On the doors of every house and every alley, a familiar thump would be heard followed by the sound of a hammer hitting a nail, some rushed to open their doors but would find only an envelope. Door by the door the stranger went, he nailed an envelope on each and every door. The following morning many an elf would find the envelopes, each one contained an algorithm and a letter.
