I was joking around with my friend and he had a joke about weed while we were fighting in Roleplay so I made a joke about me being a suicide bomber, and I got banned..

Islam, Christianity, etc. to many is worthy of satire. Why are some memes allowed but others not? Where do you draw the line? Not allowed to meme Nazis? Communists? Conservatives? Labour? The Israeli government? Hamas? UKIP? Democrats? REpublicans? Creationists? Scientology? People who believe in a slightly different model of biological evolution? SNP? Norse Pagans? The Daily Stormer, CNN, RT, BBC News? Feminism? Equalism? MRA's? Atheists? Agnostics? Diests?

 

Shouting "Allahu Akbar" isn't even taking the mick out of Muslims, it's taking the mick out of extremist Muslims who bomb people. I would expect a "moderate" Muslim to join me in laughing at those sorts of Muslim, in the same way I expect Christians who are reasonable to laugh at Creationists-without fear of getting banned.

 

If you think about it, joking about them is more/equally offensive to westerners, who have been  ruthless Jihads called onto them for centuries, and still have terrorist attacks today.

 

edit: I was the friend in tanner's scenario. I think it was stupid he was banned, especially since we had some decent RP going on, and had to stop and pause it midway, probably never to re initiate it.

It has nothing to do with social justice whatsoever. It clearly is just cleaning up the undesirables and the annoyance they cause.

I don't think it has anything to do with how much saying "allahu ackbar" offends people. I think it has to do with how the server's legitimacy is deteriorating because you have people spewing retarded things that have nothing to do with roleplay at hand.

You guys waste an entire meeting focused on one subject and in stead ignore the dozens of "Noted" feedback threads piling up in the archive? Most of these topics don't even need much of a discussion, just a yes or no. At this point, nothing productive is ever going to be acomplished. And why is the GM team making these decisions and not the Administration?

I think it's dumb to ban it just because it offends people, it should be banned simply because it is absolutely useless.

 

It clearly isn't a matter of what you and your friend do alone if it is being publicly addressed via announcement. That's the problem. If it was alone, and kept quiet, I'd be fine with it. It is not however, and has become a problem that needed to be remedied.

I'm not sure if you're aware, but it was before mentioned that we went through the feedback, hence why it's noted. It was discussed during the GM meeting most recent to that announcement... It's also worth mentioning, that was not in fact all that was spoken about in the meet, and a list was actually compiled. Things such as a skype log discussion, banning players due to PMs, revision to combat rules, which will come with a newly revised rule list, ect, ect.

Menarra and Urasept were also at this weeks meeting, and discussed these same topics.

I don't even understand why you guys are complaining on such a trivial topic. Are you mad that you can't play Mohammed in a turban and spam /s "Allah Akbar" in front of other players who in the middle of serious RP? What I find sad is that the staff had to resort to doing that because of selfish immature players who should have common sense to know that they shouldn't do it.

 

If you guys find that it's hurting your gameplay, it says a lot about your toxic behavior. Grow up and start being considerate of other people around you and think about the image your actions place on the server you play on.

Tbh if you're gonna ban memes and allahu akbar'ing then you should ban anime based characters because it offends me and it also disrupts my serious roleplay..
