Valmir sends Orsino, his scribe and the Okarir'akaln, around Haelun'or, delivering copies of his thesis to all who reside within the city. One copy in particular is sent to the Okarir'tanya Janos Ith'ael, placed on his desk.

"For generations, our people have been renowned across all the realms we have touched, as the greatest magisters to ever live. We have bred some of the most powerful mages and leaders in the world of magic, some taking the forefront of arcane technology, others in raw power and talent. But we must ask ourselves, why is this? Why is it that is mostly the Mali’Aheral, the High Elf, that has so easily mastered the arts of the arcane? Of course, our people are among the most disciplined in the land, the most focused on the purity of the subject at hand. Our people have access to the most expansive library and hoard of knowledge this world has ever known. But is that enough? Any man or woman can get access to a book or a tome, anyone can have access to a teacher. But is that truly enough to master the arcane with as much ease as men like Kalenz Uradir, Kalameet Izalith or Janos Ith’ael? I believe the answer lies elsewhere.

My brother, Calendir Maehr’onn, spent much of his life studying the in depth truths of magical power, where our power truly lies. Whether it was merely dedication, practice and effort that brought about arcane greatness, of if something else was the true key to power. To answer this, we must first ponder the other races. The Bortu of Urguan, for example. None but the Irongut Clan, whose magic is attributed to their Ascended ancestor, may wield magic. Why is this? Surely a nation who has so easily mastered the art of mining, black-smithing, warfare, among other things, surely they near our levels of discipline? To deny their prowess in such crafts is illogical and to claim that their arts are trivial is even more so. So why can they not practice magic? It is not their religion that dictates so, it is not their mindset. Surely it is something physical.

The answer to this is very simple. The key to magical power, the key to life itself, lies in the soul. A simple energy, whether given off by the soul, dependent on the soul (or that the soul is dependant on), that much is unknown. But this much is certain. This energy, dubbed Genus in his research, acts as a catalyst. It lies within all the living on this earth, catalyzes all energy, be it mana or the life force that gives us breath, allowing it to function. It stands to reason, that the more of this energy within a being, the more powerful their magic will be. Perhaps the Bortu’s souls only have enough to run their bodies, their life, but not enough to allow their magic to function. Perhaps it is the Mali’Aheral that have more of this Genus, that allows us to excel and dominate the world of the arcane.

But you likely wonder, what proof is there of this energy? What proof is there of such a power? The answer lies in a piece of history, wiped from the many of the texts. A group of dark sorcerers known as the Order of Blood, who ran rampant across Asulon, wielding the power of Blood Magic. Blood Magic, a mysterious and obscure magic that allowed it’s users to wield an obscene amount of power. How could one draw such immense power from themselves? The truth of the matter, is that they did not use blood at all, it was merely a nickname for their method of obtaining power. The truth is that they discovered the truth of magic, the truth of power itself. By manipulating the Genus, this obscure energy, they were able to amplify their arcane power to incredible levels and, despite the atrocities they committed, achieve unbelievable feats.

Calendir Maehr’onn experimented much with this power, mastering it’s manipulation and coming to full understanding of it’s truth. Simply put, he discovered why some are more magically adept than others. Why the High Elves are indeed superior in the art of the arcane, above all others. Our bloodlines, our very souls, are far purer than that of the other races, more than we had even recognized. Within our veins contains more power, more divine energy than that of the other descendants. And it is our magical prowess, that further confirms our supremacy.

For this, I implore the people of Haelun’or to continue doing what we all have known for generations that we must be doing. Preserve the bloodlines, keep them pure. By mixing with the other races, with our Elven cousins, with the impure, we not only bring disgrace and shame to that of Silver, but we lose the power that may one day never be reclaimed. We must, for the supremacy of Silver.

Maehr'sae hiylun'ehya."

*Grim'aeldus receives a copy of the thesis and reads over it with great care. Throughout its contents, he noticed certain similarities to what has been proposed with some much older texts and tomes of his own that he recovered from various parts of the world.

"There may indeed lie truth to these words."

*He sets the paper down on his alchemy workstation, placed atop the rest of his notes concerning potions and rare flora. Grim then turns to face his book cases, reaching out to take a handful of relevant material and in turn plopping those onto his work station.

In another document in a far off and icy land a contradicting work by the Oathcast clan reads...

"It would seem that it is not a physical limitation in any many that the Dwed find difficulty in coming to use manner, but actually their minds them selves. The Dwedmar mind unlike many others works like a clock, cold and logical and operating in manners rarely understood by others; a property most suiting to those that once held the mantle of this world. This however, has been corrupted by a thousand years of gingers inbreeding

The Irongut Clan seems to lack such a mental barrier, be it due to their clan procedures or otherwise they create a mindset that the group may easily bring those in their ranks to bear these un-natural powers."

A difference in thought indeed.
