I presume the point of half swording, which I didn't watch the video, was to use the hilt as a bludging weapon or a hook to manipulate people?

Also, those arrows were meant to pierce mail, but not plate. Remember that bows back then really weren't that great. The only reason that they became more popular than slings was because you can line up archers for a volly. Also, most warriors didn't have a full set of armor.

Yes... first monks are back now this? This honestly sounds awesome, and even if this fails I'm so happy the staff are actually trying new things. PVP default in my opinion is a bad way to do things on an RP server. I think we want to get as far away from Minecraft as we can, and make it as text-based and immersive as possible. I like this

Quite the contrary, the armor wasn't that great in comparison to the English longbow which could easily pierce armor, given the right arrow (thin bodkin tip pmuch). You'll bleed, but you won't instantly die of it in most other cases.

And half-swording is basically either a: redirecting the point of your blade by holding the sword in the middle for improved tip control or b: hitting the other guy with the quillions for usage as a bludgeoning weapon.

This entire statement is pretty much a great meme. I hate minecraft and video games, lets all just write essays, its so much more fun and isnt tragic at all right? :d

I like this.

PVP default is sometimes useful, yeah, but the only time it should be is when you're honestly fighting a bad rper(Or defending).

Otherwise, why tf did you join an rp server in the first place?

Someone could walk into my home previously, and declare pvp default after the roll to break my door. Of course, my home has sets of prot armor and carbarum weapons, so they would die anyways, but my point remains! If someone breaks into my home, Im rping them. If they powergame, then Im refusing to rp until they fix their errors. And, if they are known to me as a bad RPer to begin with, then I'd pvp them anyways. If they refuse to leave my home nor change, then modreq! Its 6 letters people often don't know how to type in a command.

Anyways, this makes the majority of people happy, including myself, but you can still pvp powergamers, or when there's a large group rping. If you dislike roleplay so much, then why tf are you going around starting **** on a roleplay server? I don't mean to sound 'RP DEFAULT THIS IS RP SERVER', but seriously. You joined LOTC on the pretense of roleplaying, so stick to it, yeah?

I've always been a strong supporter of PVP default. It simplifies things and lets people get on with their RP lives without having magic lampposts thrown at them with telekinesis and defending themselves against swords with some random shovel they have in their inventory.

Orcs don't need pvp to survive. This is an roleplay server not a pvp server. Roleplay fighting.

Classic barnettian intellect and wit, as well as a peerless skill in debating and forming arguments. You've swayed me.

TBH violence is so common on this server that if it happens less then it might actually mean more.

I do not understand why people are complaining because they now have to roleplay more on a roleplay server instead of having a spam click contest and who has the best pc.

Because of idiots like you who make smashing one's head hard against a wall laden with metal spikes a less painful alternative to RP fighting when it's actually (SURPRISINGLY?) supposed to be a fun experience.

i often find that rp fights grow tiresome and boring after a while, considering the age old 'no one particularly likes to lose' quip'; which in turn leads to hours of counter attacks and miracles when one person is outmatched. pvp offered a concise decision of who was the winner and who was the loser. both have their advantages and both have their disadvantages, but i know that i hate rp fighting sometimes just as much i hated pvp sometimes. lets just come up with a new default guys, spleef default?
