3/4 of the trials were old GMs.

Bring new blood instead of those who left before to give other people the chance to help run the server, or whatever it's called nowadays, since most likely they will have to leave again due to some other thing in their personal life or go ham and mess up the server even more in the past.

"Too many old GMs" -> the team doesn't look for new or old GMs, just good GMs.

Not what I meant at all, plus that point could be debated heavily about what the current team thinks is good when it comes to a potential applicant.

Yes, I know they were known as good and useful GMs in the past, but they left once, maybe more than once, but my point is that what is the point of bringing them back if it means them staying maybe 1 or 2 weeks/months before they leave again?

I don't just mean these select group of people in general, im just talking about it overall. Don't you think there should be a system in place to stop this tomfoolery? There is literally no point in keeping people on to just see them leave because of some fatal illness, depression from losing a pet, getting bored, etc.? People are literally turned away from jobs because of this kind of behavior. Yes, it's neat to be back in a seat of power with a close friendo that had to go because he had to get ready for college and stuff, but is it really worth it to put them back into a commitment when they obviously have another that is most likely more important? Though, if it's something like they have no power or some other form of disaster that stops them from logging on and helping out the server, im sure there would be some form of give and take.

But of course, this is just my opinion, and would like some sort of strike system when it comes to this vicious cycle of coming and going and coming back again, only to leave again, and then comeback just because they can.

That argument isn't fought -- people who do that, case in point being CountJuno, aren't wanted -- and what you speak of is general common sense to a GM lead. You are right in saying there is no desire to have people back who will ultimately leave again. However, if they were active, productive, and efficient then it's likely they'd be welcomed back assuming that should they leave, as all GMs do, it will be out of unforeseeable circumstances that require a departure and not "getting bored". The end of it all however is that being a returning GM is both positive and negative; they may have experience and dedication, but their stay may be unstable or in general not permanent. It's just up to the lead to decide how all that is treated.

And anyways it's possible that their departure was just a one-off ordeal.

I completely understand that. Though, the whole common sense thing could easily go out the window since sometimes common sense isn't usually what makes a decision around here, and there is proof of that.

The one time deal thing also makes sense as well, which goes along with my point of a give and take thing as well.

I know I am making it sound like I am just debating just to spew filth or whatever on this happy day to some, if not all players here, but lately, I am sure you can see where my concern comes from when it comes to decisions from the team.  You can take that as insult or feedback, it doesn't really matter, but both sides have points.

In the end though, it's just as you say, it's the team's decision as it always has been, and we all might as well ride it out till an eventual end, be it someone fucked up and decided to blow **** up, or simply go to college, start a family, go inactive, etc.

Congrats on those who passed to get into the trial stage though, good luck.

James will really be one to look out for because he memes way too hard, even to Dwarven standards, he also gets pretty salty too fam.

Jobs have a quantifiable investment cost (training, paying wages with no return, turning away other applicants, etc.) alongside bureaucracy/administration time which costs even more money. This makes it unfeasible to interview and hire people for a short period just for them to bail (hence why contractors exist).

On LOTC there's no limit on how many GM's can exist and they don't get paid so it really doesn't matter if people flake quickly. Of course if the person leaves on bad terms or just plain screws up thats pretty solid ground to not reinvite them.

The best gms tend to burn out quick anyways. I know freema has been GM like 3-4 times but he's always really good at the job and leaves on what I believe are good terms.

Every time was an interesting experience. I can wholeheartedly say that those two times taught me something. The first was a new experience but short, it matured me for sure but I wasn't prepared. My second time as GM was fulfilling, I spent 2 years on the team and worked hard with a rad team of ET for as long as I could before my time had ended again. Took a good few months to relax and played on the server for a little before even thinking of applying again. I'm on my third attempt now, as a trial of course I must earn my slot. In no way does being a trial for anybody secures them GM. Nevertheless, I plan to have a strong run, possibly even better then the last for all of you. All applicants, Gig, Benbo, James are in it to win it. We do this for you guys.
