The white rose kind of revolutionized how people go about military RP, you still see echoes of their style nowadays. It was always impressive seeing the coherence and discipline throughout the entire group. The commanders, as it has been well established, definitely deserve tons of credit. A lot of other military leaders were successful, but not to the extent of the white rose, at least in my opinion and limited exposure to various individuals and groups.
