The Fall Of Ellian Kato

A sickening crunch was heard, and then a dull crack as a woman crumpled to the ground. An evoked boulder taken straight on with little resistance was the cause, before it disappeared into the Void, the damage done.
Silence.

Forty-odd years earlier, this would've been a different scene. Perhaps she'd have been spared the fate.
That was not the case here, with a cloaked figure scooping up the battered Northern woman and a choked sob given in belated regret. Too late, it seemed.
Her existence was simple, having been the daughter of an Adunian marshal living and working in the village of Brom'Krah, though it didn't last long.

Silence.

Her life slipped away in the figure's arms during the trip; a quiet end for the Anthosian born with raven hair and gray eyes.
The woman had suffered quite a lot over the near sixty years, though she kept her youth due to her blood, and she fiercely protected her ideals with a stubborn state of mind.
Taken in by a man of Eastern descent after Brom'Krah fell into chaos, he raised her to be a God-fearing woman, and though she had little natural skills he taught to her his craft of fishing in his dying years.

Silence.

At the base of a pine overlooking a rolling hill blanketed with snow, a hole was carefully dug by the culprit.
No witnesses were present in those frozen wastes, yet there would be those who would remember her warmth and her cheer.
She'd joined up with Hallowvale Contracting in hopes of protecting the man who now lead it, a Qalasheen she'd thus far looked after from childhood.
It was clear that was more difficult than she'd thought, but in some ways she'd succeeded.
Her Muffin was safe, and she'd learned how to fish. That was all she needed.
She didn't need to fight anymore.

Thump.

It was done.
Ellian Elendil, neé Douglas, and the self-proclaimed Kato.
The Fisher Queen of Hallowvale was dead.

Ulgaard brooded within the depths of the forlorn ruin; blood was on his hands, that of a loved one - but it was for a noble cause and thus did he return to his studies, toiling away in the wake of Altus, his master.

Crineas feels an unbearable sorrow pulsing in his heart, an old vivid memory gripping his mind.

A small girl, just six years of age gracing the quiet library. The girl was faced with much uncertainty then, her father had became a dread knight...condemned into an eternity of torment. Crineas could only provide a brief respite for the girl, letting her seat on his shoulders.

He never did see or hear of her again, neither did he remember her name. He could only hope, that things turned out alright for her in the end.

Staring into the green eyes of his infant daughter who he cradled in his arms, Nafis lets out a hefty sigh. She'd been missing for quite some time and he already assumed the worse. Regret made the Qali man's heart heavy and he hoped that Ellian knew he appreciated her efforts in raising him as if he were her own, despite his stubborn tendencies and knack for getting into trouble. He felt as though perhaps business pushed the two further apart in recent years. Those were years he couldn't get back now.

"If only she got to meet you, Almas. What shitty luck." Nafis mumbles to himself and the baby.

Raigeki embraces the Adunian he called his own as she reunites with him in the Seven Skies. Despite her demise, he thought she did just fine in life.

A middle-aged Qali strides out onto a small feeble dock with two fishing poles rested on his shoulder. He plops himself into one of  two makeshift chairs that groaned under his weight.

“I apologize for keeping you… It has been hectic this year.”

With another rasping chirr, the man leans over and rests one of the poles against the other seat before casting out his own pole into a river ahead. He stares out to the calm waters, rippling from the small current, lost in thoughts from the past.

A peaceful time.

“I was just a carefree child then — looking up to one of the few I’d call ‘mentor.’ He did well in raising you and because of that you did well in raising his kin.”

The man reclines back in his seat as keeps patient, waiting for a nibble.

“I could go on for hours reminiscing on our adventures, miss Kato, but I know you and Raigeki hear me. I only wish ‘The Crew’ was back and we could all go kill some ants again.”

The tip of the pole bends quickly as Arlen feels that tug, causing his lips to curl into a small smile. He saw it as a sign from above and glanced over to empty chair knowing that "The Crew" had heard him.

“Been waiting for that nibble.”
