  1. The child of Amber and Ferrum A little girl, no younger than the age of five, giggles as she runs around her bedroom. On her tail is her mother, trying to catch the mischievous child. "Brianna! It's time for bed!" The woman exclaims through her chuckles. The giggling girl hides behind the desk chair, convinced that her mother can't get her from there. "But ah wanna see Dada before ah go to sleep!" The child argues. Aurora Kervallen, her mother, stops and looks at her daughter with a soft, warm gaze. "Dada is busy with work, sweetheart. He will be back when you awaken." she says and walks closer to the little girl, picking her up from the other side of the desk chair. Carrying the child to her bed, the woman tickles Brianna's little sides and in doing so making her giggle and wiggle about in the mother's arms. Eventually the woman gets the little girl to calm down, enough so she may drift to sleep, but before the little girl slips into the blissful state of sleep, Aurora tucks her in and leaves a soft kiss on her forehead. "Mama, Can ah be an adventurer like you and Dada one day?" the little girl asks sleepily. The woman smiles and runs her fingers through the girl's hair. "Of course, my little one. You may be whatever you like and do whatever you wish when you grow up." she says softly. "Now Sleep, my dear, for an adventure awaits for you when you awaken.." Brianna Kervallen closes her eyes as her mother blows out the candle, drifting off into a blissful sleep and dreaming of the possible adventures ahead. (Thank you all for taking the time to read this!! This is another child persona that is up for grabs, the daughter of Aurora Kervallen and *insert top secret father [:eyes:]*. If you are interested in playing this persona, please contact Otakuu [.otakuu.] on discord and I will give the information for the child of Amber and Ferrum)

Countess Cosima Monika von Augusten (née d’Azor, Bishop) was the first High Emissary of Aaun, while her husband, Peter Leopold d’Azor resided over the maintenance of their estate in the Aurentanian mountains. After Cosima’s resignation as Countess, her eldest son, Konstantin, led the Comital House in Aaun as High Senschenel on the Privy Council until he decided to move his family to the Commonwealth of the Petra, following extended vampire allegations and other conflicts within Whitespire. After being granted the Viscounty of Azor in Petra, House von Augusten began rising in involvement in the government, and other organizations, with the current Viscount (Konrad's brother) being Vice-Chancellor of the Petra @DuhPuhWuh, and a daughter of Konstantin being a Knight of the Petrine Laurel @TaytoTot. House von Augusten owns the castle of Rikardsburg as the seat of their family, nestled near the capital city of Vallagne.
  3. Darling Wisteria A little girl wanders around the garden of her home, using her imagination to see animals, people, creatures and magic. Her giggles echo around the area where butterflies flutter around her head happily. Off to the side, her mother sits and watches her with a smile, a hand on her pregnant belly. The woman looks proud and all loving, not a worry in sight. "Wisteria, come here would you?" The woman calls to the child, sitting straight as her daughter approaches. "You have grown so much in such little time, my beautiful flower. Your imagination runs vastly beyond the point of comprehension and your beauty is unmatched. Today, Mama knows that you will grow into a lady that will make both your Haelun and I proud. Today you start walking on your own, with your own concience. Grow my Sweet Wisteria, my flower." the woman says, caressing the child's cheek and kissing her forehead. The child, although not understanding quite yet what her mother means, nods her little head enthusiastically. "Okay mama!" Wisteria Adeline Pinemaw runs off into the garden, giggling with happiness all the way and oblivious to the adventure that lays in front of her.... (Hi there! This is a child persona that is up for grabs! If you are interested in playing this delicate little flower, please either message Otakuu or Harfleurette on Discord for more details! 4. Recruitment for House Temesch et Martiel of Petra - Introduction - House Temesch et Martiel, a Comital vassal of the Commonwealth of Petra holds the lands of the County of Martiel, the Viscounty of Mies and the Barony of Resmore. Currently, there is one available child character in the mainline, born to the Count Adrian @Kaii, and Countess-consort Wilhelmina (née von Augusten). He is currently 9 years old. Please DM fire1003 on discord if you’re interested in learning more about / playing the kid below, and a skin can be provided: HIS LORDSHIP, Andreas Philip Temesch et Martiel (1959) - Family Lore - The Temesch et Resmore Household traces its roots to the founding of the Commonwealth of Petra. Since then, it has thrived as a part of Petra; with its history stretching back to the younger brother of the Commonwealth's Founder, Charles Joseph Temesch. Godfrey Marcellus, the son of Charles, emerged as one of the first individuals to attain his titles upon settling in the new lands. This marked the beginning era of a lineage that stands as one of the oldest noble families still thriving in Petra. Godfrey, a past figure in Petra's governance, served as one of the Grand Speakers of the Petra. In addition to sitting as Grand Speaker, Godfrey aided in funding exploration and the expansion into the lands nearby the City of Vallagne. As the Viscount of Mies, Godfrey, and Lorena were blessed with four children, with the youngest, Adrian Godfrey, assuming the title of Viscount following the revocation of his elder brother’s titles from the Commonwealth. In keeping with his father's legacy, Adrian took on the roles of Viscount and Grand Speaker of the Garmont Assembly. In 1953, he entered into matrimony with Wilhelmina von Augusten of the Viscounty of Azor in Petra. The couple was blessed with the birth of three children in 1954, followed by another in 1955, and 1956, thereby continuing the lineage of the Temesch et Resmore Household. In 1959, Adrian Godfrey saved the life of Queen Catherine in a valiant battle, and was rewarded with a County due to his service, and the contributions made by himself and his family during their span as a Viscomital House. In 1961, the royal house of the Petra took their historical surname Temesch of the Petra, and Temesch of Martiel split into a junior branch of Temesch et Martiel.
  5. The Py’lrie sigil, captivating a representation of the Talinii ancestors, Tayna’len and her two sons, Elauthinleon and Panithleon, shown at the two albino panthers by her side. History The Py'lrie have been around for a long time, but for most people, it's easiest to divide their history into two sections, both connected by one figure: Tayna'len. She's the only one who's lived long enough to see the Talonii grow from their bloody past of infighting and internal conflict to a much more peaceful and united Talonii. The Talonii's true conflict started with the appearance of magic in the bloodline. Those who were old and traditional opposed it staunchly, as it was different and new. They forbade their younger relatives from learning it altogether, which sparked many an argument in the household. As with all things forbidden, it only grew more and more until the Talonii started truly fighting each other. Blood was being shed over the use of magic forbidden by the elders. Young Tayna'len's parents had been learning magic, and they were punished harshly for it. Many of her closest loved ones had died while learning magic, and she had witnessed cruelty firsthand. Years of cruelty and punishment had caused many to fight or flee, and so did Tayna'len with her relatives. They were escaping by the skin of their teeth from the Talonii elders, who were hunting them, never staying in one place for too long. Many of those who had spent those years on the run were still expanding their knowledge of magic until they had finally become capable of truly fighting back. The tide had begun to turn as those who learned magic began to beat back the elders with their newly obtained knowledge. They sieged the home of the elders, where they lived together. However, they were not much different than those who hunted them, as they had brutally killed the head of the Talonii during that siege, causing the proverbial floodgates to open and unleash total war. It lasted for over a century, tearing the Talonii apart and causing much pain on both sides. By the time it had ended, countless members were dead or missing, and even more were left grieving for the loss of their loved ones. As far as Tayna'len was concerned, she was left alone to rebuild the Talonii. She was unwilling to work with the older members who had perpetuated the conflict for so long and decided to start fresh. Over time, she met and fell in love twice, starting the Talonii anew. She had two sons, one with each father, and though their fathers were different, they treated each other as Talonii no matter what. Tayna'len had instilled in them the virtue of Talonii first, to protect those closest, so that what she went through for all those years would never repeat itself again. These brothers would have children and expand the Talonii, each in their own way, but as one Talonii with two bloodlines. Their descendants have come to live in the lands of Celia'nor, some settling down and others wandering, yet never forgetting their blood ties. The current members of Py'lrie have fought to defend Celia'nor, and for their loyalty and dedication, they were rewarded as some of the most well-respected nobles in the land. Beliefs & Morals Talonii First As far as beliefs go, the Talonii hold one thing above all others and consider it paramount. To them, it is almost sacred, and breaking away from it is out of the question. This belief is evident when speaking to a member of the Talonii; they all abide by it as if it were indisputable. This all stems back to Tayna'len and her own experiences, where she cast aside all those who betrayed this ideal and started anew. Betrayal of Talonii To the Py'lrie, going against your Talonii is a cardinal sin that will be punished severely, no matter the situation. If you kill another member of the Talonii, they are to be hunted for the rest of your life. Though not all deceptions are so great as to lead to death, some are of a lesser nature. However small, though, the memories of the mali are lengthy, and they will remind you for the rest of your life what you've done wrong. Betrayal of Friends & In-laws The closest of friends are considered dear, although not akin to Talonii. They would protect them closely and be very loyal to them; for if one is not loyal to their friends, how could they be loyal to their talonii? Those who marry into the Talonii are treated as equals, although they would be cast out more easily for mistakes. Natural & Unnatural Deaths If one passes from natural causes, they are well taken care of during their dying days. The Talonii tries to fulfill any wishes and stays by their side until the end. It is not uncommon, though, for dying members of the Talonii to find it too unbearable to be with their loved ones before the end and to disappear abruptly. The Talonii itself assumes that when an elderly member disappears like that, they are leaving to die in solitude. The death of a Talonii member is a grave matter, and they would mourn their loss greatly. The Talonii mourn them day-to-day, with each day representing a year in the life of the member who passed. They do this out of respect and for the time they spent serving the Talonii during their lives. Traditions With Child When a Py'lrie is bearing a child, they are protected and cared for very well. It is tradition for those who are pregnant to always have at least one person assisting them. The person assisting must be trained in first aid in case something happens. Sometimes, those who are not members of the Talonii are entrusted with this role, and it is considered a great honor. Coming of Age Becoming an adult is an important and celebrated occurrence, and for the Py'lries, it occurs at the age of 30. To come of age means you are given the freedom to take whatever path in life, whether it be leaving and traveling or marriage. Marriage As far as the vow of matrimony is concerned, it is highly encouraged to find another High Elf to marry, and if you do not abide by this, it will be considered a mistake. It is not shameful, but it is discouraged. According to tradition, you are to be married facing the sea. In some instances, you may even be married on board an embarked ship! This stems from times when the hunted members of the Talonii fled, leaving many with no choice but to state their vows upon a ship. The marriage is to be approved and overseen by the head of the Talonii, and if it isn’t, it isn't considered official by the Py'lrie. Commemoration of Honor When a member of the Talonii dedicates their life to warfare, there is a grand celebration, for it is considered a great honor to protect your land. Traditional Markings Body art and markings have a long history among the Talonii, with various meanings and serving as reminders, both good and bad. The two markings are "Fih Kae'leh" and "Malieir." When a member of the Talonii recognizes the true meaning behind the words "Fih Kae'leh," they have it tattooed on their body in recognition. Most adult members of the Talonii have gotten this tattoo at some point, and it is considered a rite of passage by some. The marking "Malieir" is used to identify traitors–those who have committed the greatest treachery and betrayal. There is no escaping this fate, either, as those who run away before they are marked will be found, and the tattoo will be applied to them by force. Talonii Markings “Fih Kae’leh” “Feed Your Soul” is a phrase long passed down within the Py’lrie. It is taught to each member as an important lesson they must come to understand. In the eyes of the Talonii, one cannot truly care for and protect others until they can truly satisfy their own soul and care for themselves. “Malieir” “Betrayer” is a phrase branded on the palms of traitors and wrongdoers within the Talonii, showing the lands of Malin all the wrongs they’ve committed and having them disowned from the Py’lrie name and household. Those who murder other Talonii are branded once they are killed, and their marked corpses are abandoned in the forest to be forgotten. Personality Though the two branches have their differences, their biggest shared trait is their protectiveness. Both have a strong desire to protect what they have and their friends and Talonii. Similarly, all members of the Talonii have a strong desire and willingness to experience new things and are open-minded. They also have a deep, intrinsic connection to their Talonii and ancestors, often honoring them in times of need with shrines made for their ancestors, in particular Tayna'len Py'lrie and her two sons. However, their similarities end there, as they have very different ways to show these tendencies. Elauthinleon's bloodline is quick to act and decisive in times of need, especially when it comes to Talonii. They are temperamental but not overly violent. They are far more sedentary, having settled down and grown to love the land they live on. Overall, they are far more disciplined than their cousins, with a bit of a stern countenance. They are more inclined to physical activity and exercise, generally being quite athletic. Panithleon's branch, on the other hand, is free-spirited and artistic to the core. They are always on the move, seeking out the new and unknown so that they may experience it and learn more about the world they live in. Due to their less strict nature, they often have an easier time connecting with people they meet and befriending them. Their way of showing affection and love is through gifts. Physical Appearance & Traits For the most part, the two branches of the Talonii share several traits, as they have inherited much from Tayna'len Py'lrie. For instance, both predominantly have blonde hair and faded blue eyes. Many members of the Talonii also have wavy hair, as opposed to the more common straight hair. Their skin is generally quite pale, and they stand over six feet tall. Both sides of the Talonii also share a common allergy to honey and bees. Of course, regardless of the shared mother, the two different branches are bound to have some distinguishing traits due to the different fathers in both. Elauthinleon Py'lrie's branch occasionally has members with pale green eyes as well as white hair in addition to the previously mentioned blonde hair and blue eyes of both branches. Overall, the members of this branch are taller than their cousins. The biggest differentiator is their different ear shapes, as theirs point backwards instead of upwards. They have narrow eyes, slim and sharp features, and generally many small birthmarks over their bodies. Panithleon Py'lrie's branch has a rare few members with distinct purple eyes, with their skin being paler than their cousins. Some of them would occasionally also have a more silvery blonde hair color and be a little shorter than the other branch. Their ears tend to be pointed upwards quite a bit more than their cousins, and their features are noticeably softer with kind eyes. The one birthmark that stands out is the one strand of very white hair at the back of their head. [OOC: Py'lrie Discord: https://discord.gg/g8swJr6Nms ]

  9. Penned by Bianka Ophelia Jazloviecki, 6th of Owyn’s Flame, 1901 Throughout the many years of my familial turmoil, I have put forth myself to keep this house afloat. The waves crash against our family’s reputation as we sail on the open continent of Almaris and set foot in Petrine Land, creating a place of sanctuary for our bloodline. With the death of my father and mother, the leadership of the family had fallen to my oldest brother; however, nearly a year after he completely disappeared, the succession of the family went to my older sister. Very unfortunately, she had fallen ill during the winter cold of the same year, an illness not able to be cured with known medicine. Another many years passed while I played Lady Regent, praying my dear sister would regain her strength to guide our house but praying was never enough. In desperate need, I consulted with my sister, and we both have made a decision that I shall be the matriarch of House Jazloviecki and the succession line shall follow my branch of this family, being passed to my children, followed by my children’s children. With this conclusion, I wish for The Commonwealth of Petra to honor this arrangement if anyone were to question the legitimacy of my hold on the House of Jazloviecki. SIGNED, Lady Bianka Ophelia Jazloviecki, Matriarch of House Jazloviecki, Grand Chamberlain of River Court
  10. Freyja Ragnarrssdottir Mösu Easing the Growing Pains of Balian Balian is no longer a young nation, and it is past time that it be preoccupied with a young nation’s struggles. Too long have its citizens suffered under threat of banditry; too long have they lived in fear of darkspawn, vampyres, and other such bloodthirsty creatures living in their midst. Now is not the time for our Senators to content themselves with promising its citizens pastries and goodies. Balian is no more a tender yearling; it is a full-grown nation, and you must elect strong leaders who will ensure the safety of its citizens and the security of the realm. Look no further than Freyja Ragnarrssdottir Mösu, Baroness-Regent of Ciavola. Rising to power out of a family ravaged both by vampirism and by Balian’s inconsistent response to the threat of darkspawn, and being a devout Canonist herself, she vows to codify Balian’s stance towards spooks and to strictly enforce this new code. Just as spooks have torn apart her family, so Freyja will not let the same thing happen to her new family of Balian. She will work alongside Balian’s Inquisitors to make sure that no spooks can apply for citizenship within Balian’s walls. Neither will any spooks who are currently citizens be able to rest easy, growing fat and rich without fear of discovery. As Senator, with the help of Balian’s Royal Inquisition, Freyja will launch a city-wide Inquisition to root out the decay in our midst, so that one man need not mistrust his brother within the walls of Atrus. In this way, she will make sure that no child of Balian must lie awake in fear of monsters lurking in their midst. Coming from a line of belligerent warriors, Freyja also well understands the importance of defending Balian’s citizens from bandits and thieves. The camel caravans have made the road to Balian more secure, but danger still lurks between the Oasis and the Stairway to Heaven. Freyja will help to ensure that Balian soldiers regularly patrol the road to the Oasis, so that the citizenry of Balian may feel adequately protected by their rulers. She will also help to arm every head of household, so that the men and women of Balian may protect their own and become feared by every two-bit gang of ne’er-do-wells. In these ways, as Senator, Freyja Mösu will play an active role in the defense and security of the Kingdom of Balian. A woman of action, a fervent patriot, a devout Canonist, a capable leader, a mother and sister to every citizen of Balian: these are but a few descriptors of Freyja Ragnarssdottir Mösu. Vote for peace. Vote for safety. Vote for security. Vote for Freyja Mösu.

  13. Mondblume Family Lore Limo_Man (Ziggity #0979) | Amelot the Brave and ozark (0zark#2665) | Zeydl Mondblume A manual for those in the Mondblume family. A history of the family name and origins. Family Origins The Lore of the Moon Rose Spoiler: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ydaj81_E7LU A ranger stood alone in a valley of freshly fallen snow. He had never enjoyed the city life, the noise, the cobblestone keep towers which hide those fortunate enough to be born rich nobility. His short, messy, light blond hair shined in the dark night. The blackened sky almost entirely darkened, except a brightly shining full moon center sky. The ranger’s cloak tussled in the light winter night wind, a bow strung over his shoulder with a quiver full of arrows. The ranger stood silent gazing into the darkness of the forests around him. As he would step in the snowy fields the crisp snow crackled and stirred along with him. Snowy mountains surrounded him as he sauntered through a thicket of pine trees. He was searching… perhaps hunting for dinner... perhaps he searched for something more. The wandering ranger flipped his cowl from his ranger cloak up over his head as the forest wind began to pick up. The trees croaked and moaned in the night as the blizzard approached. It became evident that the ranger was in need of shelter. The ranger’s head rotated searching until his entire body froze and tensed. He came into view of a tight cave entrance in which he could slide into for shelter. Ducking his head under the rocky cave roof as his body was engulfed by the opening in the mountain. The ranger found himself looking around the cave walls covered in thick moss and dripping stalactites from the ceiling. It became evident that this cave had not been disturbed in a great many years. As he walked through the darkened cave he noticed a light to the back of the cave… the hiss of steel echoed in the cave as his blade was drawn. The cave became eerily silent as the ranger approached the growing light. Spoiler: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qbcGRNDiaKM A white rose stood before him shining in the moonlit light through an opening in the ceiling of the cave onto a patch of the greenest grass and thicket the ranger had ever seen. A stone cross lay behind it lit by the glowing moonlight in the cave. Etched into the cross were the words, “Those who seek clarity need only taste a petal.” The ranger set up a small fire in the darkened cave, using his small metal cooking pot to heat some winter snow into fresh steaming water. Delicately the ranger cut off a small petal from the moonlit rose and dropped it into his steamed water. Strangely the petal dissolved instantaneously into the water turning the liquid a silvery white color as if moon dust itself had been sprinkled in. The ranger grasped the pot of steamed water, closing his eyes he drank the petal laced liquid. A strange sensation enveloped him. As the ranger opened his eyes the cave was gone. His mind unhinged as he could see clearly what he was searching for. The ranger could see only the glow of the moon in his mind setting him in a fevered trance. His purpose which he had been searching for his entire life was revealed in a brief instant. The lone ranger entered the ancient cave lost but left a renewed man with purpose. He left a Mondblume. The original family participated in this conflict on the opposing side of Bralt the Boar and his invading Scyfling forces. Øzark Mondblume, before adopting his family name, participated in a great deal of battles serving as a Haense Royal Army Ranger during the conflict. His army regiment saw the most battles and largest casualties during the invasion. This war was a major turning point in the beginnings of the journey into the creation of the Mondblume family. Inferni Conflict 1776 The strength of this family was put to the test, for the first real time, in the Inferi war that had been waged near the end of Almaris. In this engagement, the two founding Mondblumes were forever remembered as war heroes of this brutal battle which left one of them in the seven skies. Amelot the Brave. This honorable man had quite a history in Haense’s great city, leaving the lands with five daughters to carry on his legacy. Deserters of the Haeseni throne Taking place right after the Inferi war had finished, and the new lands of Almaris presented themselves, a good sum of the Mondblumes left Haense’s lands in search of another. This hurt the fledgling house, almost causing the house of Mondblume to be left in the dust of history as Øzark Mondblume and several other Mondblumes went with him; only three of the original ten members of Mondblumes remained. Yet the remaining loyal members kept going. The Attenlund Expedition Forever astray, our members of the family scraped and scrambled toward regaining some sense of reputation within Haense - broken by a portion of the lineage seceding from Karosgrad’s steel gates. Though years and years passed, yet it seemed nothing was in the family’s gaze of desperation. Nothing for them to grasp or latch onto; to bring their name out of the cold mud. Eventually, A large expedition to new lands was called upon the nation. Hildebrand Mondblume and his son Albrecht Mondblume were chosen as expedition leaders to host and conquer the lands unknown. Throughout the time in the Attenlund, the Mondblumes had done a fine score for the kingdom - redeemed and recognized for their dire efforts after decades of a no man’s land. The Barony of Richtenburg A small sum of years after the Attenlund expedition was the first court session since the Mondblumes had returned to the city. A large score of citizens amassed within the palace halls, happily waiting to be met with their Koeng’s presence. Once court had begun, Ser Hildebrand Mondblume was called to stand before the Koeng, Koeng Heinrik, as he was made Lord of the newly named Baron house of Mondblume. ~Mondblume Family Traditions~ The Wild Hunt This ‘trial’ sort to speak, is where a young Mondblume, who has yet to be initiated into the family as an adult, is sent outside of Karosgrad’s warm protection to prove in the harsh cold of the Rimeveld region. Said Mondblume child is expected to not return until they’ve successfully hunted a wolf and anything else they managed to gather, while also having to survive solely off of their surroundings as they hunt. Perhaps the most important part of this Hunt is acquiring a white pedal of a rose to symbolize their presence in the family. Later on, this pedal is to be buried/burnt along with the Mondblume who had gathered it during their trial. A Kin’s Bout Whenever Mondblume relatives experience conflict amongst one another, and is not being resolved, the members must take up a competition/bout in hunting. Whoever manages to get more for a feast that will follow this friendly bout is declared the winner, and thus rising as the winner to the original conflict between family. The Grimgold Pact Back when the Mondblumes were still coming to life, in the first line of the family, Amelot the Brave challenged one of the Dwarven marshals to a duel of sorts. Alaric Grimgold was his name, and he made the young Amelot a deal in his early years. One that he’d have to carry on his own. The small agreement required him to grow and progress through the ranks of the BSK - underneath the great marshal Erwin Barclay. Eventually the boy deemed himself ready for this spar, though wasn’t ever able to finish his deal before his passing in the Inferi war’s final engagement. After Amelot’s demise, his family inherited mostly everything that he’d owned - including the duel against Alaric Grimgold. Though, this fated and fabled duel has begun to drift into more of myth and legend to the Mondblume lines - leaving the trial of dueling a Grimgold in a friendly spar in order to prove themselves as stalwart heroes and accomplished warriors who’ve thoroughly lived their lives. ~A History of House Patriarchs~ ~0zark Mondblume~ Not only one of the two founders of the Mondblumes, but was also a successful leader within the HRA. He used to be in control of the Ranger unit within Haense until it was disbanded, making many friends in the great cities of Haense while patriarch. Unfortunately, once the rangers had been disbanded, the adorned war hero felt it time to hang up his rank in Haense and offer his talents to the forming ranger squad within Norland’s city of Elysium. ~Ser Hildebrand Mondblume The Gryphon //Master of the Hunt// //executioner of Koeng Heinrik//~ Hildebrand Mondblume was a knight of Haense, adorned by the moniker of 'The Gryphon'. This knight's time in Haense as the house patriarch set the Mondblumes on a path to gain Barony - through his efforts in the expedition as the Koeng's executioner, the strong presence he and his son Albrecht Mondblume held in the nation's duma, and his time served under both The Order of The Crow and the HRA/BSK. This will be added to in the future whenever we get new lore to put in.
  14. “Life is a dance, darling… All wear their masks in this waltzing masquerade and you are either one of the dancers, or one that makes the music.” - Melusina von Drakenhof Art by me! Where there are men of true battle-earned honor and fortune, one can only wonder where the remaining folk of past crumbled empires and kingdoms coalesce in their wayward, lost visions of splendor and regality. These are the forgotten folk who have had their crowns ripped from them, justly or wrongfully, the cunning usurpers of past thrones who then taste their own justice, the skeletons of long-retired military lords who ruled with martial might… The men forever divorced from the endless cyclical hell that is humanity’s political sphere. These are the folk of the ‘noble’ line of Von Drakenhof. History The ashes of the calamity of Anthos tore the greatest united force of men ever seen asunder like a hunk of fresh meat to wolves. Some men clung to what luster their folly crowns and pride might comfort them, but many scattered in search for a more prosperous promise of reclaiming power and fortune. For the first of the line, Melusina’s journey took her to the protected outskirts of the Teutonic Hanseti, where the DeNurem line ruled without question. Melusina in life was the young bride of a vile Marcus Horen, whom her family married her to to secure political gain and protection at the height of the Empire’s power. She herself was a cerebral and scholarly youth with manic tendencies, but bore no affection to the convenient pairing she was thrown into at the behest of her sire. Pale and fair with locks rivaling the shadows of raven’s wings, she was like a porcelain statue brought to life. While her heart burned with disdain to the brutish man to which she was lawfully wed, the cunning young wife bid her time in quiet subservience whilst the collective forces of the world and Setherien rained doom upon the lost realm of Anthos. Despite bearing no real love for the Horen, she fled faithfully at his side at the crumbling of the world behind them into the Fringe. He proclaimed as they trudged through the ghoulish soul-sand of the wastes to the fabled fortress of the Teutonic order that she would bear his heirs and erect a grander, nobler kingdom of humanity with himself as the patriarch from the ashes of the fallen Empire. Of course, the proposition disgusted the young Melusina… wed so soon for convenience and so soon to bear offspring of a vile man. She would refuse his demands and plotting that night. That was the last time that he ever laid hands upon her in anger… A swift bottle of wine to the back of the head brought the man to his knees. Melusina was not a violent woman, and the attack from his bride certainly took him by fatal surprise. There was a portion of her soul that undoubtedly delighted in the deliciously vengeful murder of this man. He was no spouse, let alone a worthy man deserving of some valiant end. So the wine and blood flowed along the grout of the cobble beneath their day-old home like thick molasses in winter… slow and robust. There she raised her beloved Chalice in small, bloody victory, and drank the remnants of that blood-tainted wine. Melusina had never tasted a vintage so sweet. So she abandoned the heinous name of Horen and adopted her own lineage. One of the life she could have had as a carefree noble, loved by one of her choosing in a world less cursed. Melusina left her hovel that night as Von Drakenhof - A noble of her own right, given by none and maintained by none, of the utmost regality, intelligence, and superiority over the pathetic remnants of humanity. The Lady von Drakenhof did eventually marry a Sariant of the Teutonic Order, a bastard DeNurem and the only man the woman would love faithfully and genuinely. She would bear two sons at the age of twenty-six, in the same year that the plagues of the Fringe would rip her beloved from her embrace forever. Widowed and a new mother, she remained in the tiny village of Fringe Hanseti and fostered her two boys with her delusion of true, eternal nobility. There the Von Drakenhof line spread, erecting various castles in which their family would reside at the rule of none but themselves to the current age. The Line of Von Drakenhof The men and women of this lineage crave the illusion that they are nobles, and delight in the care of their outward appearance to a near maniacal standard. Pale, unblemished skin is most desirable with steely grey or muted shades of blue in their eyes. The trait of deeply black hair seems to run dominant among this line, as well as the curious affliction of sleepless nights or dreamly terrors particularly of the women in the family. It is said that it is the troubles of Melusina von Drakenhof herself manifesting in her favored descendants, and while it is quite distressing and sometimes tortuous to the inheritors, it is deemed as an otherworldly blessing. Von Drakenhof trend taller for men and women, but can become more frail in comparison due to their decadent lifestyle. With their ancestor spending much of her later life in the presence of the Teutonic Order under Hochmeister Mirtok, the mannerisms of speaking and accent derive much from the Marian language. They use older and archaic words to ensure that they are distinguished from common folk. Occasionally, they may choose to entirely abandon common altogether when speaking with kin in a clever method to conceal sensitive information from those they deem unworthy. A portrait of the ‘Count’ Volker von Drakenhof and his daughter, ‘Lady’ Hesperia von Drakenhof To see a member of Von Drakenhof in any state of imperfection or dishevelment is about as rare as a unicorn sighting. This family cannot stand the thought of descending anywhere near the state of peasant status or that of the lessers of mankind, and will go to great lengths to ensure that their state of attire is nothing short of kingly or queenly at all times. For men, tailed coats and laced ties are common, with women bearing corsets, dresses and veils to protect their complexions. Anyone after a quick glance may be able to determine that many of the dressing styles of the family revolves around the idea of gargoyles and battish creatures of the night, adorning themselves in dark and fine cloths gilded and crowned with expensive gems. An armored Von Drakenhof is uncommon though not unheard, for the work of the soldier is associated with those of lesser than noble blood and is usually only worn for the cause of home defense. Generally the folk of Von Drakenhof follow the three guiding pillars as set forth by Melusina’s scriptures written for the teaching of her sons: The Gargoyle, the Tombstone, and the Marionette. The Gargoyle “Protect thine kin, always. We are a superior folk baptised by the teachings of humanity’s past sins and bloodshed. Do not overly scorn thine servant nor thine handmaiden, and remain true to thine beloved. Betray not the brother, sister, mother or brother - but deliver cunning revenge should they betray my blood.” Von Drakenhof are ferociously loyal to those in their family, and maintain servants and friends with a firm but fair hand. While their mannerisms might seem cruel towards their servants, they reward the faithful tenants well by granting them certain powers above those below them. Butlers and Lady’s Maids of Von Drakenhof are nearly just as well dressed and wealthy as their masters. It is by a careful art of balancing the carrot and the stick that they maintain loyalty, and it has not been unheard of for unruly or disloyal servants to ‘go missing’ suddenly as if by some just punishment by karma. The family line is exempt from punishment in most instances, as this ‘noble’ line can surely do no wrong... The Tombstone “Honor our dead. Teachings of souls departed from this world shalt not fade with time but be carved upon pages and scrolls like their names upon the stone of their final resting place. Remember the promise, the pledge, and good deeds from friends, and repay them in kind. Neglecting the honor from the lessers invites poor intentions.” Dead kin are nearly saintly to these folk, and they will go to great lengths to ensure that the final rites and rituals of the newly dead are completed in knightly splendor. There is always a tombstone erected over their grave with their name for all alive or yet to be born to see, and even when a great move is needed they will uncover their coffins and take them along their journey to a new cemetery to rest and watch over their family. It is the greatest honor to oversee their family in death, for it is believed that the beloved dead may be freely spoken to and meditated with on the calm chill of a young night. Chieftest of all is the grave of Melusina von Drakenhof and her sons themselves, who bear beautifully decorated resting places that are constantly maintained. Promises made to others are scarcely neglected when made. When treated with the respect, praise and reverence they crave, a Von Drakenhof will be a faithful ally until their last breath. For them it is like a king fulfilling a glorious task for their people, a favor returned that will surely beget further praise and loyalty. Curses and pledges of retribution are just as keenly remembered, though repaid in much more cunning and brutal ways befitting the crime. The Marionette “There are few in this world that truly mean to help us. All men wear their mask, afraid to expose their feeble underbelly, their futile dreams and noxious desires in their dance for self-gratification. A true noble knows how to puppeteer all, for they are part of the intricate web of servitude to Von Drakenhof. The servant, the friend, and the enemy; all shall serve thee in their own accords.” Discreetly cunning and nearly always playing a mindful game of chess with all that cross their path, Von Drakenhof folk are always surely plotting what role their next acquaintance or greeting of a friend will bring them. While their enemies are certainly deserving of crueler tricks and schemes, there are not necessarily overtly harmful outcomes for those that they deem acceptable of the society around them. While the servant may find that their tasks become more and more varied outside of simple servitude by way of the sway devilish charm, a rival may find that misfortune may strike them at the most ripe inopportune time. Woe be to those that truly cross the guile of Von Drakenhof, for they do delight in faux courts made entirely of their kin to deal ghoulish and dastardly punishments that may or may not lead to their total demise. Lifestyle, Architecture and Family Structure While these nobles hold no true claim over anything of substance within the political geography of the world, they will often hold their own courts of intrigue amongst themselves. Plotting, aristocratic socialization, feasts, and masquerades are among the many routinely conducted happenings of the household. Brutish activities of duels or tavern parties are far beneath the decorum of the house, and guests welcomed and liked enough to be invited to the dining hall of Von Drakenhof should surely expect to be treated like family for the evening. One would find the dinner to be quite long and decadent, with some choosing to voluntarily vomit to create more room for delicacies and sweets. While they generally detest the devout and practice in no religion themselves, they are generally tolerant of most magics both mundane and of darker nature. Any power that might potentially elevate their status further as a superior man from their peers is deeply interesting to these folk, even if the magics or the users may not have the holiest of intentions. Reverence of any one deity is generally disdained, as there are none that come before the blood of Von Drakenhof in their eyes. When the Castle Drakenhof is erected on whatever lands they desire, it is certainly a chilling sight to behold. With lines of gargoyles and menacing heights of spires piercing the sky, the stones of the beloved family castle can appear quite haunting at first. Inside, however, is the most opulent of living quarters for their brood. Thick draped windows of stained glass, chandeliers that catch the low light like glacial ice, and the low-warmth of candlelight would mesmerize even the most decorated of kings. The light is kept intentionally low within to maintain that venerated fair skin of porcelain, and nearly every wall is decorated with portraits of past or living members of the family. Libraries of coveted knowledge, dining halls of glittering goblets and glasses, and endless rooms of near unfathomable collective luxury reside within. The wine cellar, the cemetery, the court hall, dining hall and drawing room are all considered essential portions of any suitable Von Drakenhof living facilities. Any good master would not forget the humble and faithful servant, and so their living quarters are of course in fine condition… with the accompanying dungeons similarly of regal but menacing character. The family of Von Drakenhof are equals within their own eyes, the only difference in standing is their direct parents. A single member is given the title of ‘Count’ which is used only for dealings in which the collective family or foreign power is involved and requires a concise voice amongst the family. You will find many thrones among the living space of the house, with none no more grand than their kin’s. All family members bear there own particular ring that is unique to them or handed down from an ancestor. It is a common gesture of a Von Drakenhof's first meeting to offer their ring towards their acquaintance to kiss - and one would do well to know that it will be forever remembered if this gesture is declined or ignored. Dates of Renown While not devoutly religious to any name, the line of Von Drakenhof is severely superstitious. Stories of ghosts, ghouls, all manner of mythical beasts alike are like sweet fairytales that guide their mannerisms spiritually. Some dates are especially sacred to the family, most of which involve the remembrance of the dead or the celebration of the macabre. Hexensnacht The Witching Night, or day before the New Year in which it is believed ghosts come about in search of the energy of the living to keep them tethered to the world, or as a send off as they choose to depart for another life. A great ball is held during the night, and a fantastical feast by day in which they invite the spirits of the dead to join their waltzing and dining late into the evening. As the last bell tolls for the completion of the final hour of the year, all lights are snuffed out for a few long minutes in total darkness so that it may be easier for the spirits to be sent on their way. All Hallow’s Eve The autumnal celebration of all things dark and spooky, where a great costumed masquerade is held. Dressing in a particular beast or monster of one’s fancy is common and believed to protect the wearer from real things that might be afoot on that night. Carving gourds into spectral faces by candlelight wards off the demons that emerge to seed foul energies among the unprepared. The young of the family may venture out and seek out sweet treats from the people that live about, or play tricks upon those that their parents may or may not have mentioned doing something distasteful at the dinner table once… Day of the Dead A late-year celebration of the deceased Von Drakenhof members. It is this day where the belongings of their dead relatives are worn to bring them to life for a day. Faces are made in the likeness of the portraits of the dead, and they quite literally ‘relive’ the being of their relatives for a chosen day. Prayers and gifts are showered upon the very real graves of said family, and only when the day is done may the Von Drakenhof bathe themselves in a perfumed basin and reclaim themselves, swearing to remember the teachings and glory of their ancestors.
  15. The Marbrand Militia Founded by Jory Marbrand, 1548. The Marbrand Militia is a militaristic assembly of those whom wish to fight proudly for the realm of Vandoria, and the house of Marbrand. Built upon the virtuous values of courage, loyalty, and honor it encourages those of any ethnicity or race to register for the militia. ~ This newly founded military association is heavily affiliated with the kingdom of Vandoria, and is sworn devotedly to serve and protect the realm. All soldiers of the Marbrand Militia will be offered a place within the kingdom and the current patriarch of House Marbrand will possibly chance you with a home within the holdings of the house. ~ All persons over the age of fourteen are permitted to join the Marbrand Militia, them being either female or male. Minors below the age of fourteen may still associate themselves with the noble house, as pages and students of the current soldiers. ~ The militia's base of operations is found in the holdings of House Marbrand, the lordship of Marbrand and the riverkeep of Marford. Any member who desires to fight valorously for the realm and the house of Marbrand may contact either Jory Marbrand, Sigjira Marbrand, or a soldier found with the tabard upon their visage. ~ Marbrand Divisions The Marbrand Militia is separated into four distinct divisions to cater to the skills and abilities of certain figures. This procedure is used to accurately train, command and organize those with diverse capabilities and strengths. ~ 1st Division - Elite The 1st Division is a department of the militia that holds the most highly trained soldiers of the entire association. There are only seven or so soldiers that would be found within the 1st Division, and is extremely awarding to be placed among such strong and competent warriors. ~ 2nd Division - Competent The 2nd Division is a department of the militia that holds competent soldiers that train diligently and loyally. They are held in high regard by their peers and are trusted with errands and duties that may been seen difficult by others. It is quite awarding still, to be placed within this division. ~ 3rd Division - Sound The 3rd Division is a department of the militia that holds soldiers that have passed the examinations and assessments of their commanders, and are ready to fight and serve loyally. The standard requirement of the entire association, without this division, there would be no standing platform to steady the entire build. ~ 4th Division - Miscellaneous The 4th Division is a department that is seen foreign to most. Figures of foreign crafts, such as engineering, construction, agricultural, and of course the arcane arts can be founded here. 16. Frederiqe de Bar Age Thirty-seven Height 5’7 Appearance Frederique wears a tiresome expression across her face. Her features are narrow, and tight. They consist of sharp edges, and casts off a curt sight. Frederique wears prominent bags beneath her eyes, most likely due to the lack of sleep she receives. She has long, black unattended hair, which is mostly pinned back with a golden clip. Her dark shimmering eyes are hidden behind some of her black locks, which she shares with the whole de Bar family. Personality The noblewoman keeps a sullen gaze drifting over her environment, and prefers to observe rather than speaking. A blunt, and dull tone is mixed in her voice, which signs the little interest she usually presents to you. Like her two brothers, Frederique is more calculating in any situation, and gives off a cold impression. Family Parents: Richard de Bar, Ipera Carrion Siblings: Adrian de Bar, Guy de Bar Spouse: Otto Rovin (deceased) Children: Klara de Bar, Baldwin de Bar Nieces: Annabelle de Bar, Lucienne de Sola née de Bar Nephews: Carden de Bar, Denis de Bar, Adelric de Bar, Sergius de Bar, Joachim de Bar, Edmond de Bar (deceased) Distant Family: Emelie de Bar née de Sola (sister-in-law)
