The Gentry House af Eklund

BISg4kG.png

The remnants of a Northern tribe in Anthos, the line of Aulfr is descended from these hardy warriors. Born from the man known as Halvdan, known to carve "Halvdan was here" among various structures, Aulfr spent a time fighting with the men of Saint Amyas through the last days of Anthos and the beginning of Vailor until he took a pilgrimage and wandered the northern mountains of Oren's borders, finding refuge with Ser Garahel Varodyr who took in the freezing and starving Aulfr and helped bring him to full health.

Becoming distinguished in the fields of the Adrian Revolt, Aulfr would be elevated to the title of Ser, taking the suffix of "the White Wolf" and maintaining a stark vigil in Peremont and helping lead the Order of Saint Amyas there. With a fierce demeanor, Aulfr hunted both beast and man who violated the laws of God and Oren, to bring His glory to all he met, and His wrath upon those who abandoned or forsook the mercy of the Creator.

As the Grandmaster Guy de Bar ascended to King, and the Order of St. Amyas became the Vindicators of the Ashen Dawn, Aulfr saw himself prosper under the reign. It was not long however until King guy was slain, and John Frederick was crowned Emperor of Oren. Aulfr stayed in Savoy, but retained his title of the Master of Chivalry in the Empire. He grew bitter as he aged, now thirty five, Duke Adrian de Bar and aulfr did quarrel and Aulfr left Drusco, and the de Bar family. Aulfr returned home to Saltstone with his family, finding refuge with his old friend Bryce Vinmark of Horen. Aulfr would soon swear fealty to Bryce, and become his loyal vassal and a close advisor to him in the coming days.

Traits

The House af Eklund is known for tall and bulky men with dark hair and green eyes. Pale skin is often seen among the members of the family. The women are tall and oft have blue or green eyes with dark hair but blonde or brunette is not unheard of. As well, the men are known to take offense easily on insult and demand repayment in blood. This can leads to a duel where only one is meant to come out.

Due to their roots in the Northern reaches of Anthos, many of the Eklund men wield axes, preferring the hack and chop rather than thrust and slash. Notable exclusions are Aulfr, who preferred a Longsword in two hands to better learn the ways of Orenian Knights during his tenure with Garahel Varodyr, and guy de Bar’s Ashford warriors.

Relics

Blade of Halvdan

Wielded by the mighty Halvdan, this Longsword is said to have felled a mighty drake as well as scores of foul monsters and marauders who sought refuge in the North from the law. It is a steel sword, inlaid with runes and a hilt wrapped in black leather.

The Wolfshead

A Hounskul helmet wrought of steel and coated in matte black paint. It's plates are covered in runes and inscriptions. It is said to have been blessed in ages past by the Bishop of Aesterwald to help ward off the blows of the enemy. Granted to Eklund, this helm still protects warriors today.

The Dire Mantle

A giant pelt taken from a slain Lur wolf, it is worn in ceremony and is of a deep black. Kept well oiled and maintained, the pelt is very old and the original owner is said to be Eklund, father of Sven, who was the father Halvdan himself.

Armor of Sven

Forged in the furnaces of Eklund, this armor is matte black and made of a Half-Plate with lamellar joints rather than chainmail. Inlaid with the classic style of Northern runes, the insides of the armor are runes of courage and endurance as well as classic runes of protection and fortitude. It is a powerful set of armor.

Eklund was a Northerner who left the Orvar clan after they began to fall apart and diverge. While many became nomads, Eklund gathered up refugee Waldenians and Northmen and protected them. He helped to give them a peaceful life, shunning needless combat, while still remaining a powerful warrior. He was known as "the Shield" by his people. He would depart the Clan to the frozen reaches of Anthos, knowing if his people saw him dead they would break.

Sven took up the mantle of Chieftain after his father departed the clan, praising the work of his father Eklund and naming the tribe af Eklund. Northern paganism took over as did Northern traditions and the people of different stock became one people under him. He is known as Sven "Blackhands" for he spent countless hours in the forge making tools, leaving his hands covered in soot. While having triplets, Halvdan was born first and most capable. His second son, Eirik, became a proud warrior as did his descendants. Sven's third son was Hadvir, who was a well learned man, whose descendants were shown to be quite adept in politics.

Halvdan laid his father to rest as missionaries began to rediscover the North. Introduced Creatorism and the tribe quickly embraced the faith, shaping it as their own and forming a whole new sect worshipped in the North. As he encouraged his people to expand as the population soared, he helped to spread Creatorism and is known as "the Kind" for his actions.

Aulfr took up the mantle of the tribe after his father passed but quickly encouraged his people to go South. The North had grown haunted and the lands salted from the war and strife. His people wept bitter tears as they fled their homeland but understood. He would serve God as a warrior and then help protect Saltstone before serving in the Order of St. Amyas and later the Vindicators of the Ashen Dawn.

House Vallberg salutes to their fellow true nords.

(I may be wrong, but I think you've mixed the names of the maps, Anthos and Athera. Aegis-Asulon-Anthos-Athera-Vailor.)
