House History: House Ruthern has existed as an entity for many centuries, tracing its origins to the Carrions of the Crowsmoot. Most of its history is lost to time and the drastic changes to the Ruthernian leadership in the past. The dynasty is now led by Maric I Dmitry Ruthern, son of Lord Dmitry Ruthern and Lady Emma Klein. He is wed to a Lorrainian noblewoman, Isabel Stafyr, and together have had four trueborn children. Maric, in his robust youth, as most Rutherns have had experienced, conceived a bastard son, Brandon III Barrow. Maric legitimized his bastard son by the High Pontiff Sixtus IV when he inherited his late brother’s county. Now situated within Axios, protecting the mountain pass into Haense, the Ruthern family serves as one of the primary vassal houses to Petyr Barbanovic.

House Culture: While the upbringing of the Ruthern House was primarily Raev, the House and it’s inhabitants in its later stages of the House would become closely linked with people of Waldenian descent, resulting in a shift of culture. Now, with the newly instated influence of a Lorrainian wife and mother, the Auvergnian culture has become a primary impact.

~

Ruthernian speech mingles with nearly every Orenian culture, some primary words for example,

~

“Da”, a Raev saying for acknowledgement, fairly informal.

“Ja”, a lighter version of responding to an order in Waldenian.

“Jawohl”, a strong use of affirming an order, used mostly in extreme formal situations.

“Ave”, a formal greeting in Flexio.

“Kommandant”, Commander.

“Auf Wiedersehen”, is a formal way to say goodbye.

“Tschüss”,

~

House Ruthern is influenced majorily by martial attitudes, an offspring of Ruthern is usually expected to be trained in matters regarding combat and the entirety of it. A legitimate member of House Ruthern is expected to serve an indefinite time of military service.

The Aufschreiben of House Ruthern."

~

The book authored by a literate member of House Ruthern ancestor, Yaroslav, son of Ruther Barrow, founding father of House Ruthern. Instead of taking up the sword, Yaroslav chose the life of a scholar, a very unlikely position to find an ancient Ruthern in. This book contains written details on the origins of House Ruthern. It was passed on to his son, and his son passed it on, they continued to fill the book in, either by themselves or using writers. This book is mostly used to prove House Ruthern legitimacy and other deeds done by members of Ruthern. There are two of these ancient tomes within existence, each being held by Count Dmitri and Guildmaster Godric.

Dmitri sits atop the construction of the county of New Metterden, a whetstone in one hand with Greyice in the other, silently sharpening the blade as his blue-grey eyes look out towards the south and as the cold winds blow through his hair, a small smile appears upon his lips, one of sheer pride.

Godric lets out a sigh and leans back into his chair. He rests a small hand upon his oversized stomach and shuts his eyes. Godric had recently finished reading The Aufschreiben of House Ruthern. for the second time.
