A Piece On The Raevir

Dederick Varodyr glances over the comment saying...

"My father, brother and myself defied the rule of Chivay. As I defy the rule of the dogs of Savoy. Don't tell me where to fly my banner, for I will fly it where ever I want."

Ser Garahel Varodyr looks up at his waving blue and white banner, the banner of his father, Dederick's brother, remembering how Dederick used to spout off about how disgraceful he was for betraying the crown as it flies alongside the black and white of Ashford, unawares of how much his uncle enjoyed his double standards.

Octavianus, usually an avid reader of letters and missives such as these, cannot contain his laughter after seeing the word 'Herendul.'

"Oh, Creator preserve me. That is a good one."

Not since the days of Good King Francis has there been a Raevir ruler who has carried himself with tact, cunning and intelligence.

Wladyslaw wonders how Good King Francis then managed to only rule for three saint days, making mistake after mistake. He chuckles and trots off.

Ragnar gives a dry chuckle of the idea that the Raevir are true highlanders, yet most of them have the common trait of filth colored hair and eyes, rather than the traditional of blonde and blue.

"Adunians are kilt wearing Highlanders... Raevir are dirt dwelling Highlanders... Are Raevir Adunians?" speaks Aulfr to Garahel

"Highlanders that wear things...this can't be a coincidence." Garahel says, almost terrified.

Sixtus reviews the piece by candle-light, his expression contorting into that of disgust.

"Once more, the Devil excretes in the form of writing. It arrives with every war, it seems, pathetic excuses for pamphlets and essays on the barbarity of the Raevir people, the chaos they supposedly bring, and how they are some sort of mix of Man and Beast. The last one I remember reading was In Defense of the Raevir People, by that Winter, an ironic thesis which placed much of the blame of Humanity's woes upon the House Carrion and the Raevir people. Once more, this feeble attempt at dirtying the prestige of the race shall be put down, this time by myself.

The author produces a weak attack at the culture of the Raevir in the first paragraph of the essay, claiming that the Raevir are those who provoke cultural degradation and claims that the only cultural aspect of the Raevir man is his way of speech. The foolish writer forgets the contribution of the Raevir people to the history of Man, and the contribution of the Raevir people to the entirety of the culture of Man itself. He holds true to the idiotic misconception that the only trait Raevir people possess is their language, and ignores all other aspects of the people. Their way of dress, a gritty and humble display, their way of production, their architecture, their ability in writing, their ability in politics, and their ability in theology. He forgets that it is out of the Raevir people that a prophet (Siegmund,) several saints (Theodosius, Wilfriche, among others,) just as many pontiffs (Daniel, Sixtus,) some kings (Heinrik, the Otto brothers, Franz,) the most emperors (Siegmund, Tobias, Alexander,) and otherwise. They've the most monarchs of Oren in one cultural group, six in total, outmatching the Kaedreni Imperials and the cultureless Horens before them.

It is truly pathetic that it must be explained to men that it is not language alone that makes a Raevir. It is a vibrant history, a vibrant people, full of both positives and flaws that make a community. It is not cultureless, like the 'heartlander' term you use: you use a term to define a race of Men, not a culture. A Heartlander is much too encompassing of a term. They are split into Savoyards, to Renatians, and otherwise. You cannot compare one culture to a kind of Man, because Raevir encompasses not only Highlanders but Heartlanders in several important cases, such as that of Saint Wilfriche of Hanseti. Raevir men and women have contributed more so than any other culture to the race of Men, to the Orenian nation, and to otherwise - they have left the largest impact on the history of the entire Lord's flock out of all, having influenced the rise and fall of nations as you claim, the rise of prophets and saints, and even down to the bare-bone constructs of society, such as the architecture which the Savoyards have appropriated, birthed by one Robin z Coninck so many years ago.

The author than goes on to make a claim that Raevir people are born of Orcish blood, a claim which holds no basis what-so-ever: a Raevir can mix with any other culture of Oren and create as much a child of Man than any others. There is no recorded inter-mixing of Man and Orc at all in the history of our realms, and there is no footing for the allegation. A petty jab used by all previous enemies of the Raevir people, one which shall be pushed aside once more.

The argument that there has been no successful Raevir ruler since the days of the martyr Francis is as much unfounded as the claim of mixing with Ogres. The Raevir people have had several other rulers since then, from Tobias to Hughes, all of which who, like other rulers, have their own flaws and their own strengths. It is not the fault of Alexander that the entirety of the world came crushing down upon the fair Orenian nation, it can be just as well blamed upon the previously revolting Renatian knightly fools who broke their oath of service to persue their own adventures, only to be consumed by Hell-Fire incarnate.

The creator of this essay than makes a horrid argument that it is not William the Weak who caused the collapse of the Orenian nation, but the two Raevir rulers previously subordinate to him. No, you foolish Vekon - it was not Siegmund who surrendered to the Urguanians, it was not Siegmund who relinquished his imperial title, it was not Siegmund who split the Orenian nation into squabbling states: it was William, for why he is accurately reminded to us as 'the Weak'. I enjoy how the author avoids included the fact that it was a Raevir, the Exalted Siegmund, who reunited the previously dismantled Orenian nation, threw back several invasions of Adunians and Dwarf alike, and provided progress which would catapult the Orenian people back into relevance in his lifetime.

You can spew your aves, you can salute your own kind, but the Raevir people shall salute their accomplishments instead.

Away with you."

Claude Frollo Speech

"But how is William so weak, when at the same time, the 'Holy Kingdom' of Savoie was a vassal of Urguan as well; before him, even? Hrm..." ponders Arstan Bedell as he sits in the royal gardens, awaiting Roland Sparrow's next move in their chest game.

Sixtus Pope Essay

"Ain't it a bit double standards here? If I got my history right William did indeed surrender to Urguan fighting a losing war because his craven cousin Garth surrendered Salvus and its sovereignty to them, yeah he relinquished the Imperial title fighting a losing war and all to save human lives rather than kill them for vanity something church folk like the pontiff should appreciate. But he didn't swear under the Stouts nah. The first to literally bend over to Urguan to get a King title was the Carrion Pontiff, aligning with NON HUMANS to splinter humanity. Utter goat shite that they defend those who splintered humanity just so they could reconquer it killing ******* hundreds of HUMANS in the process." Bryce would rant to himself while he tends to the various creatures of Saltstone, he would thend begin ranting again with his Demigryph giving him a puzzled look "I don't mind Siegmund, but from what I know his reign was one of chaos with two rebellions threatening to tear it to pieces with the latter requiring the 'William the weak' to save them from it. Oh and bloody Tobias? Also known as Tuvya or Brother Blue? ******* bandit probably killed more humans and non human alike for personal gain. I try not to hold a grudge over this kind of **** but they keep telling themselves the same lies over and over again in hope that we'd believe it. Oh and in terms of Saints that are of Heartland stock that beat Raev ones.....Horen, Owyn, Daniel and Godfrey." he'd finish his rant, picking up a bucket full of feed to offer to his Demigryph
