The ground before the Imperial Legions and citizens began to crumble, sinking into the bowels of the land as a great stone behemoth emerged, swinging his tentacle like appendage across the grassy plains. Men who were not fast enough to escape the monstrosity were tossed far from the rest of the military, far out of sight. Despite the men’s best efforts to bring down the foe before them, it was obvious regular weapons forged of steel had little effect on it. Recognizing the beast was perhaps on its way to Johannesburg, Ser Vitallius called for a tactical retreat to bring in more reinforcements and to gather supplies for siege weaponry.

Some of the Legionaries stayed behind to keep the titan at bay as their comrades and the civilians retreated, particularly members of the 2nd Legion of Haense who began to climb their way up onto the titan in hopes of finding a weak spot.

Ser Vitallius returned to the battered men who stayed behind keeping the monster busy with reinforcements, including His Imperial Highness Leopold of Marna. Quickly, Leopold began to organize the Sappers and other Legionnaires from the Nauzica and Death’s Head brigades into siege teams upon the construction of two trebuchets. Because of its large size, the titan creeped slowly towards the siege teams as rocks were flung towards its head. A single shot from a trebuchet cracked the monster’s jaw leaving its mouth gaping open thus revealing the soft matter that was under its rocky exterior.

All was not well, however. The titan swung one of its appendages down upon the siege teams, destroying the trebuchets. A small team under Decurion Mattington Ironsword constructed a makeshift ballista and began firing upon the titan as Ser Leopold lead a charge towards the beast and an assortment of men began to climb the retreating beast who was now crawling back into the pit it came from.

Ser Leopold, his squire Rakim, Ser Vitallius, Ser Abram, Ivan Zvonmir of the Nauzica Brigade and Count Sergei Kovachev of the Sons of the North made their way inside of the beast’s mouth, hacking at any tender spots they could find. As the titan writhed in agony, Ser Leopold discovered what appeared to be the heart. Death was almost certain for the brave Legionnaires who hacked a way at the beast’s heart as it began to sink back into the lava. As the heart began to bleed out, Ser Leopold rallied the legionnaires back with him as they made their way out of the monster’s mouth and climbed out of the crater before the lava could reach them.

The Qalasheen squire Rakim looked back down at the stone titan that laid dead in its own destruction.

“Eat my cock.” Rakim said to the dead titan before flipping it off. He headed back home with his comrades, carrying their trophies - teeth and other pieces of what was part of the threat that could have been to the people of Johannesburg.

Ser Leopold picks his teeth with a shard from the beast, still scented of its organic blood. He had swung about like a gorilla on the beast, using his pick's handle as leverage. He had lead his men to victory, through thick and thin. And most importantly, he had merged with its heart, the same way Niklas of Shackles wanted to enter poor Marja's.

Mattington Ironsword sits with his men in a tavern after a long fight.  He'd give a toast to Oren, and its new legions.
