Izkuthii Addition & Clarifications

This lore is in the outdated section SOLELY because its contents have been merged with the original lore piece. All of the changes below were accepted and are still in practice.

Note to the LT: After consulting fooddude regarding the Spirit involvement here/gathering some suggestions, this thread’s goal is meant to give the Izkuthii a better purpose and new direction instead of just going around draining people of their emotions. A hierarchy is also being set, along with a few changes. If there is any concern with balancing, feel free to PM me as I’m open to tweaking some abilities.

Tl;dr - Clarifications (Things that weren’t clarified in the last piece):

Spoiler
  • Izkuthii takes up a magic slot.

  • Shamans, when in the presence of an Izkuthii, are capable of detecting strange spiritual energy in the area. They are not able to pinpoint the Izkuthii’s location right away and will need to be fairly close for it to be accurate (e.g. they wouldn’t be able to single out an Izkuthii in a crowded area immediately). Unlike when feeling Dark Shamans, the energy would be neutral and would be lacking the more corrupted/evil vibe. This can’t be done through walls and other obstacles that would block a person.

  • Izkuthii can detect each other when nearby (they can not identify who the other Izkuthii is if Camo is up, but they will be able to tell that they are brethren).

Tl;dr - Changes (new stuff):

Spoiler
  • The Mask of Veist is being introduced, which is used to create Ancient Izkuthii. A maximum of 3 Ancients may exist at any given time.

  • A hierarchy is now written out in conjunction with the Mask of Veist.

  • Appearance is being altered SLIGHTLY due to the acceptance of Sorvians (Sorvians have the same generic face/mask appearance).

    • An Izkuthii’s face is now fully faceless as opposed to a fleshy faceless. Mask is the same. (Reference photo in the spoiler below).

  • Izkuthii can now use illusionary barrages (detailed below). This is once again NON-LETHAL and doesn’t actually harm targets and is temporary.

  • The Izkuthii’s mask is more difficult to break, but when it is broken the Izkuthii will need to drain someone to gain the energy needed to recreate the mask (Thanks for the suggestion @Fitermon).

  • Izkuthii now have a “hibernation” mode to allow for people who can’t get on for extended periods of time to not be PK’d.

  • With the changes (magic slot + more Spirit oriented purpose), the current Izkuthii are being purged to let them think about if they wish to continue to play these creatures.

Mask of Veist

The Mask of Veist is fabled to be the mask of the original Izkuthii, immortalized after his death by Veist for his services. Storing an abnormal amount of energy compared to a regular Izkuthii’s mask, this relic is utilized in the creation of Ancient Izkuthii (detailed in the hierarchy). The mask does not hold an infinite amount of energy and will need to be recharged after each usage and when destroyed, a ritual is required which involves calling unto Veist.

On Veist

(This section is meant to elaborate more on the relationship between Veist/Izkuthii)

While Veist can not force every Izkuthii to follow him, he demands fealty from the Ancients and expects for the Ancients to guide the rest into carrying out his will. In an attempt to make his will more clear, Veist passed down the Tome of Veist (this is a book that will be introduced to all shamans which simply details what Veist expects from anyone seeking to follow them, currently being worked on by myself which will be looked over by fooddude later).

Hierarchy

Spoiler

Ancient

An Ancient Izkuthii is an Izkuthii who has utilized the Mask of Veist and had their soul changed to a greater extent. Akin to Dark Shaman’s, their soul now partly resides in a piece of the Spirit Realm (specifically Veist’s domain). In order for their bodies to cope and not become more spectral, the Ancient’s mana is constantly being used to sustain their body. This renders any possibility of using voidal magic null.

Pros:

  • This allows for their disguises to be more sturdy against physical assault.

  • Illusionary World is now 7x7x7.

  • Ancients are also capable of creating new Izkuthii and disconnecting current ones.

  • Capable of utilizing limited illusions on par with figments/glamors without having their zone established.

  • Can communicate with Veist through their innate connection with the Spirit.

Cons:

  • Ancients are expected to follow the Tome of Veist and not fulfilling this will result in having their soul rejected from Veist’s domain (PK).

  • Can not use or learn voidal magic.

  • Require feeding twice every two weeks as opposed to once.

  • Experiences a constant urge of wanting to be in their true form, causing them to suffer mentally during their time in their masked form.

Adult

Izkuthii who have lasted for 2 months. Adults are capable of controlling their ability with greater finesse, allowing them to use stasis and illusionary barrages. They are also capable of siphoning individual emotions from a character (OOC consent is still required for extended emotion draining). Focusing greatly, an Izkuthii is also able to solidify their spirit arms when in peaceful situations that are not focus breaking (AESTHETIC ONLY, they can NOT use this to wield 8 swords or any bullshit like that).

Fledgling

Newly created Izkuthii, does not have access to stasis or the illusionary barrage. Fledglings are unable to steal individual emotions and are only capable of taking them all in one fell swoop. Fledglings are guided by Ancients in learning the way that their abilities work and in learning about Veist and their duties to the Spirit.

Ability Stuff

Spoiler

Illusionary Barrage

The illusionary loop is a pre-made illusion that is sent at a target through a ball of energy (should this miss then the attack would be null). The Izkuthii must focus intensely to imagine whatever they wish to illusion, which when affecting a target, lasts for 3 emotes. This illusion is weaker than ones used in the Illusionary World and must have some levelof believably , but as with all of their illusionary abilities, does no physical harm. Takes 3 emotes to charge up.

Hibernation

In dire times, an Izkuthii is able to perform a small ritual which causes their need to drain emotions to come to a halt. However, they are unable to do anything during this time and are in a stasis which lasts for extended periods of time. (Essentially gives Izkuthii a reason to survive when IRL issues crop up and they’re unable to be online for weeks at a time).

Can't wait for these changes, gonna be nice too to have more of a direction than just wandering around doing our own things. People I've encountered seem to enjoy what izkuthii rp has offered so far.

Shamanic constructs with a greater/ancestral spirit inside it, isn't it?

Basic summary I can quickly put together for you is izkuthii start off as descendants who're cursed/blessed by another izkuthii and thus have their souls warped to become creatures under Veist. There are some ties to shamans but izkuthii aren't created by shamans.

Can find the full creation story here with the original lore:
