If i do say so myself I had an extremely bad encounter with the oren guards, they where dealing with this creature called Evern I believe whilst they where doing that, asking questions to a creature who cannot speak the Princess was alone and then guess what, she and her Butler/Servant where both attacked by an Assassin Luckily the Elves where there me and Triloq Rescued the Princess and The Servant from futher damage whilst, all the Oren Guards where upstairs with the creature. All im saying is if the Orens Guards done there job right, the Princess wouldnt of been Attacked. Thank god for me and Triloq!

The Guard seem to have a problem managing themselves unless one of their higher ups is there to crack their skulls into line. Numerous times they have come to my manor just inside the Wilds, claiming it is under Oren jurisdiction and they be allowed to enter. They also have claimed many a time my home was a den for the Black Hand.

My poor nerves from all the stress of them have caused my hair to dull into grey!

However, it seems they are just now starting to clean up their act, bit by bit. They still make mistakes, some very massive. But they are trying their best, the majority of the time.

I ask my fellow citizens to give them assistance when you can. If you see them on patrol, offer food and drink, maybe a moment to sharpen their tools upon your anvil, the smart ones will repay your kindness in time.

Probably because your "manor" is indeed within Oren's territory (Everything, even if it is registered as "wilderness", north of Whispering Isles, is considered Oren's territory, with the exception of Kramoroe). The King can remove things within that area as he pleases, and the guards can enter any homes in that area to check for criminal activities. And your "manor" was indeed a Black Hand hideout until they were finally destroyed. I have no doubt it will be used for evil or ill purposes again; The guards should purge you while they can.

Anyways, everyone is more likely to remember the ill from the good. When the guards protect you you scarcely notice, but when they do what you view ill it seems much more obvious. I doubt there would be much wrong with the guards were they kept in line by a Human leader with Human's and Oren's best interests at heart.

Dear people of Oren,

The Oren Guard is not what it is cracked up to be. Recruits sign up, imagining glamour, fame, and fortune. They think that they will chase down criminals, fight undead, and protect the citizens of Oren. The Oren guard, in reality, is not all that. The recruits' life is a paradox. Recruits need to have the ability to wield iron swords, therefore they need to train a lot. Recruits also need to be on gate duty a lot, or else they will be fired for laziness. So if you go on gate duty and not train, you cannot get paid or get a promotion. But if you train and not go on gate duty, you get fired for neglecting duty. We are required to question anyone who enters the city, yet if we question an Ascended, we get reprimanded. We break the rules, we get in trouble. We follow the rules, we still get in trouble.

Today, I was fired from the Oren Guard. Their excuse? Not being on duty enough ((Well I'm sorry that I live in a different time zone and train a lot because I want to be promoted))and complaining ((Not a really a legit reason. I used /tell with Hayden and Jadles and it was all ooc and jokes)). Felix told me that there are too many guards now and some must be cut. Funny thing is, I am the one of the most skilled with the sword in the guard ((lvl 37)), with Hayden as the most skilled((? correct me if I am wrong on that one)) ((40+)). Also, if we have too many guards, why is the gate almost never manned? So the guard fires members who are good with a sword but didn't do a lot of gate duty. Well, when the undead attack, I'm sure that knowing how to open the gate will really save oren. "DIE UNDEA- wait let me get the gate for your minions". And while all the useless recruits are getting slaughtered, the fired guards who can actually fight aren't there. Felix said I may be re-hired, but honestly, I don't care anymore. If this is how the guard treats its members, I don't want to be a part of this corrupt organization. I go a different path now...

How about everyone stops their bickering, there is no need for a new Oren military, only a overhaul. Back in the days when i was in the Oren Guard they were actually useful and we had the General and Captain around at all times to give out orders. We went on drills and patrols and actually helped people. We need to change the Guard not start a military. Back when i rose to Lt. i actually disciplined the Guard and yelled at them and called them useless and told of them how my mother in her grave could do better! I made them better men and more disciplined and ready to fight, now these guards are given a badge and told to man a gate and only say three words "Name and Business?" i would much rather not have mindless ghouls as the Oren Guards.
