Armour, as seen on Tyrion here, can be scaled down to the body proportions of smaller people. That's my point.

I'm sure the same smith who made Tyrion's set here could make a slightly smaller set for someone a foot shorter.

Also there is the concept of proportional weight. A smaller set of armour = lighter than a larger set of armour. A halfling would be wearing a suit of armour of the same proportion to his body weight than a human in a human-sized suit of armour would be.

Okay so I'll be honest here, Tyrion in the books is kinda the same as Tyrion in the tv show, I'll also point out armor is usually made for the wearer. It's not quite a question on, can you make it because I'm very certain you can make armor for a dog. What the argument boils down to is it just won't end up practical for the already weak Halfling, sure it may make some difference but it will be cumbersome, heavy, and again not comfortable to wear to the point it doesn't make sense to wear.

Considering the populace of the halfling demographic, you really don't have much reason to ostracize an already dwindling player base. They are able to wear armour, they are able to wear shoes and even act in ways otherwise seen as odd for a halfling, if they do shun them in-character and avoid causing out of character ****-threads. Unless they are breaking biological lore here, which they aren't, then quite frankly get over it and over the idea that you somehow control the way all halflings should be played.

Sure, people can RP what they want, not my place to say. Yet people /must/ follow the lore that halflings wearing shoes causes extreme physcial pain and frails creatures like halflings wearing armor will cause serious health issues for trying to uphold so much weight. But ya know if people wanna emote their character wincing after each step then they can or their character walking with a horrible hunch or limp because they wore armor then they're free to do it. Anyways halflings are not meant to be a large player base, they're supposed to be a small and tightly-nit community. So to be clear:

-Nobody was ostracized

-Wearing shoes and armor isn't healthy for a halfling

-This isn't a ****-post this is bringing up a serious problem of people not following lore, just like that thread earlier this month about the racial curses

Also Dova and I have been playing halflings for over a year. We know the lore and how it is correctly RPed better than any other lore on this server. We know what we are talking about.

I think the only person with an older Hallfing than me is like Whitemoose or cmack1028

I even remember a time in Athera when a halfling was forced to wear shoes as corporal punishment...

My character DOES wear armor, however only because he's a cleric and it's 75% robes. Aswell as the fact that it's not even metal, it's just dyed and tanned leather plates. It was also tailor crafted for a halfling.

Nothing by lore stops a halfling from wearing shoes or armor. That just means that the players can't get in trouble for doing it. IC you can do whatever.

Halflings have various ways that can be described, heck, they even made themselves divided into... I forgot their names... still, it was 'different' types of halflings.

You are talking about wee-folk. Every wee-folk was still generally similar to the halfling main  type, each couldn't wear armor and had the same concepts of properness (save for the evil munchkins).

I was wondering, what do you do if you have to venture somewhere really cold? I'd think even halfling feet would get frost bite after prolonged exposure to ice and stuff.

Halfling feet are very big, very hairy. They protect them from nature

Well yeah, but frostbite is the freezing of your skin and the underlying tissues. Doesn't really matter how calloused it is, and they don't live in sub-zero climates so they wouldn't have adapted to the cold. Perhaps they would wear custom moccasins? I dunno. Shoes are disallowed but it just seems like it would make sense in this scenario.

When Frodo was climbing the mountain in LOTR before they went to Moria he didnt get frostbite, did he? I think their feet are just that strong, but I honestly dont know

The only mention of boots and shoes in the Lord of the Rings that also mention hobbits are mentioned here:

" There is in the text no mention of his acquiring of boots. There should be! It has dropped out somehow or other in the various revisions – the bootings occurred at Rivendell; and he was again bootless after leaving Rivendell on the way home. But since leathery soles, and well-brushed furry feet are a feature of essential hobbitness, he ought really to appear unbooted, except in special illustrations of episodes. "

So, it seems that no, they do not usually wear shoes and only appear on special occasions doing so.

Whulp, if Tolkien said it, I guess that's good enough for me haha
