Hello everyone,

The truth is, this should have happened a long time ago, but there is no better time to post this than now. 

 

I apologize for the miscommunications we had had in this situation and I hope I will be able to convince you I am genuinely sorry with both word and action.

 

FINANCES
What is the situation regarding our money?

 

Following the events of our warclaims many have suggested that our equipment is not capable of supporting so many players.

 

Tythus will be making a following post shortly declaring our exact intent and allocated budget here and the equipment we plan to acquire.

 

The truth is thus, by no means are we underfunded and seeking dire aid, we are a powerful community that has thrived against all odds for nearly five years. 

 

We are very thankful to each of you that has donated and continue to donate this day for the support you provide for us, our server would not function without you. (Some of us did not donate our money, but instead have donated our hard work and our time. We love you for every moment you’ve spent enriching this community, and thank you deeply).

 

Notice:
Tythus Ltd. will not be relinquishing Lord of the Craft to any entity and will remain in 100% possession of this server. No stock has or will be sold and we will act to protect the interests of our existing community, one that we love very dearly.

 

MEDIA
What’s all this about an ‘official Media team?’

 

It is my pleasure to announce that player-made Media teams will be becoming official representatives of Lord of the Craft. To be clear: rather than Media Team membership implying being a part of staff, Media teams will be receiving support from our staff.

 

We would like to extend permissions in the same spirit as given flight or spectator mode during the recording of videos. These permissions will be received after a modreq.

 

We will be creating a Team proposal form that each of you will be able to use to apply your team which will result in official status. Media team proposals will also require a brief interview with Administration just to make sure that you do plan to be reasonable. Teams accepted will be conferred official staff backing.

 

As Media projects do represent our server to prospective players we would like to be sure as a staff that these trailers/events/series/etc. give the right impression. We take our roleplay seriously and we are not ready to just ‘give up’ and become a lightweight-RP trash hub.

 

SCENE21
Why should we trust this man?

 

A little while ago a freshly spawned Scene21 offered to help subsidize costs regarding external advertising, and to act as an official sponsor for Lord of the Craft. While he may be new to our community we do not have reason to believe he carries ill intent.

 

We are very thankful that he has come forward and offered to help us in this way, however we would also like to confirm to those concerned what this entails. 

 

Scene21 is the executive producer of his media branch—this does not confer staff priveleges but will have staff support. To reiterate this point, Scene21 will have our support, however, just to be clear he is not a member of our staff.

 

Scene21 will have the opportunity to explain himself and what he can bring to our community with his actions rather than with his words. And of course, as per the requirement of the Media team (with no special treatment), Scene21 will still be required to submit a team proposal on behalf of his team.

 

As a final note, we cannot and should not demand you to like or respect him, but for both those who believe otherwise, please do not harass or threaten him. He does not deserve our hatred.

 

If you are approached by him, please do not assume the worst. Until we have strong reason to suspect he plans to undermine our community I don’t believe we should punish him unnecessarily.

 

INCOMING PLAYERS
Fresh meat?

 

With each rising of the sun we edge closer to the brink of war and apocalypse. I can smell the brimstone, hear the sharpening of spears, and feel the ground tremble beneath the march of armies... the noobs are coming.

 

Well, kind of but not really.

 

I want to address one very valid concern. We’re going to have an influx of new registrants who aren’t aware of neither our rich culture as a community nor how to roleplay correctly. While this isn’t necessarily any different from the applicants we already receive the sheer quantity may feel overwhelming.

 

This is a lot to ask for and it is certainly hard to ask for your trust and respect. However, we would like to formally ask for your cooperation and assistance in helping guide our fresh newbros get their bearings.

 

Joining our community is a disorienting and sometimes confusing experience, and it is certainly an uphill battle that leaves us with a poor retention rate overall. We have an intimidating set of rules and regulations that might scare some potentially good roleplayers away. But the more of us that join in on helping these fresh faces the better we can grow our community.

Are you going to comment on the fact Scene21 has apparently lied about his vast network of "contacts", and has in fact lied to them, and may in fact lie to them again? Do you really want someone who acts like that as a "representative of Lord of the Craft"?

 

What about the fact he's been adding people to skype chats claiming to be official Media Team? Which obviously he thinks he is, having put the media team banner in his signature.

 

I hope this 'Team proposal form' is posted on the forums and that prospective media teams are required to post it publicly. Also, the very important duty of "Representative of Lord of the Craft" is not being properly documented with it's own official procedure, process, boundaries, responsibilities, expectation. I am hoping that changes swiftly with the posting of the Team Proposal Form and requires all individuals adhere to a code of conduct. Even if it is not a staff position, if they are going to be acting as representatives of LoTC they should have to post an application so that if the players have any comment or warning, they can state it.

 

I appreciate the attempt at transparency as does the rest of the server I am sure. However there are still some concerns that need to be addressed. Scene21's actions already have explained himself.

 

And as everyone else has said, Do this way before next time.  I would like to know why you didn't clarify all this beforehand, because the fact you didn't still seems like you were hiding something.

 

I am not trying to start drama. But without this feedback and nipping problems in the bud things will go downhill.
