[UPDATED FEB 16] Blacklist Update

UPDATE (FEB 16): We are continuing discussions about crowns, and are waiting for a response from them. Last response from them was on Tuesday. As far as we can tell, we are the first MC server to implement a system like crowns - which complicates things on Mojang's end.

UPDATE (FEB 8): We received a reply saying our changes are good, however a discussion with them is continuing about crowns.

UPDATE (FEB 7): We received a very detailed response, telling us:

1. Assure our store is clear in indicating we are unaffiliated with Mojang. ResponseWe have done so.

2. Assure people can view purchase history online. ResponseThey can do so via our Crown plugin.

3. Change store background (it was Minecraft default wood). ResponseDone!

4. Remove mention of "donation" from store.lordofthecraft.net. ResponseDone!

They asked a question once again clarifying crowns, and we have responded. This was a very quick response from them and we hope to see it resolved soon.

UPDATE (FEB 6): We have received a response indicating us to be violating the following:

1. We are selling soft-currency.

2. We are using Mojang's logo.

We have replied indicating that Crowns are in-game hard-currency that can only be used to purchase VIP ranks, and that our in-game soft-currency, minas, can not be purchased. We also updated our store page to remove Mojang's logo.

Hello Lord of the Craft,

As many of you are aware, on Monday we had been blacklisted by Mojang for being in violation of the EULA. There have been some developments since then, and here is everything we know.

Before The Blacklist

1. Two to three months ago, a group of players reported us to Mojang for our Soulbinding feature, among other things. Back when we changed be EULA compliant last year, weapons and armour could not be Soulbound. However there was a bug in the code which made this break, and they could be Soulbound which had been fixed a couple of weeks ago. Weapons and armour were never meant to be Soulbound in any functional manner.

2. Our shop page was very outdated, and included misinformation about perks, such as that Gold VIP got CraftBook access. Since we changed to being EULA compliant CraftBook has been available to all players.

3. Mojang Enforcement did not contact us prior to being blacklisted. We knew that we had been blacklisted at the same time as the community. They have contacted us in the past, but the last we heard from them before being blacklisted was in early Summer on an unrelated matter.

Since The Blacklist

1. We contacted Mojang Enforcement asking for information about our blacklist on Monday, and Telanir gave the “Network Connection Error” update. We took down our store page as well. Telanir's topic has since been locked, please direct any questions/discussion to this thread.

2. We received a reply on Tuesday, informing us to refer to an email from July where they updated server owners on the new EULA rules. We asked for further information, and they replied on Wednesday, advising us to review this article, and that they would get back to us if we had more questions.

3. We sent a reply shortly after asking for more information, mainly specific violations.

4. On Thursday we began to hear reports and receive chat logs about us being reported for Soulbinding. We also researched other servers which have recently been blacklisted and unblacklisted for information.

4. On Friday we updated our Soulbinding plugin to be EULA compliant. This was at our own discretion, and not from directions given to us by Mojang. We also suspended voting tokens (we are awaiting clarification on if these comply with the EULA), and updated our store page.

5. We emailed Mojang Enforcement on Saturday informing them of our changes and clarifying our current perks.

What’s Next?

1. The server will be remaining up throughout the blacklist. We are currently complying with the restriction Mojang has put on us, and do not need to take further action to comply. This will not affect Mojang’s stance on our blacklist as far as we can tell from our research.

2. We will not be making any changes on our end to bypass the blacklist. You can however, on your own accord connect to the server (mc.lotc.co) using modded versions of Minecraft, such as the SquidHQ launcher.

3. We await a reply from Mojang Enforcement to know if we need to make any further changes to our VIP perks, however we now believe they are in accordance with the EULA. We expect to be unblacklisted within the week.

4. The Development Team is always working to make new VIP perks that are compliant with the EULA. Be ready, as we have some really fun things in mind!

5. Our store is still fully usable, and the perks on the updated store page are not likely to change. We hope you choose to support Lord of the Craft, especially during this time. We’ll make it through this, don’t you worry :)

That’s all the information we currently know involving the blacklist, and will update this thread should anymore updates come to light. We hope to see you all back in game soon, and after this is sorted we will be celebrating with a Double XP Weekend and champagne.

They said the same thing a long time ago about EULA and perks. No new perks have ever come out.

So staff is allowed to go on? Or is it just wise to just wait until we are fully running smoothly once again?

If one thing is true in this life it's that customer support is shitty regardless of who you are or where you're from.

LC for those who have purchased it is suspended until the blacklist is lifted:

Staff members may still use it for event/world builds, of course.

Would help if past articles regarding LoTC changes in accordance with EULA were posted here appropriately with their dates. Good to have a nice, clean timeline of events with citations should something like this pop up again, though mainly for players new and old being able to quickly click, check and feel reliant upon Administration. Just my 2 cents though.
