A Legitimised Remarriage

The Matrilineal Wedding of Thomas de Aryn and Klara Ashford de Bar

Within the Principality of Savoy, there was chatter and gossip spreading across the land, from Esheveurd to Peremont, to Nessevelt and Riveryn, the knowledge of this wedding fell upon many ears. Thomas de Aryn, once a young Brother of Esheveurd and protector of His Majesty Olivier de Savoie, and now the Baron of Virdain and Seal upon the Privy Council, had arranged the wedding alongside the House Ashford de Bar and had finally reached an approval. While already considered married in all eyes, he was to marry his Wife once again in a form previously unseen in recent history.

The Bride, known previously as Klara de Noir turned Aryn, was once known by the name of Klara Ashford de Aryn, the daughter of Frederique de Bar and Otto Rovin. Klara de Bar was previously bastardised and exiled from her family and the Realm based on the actions of her now fallen Brother, though after lengthy discussions between the Baron de Aryn and the Ashford House, her namesake and legitimacy was returned and she was welcomed to return to the fold of the legitimate bloodline.

Despite the solemn and dreary atmosphere of the Empire in the latter months, the Principality and the land in Ashford name chirped and gleed as the previously forbidden lovers were finally welcomed to stand side by side and hand in hand. Within the Cathedral in the Duchy of Drusco, the ceremony was held in squalor and cheer, and as the bells began to ring, the citizens gathered for the duely awaited event. The Baron and the Ashford stood to each others side as the Priest began to officiate. The Wedding was as quiet and peaceful as one would hope, holding semblance as a light and warming event in the latter dark period. As the ceremony progressed and the vows were spoken, the two recalled their childhood in Siegrad with one another, and their secret relationship during the Ducal Conflict, their eloped marriage and the family they cultivated with one another.

The Priest finished up the matrilineal ceremony, and the crowd clapped as the now wedded pair finalised the event with the signature lipped embrace. The wedding was done, and the link as created. While together in honour and drive, the Ashford House and House de Aryn had intertwined. Given the state of the Marriage, and the culture of Ashford, the House de Aryn was now integrated with it’s line and by it’s side it would continue to grow, just as Thomas had by Klara’s side. Finally, after decades of waiting, the pair had their ambitions realised. With a final cheer, the deed was done.

Leviah drank away at her beverage. Resting her chin on a dusty iron hand. "Good."

Yet of course, on the site of marriage there stood a sign.

Gaspard de Aryn stood austerely beside his brother Thomas. Honoured by his choosing as best-man by the fellow de Aryn, and humbled by the union of the two, for which he had seen blossoms together. Gaspard smiled faintly, his lips disguised by a manly layer of moustache. "What a joyous time to be alive."

"My my, sounds loike ah interestin situation, 'ope Wyrvun protects d' lass." Hellio smirkingly says, hearing people at Felsen talking whilst faint sound similar to Rains of Castamere plays in the distance.
