Alright, time to go on daily visits with holy friends, wielding enchanted aurum weaponry, but I still think that the normal spawn should be re-done all pretty like too. The docks are bland, boring and ... Boring.

It's a second spawn meaning a protection is around them as always. As stated in the OP post you cannot commit harm within the sanctuary of the dark.

Monks are neutral people. Monks now can go in the temple and just chill out. Your "dark" monk idea doesn't exist. 

So if you wish to perceive current monks as "Dark monks" when they're in the sanctuary of the dark, so be it.
