Vaynth 3005 Share Posted July 2, 2017 Application Team June Monthly Update Log New Player Data As per usual, Humans dominated the chart with the majority of accepted applicants to the server this month. Following close behind, Elves made up nearly ¼ of the server’s new player population. Dwarves dwindled a bit, though remained holding a decent portion of the chart. Orc applications plummeted from the significant amount we had last month, now being tied with the number of new Halflings. Kharajyr were the fourth most popular race among the six subraces. This month, the most frequently chosen Dwarvish subrace were the Mountain Dwarves. The Elves were distributed rather evenly between all subraces, the amount of new Wood Elves and Dark Elves being equally the most favoured. The majority of Human players chose to have no subrace, though there was a little mix of them all. Unlike last month, we did gain a few new Farfolk players, though their numbers weren’t much compared to the Heartlanders and Highlanders. There were only two Orcs in total, and one chose Uruk while the other didn’t select a subrace. Figure a1. Accepted applicant distribution by race (n=88). Figure a2. Accepted applicant distribution by subrace (n=88). In the spoiler below, you will find a list of the new players accepted to the server, be sure to reach out to these people and introduce yourself if you have time! Table 1. Almost half of those reviewed were accepted immediately, while a large chunk of applicants were placed on pending and reached out to before reaching a final verdict. In most cases, pending applications were accepted after a bit of tweaking. Figure b. Distribution of application results (n=143). Once again, Americans made up almost ¾ of the accepted new player timezones. The European time zone made up the majority of the rest, while unfortunately we didn’t get many players from the Oceania time zone. Figure c. Distribution of accepted player timezones (n=88). Member Additions and Resignations/Removals This has been an especially interesting month for the Application Team, with two long time members and leaders of the team stepping down from their long tenures in their positions. I am thrilled to say I have taken the position of Application Team Director, and have so many new ideas to bring to the team that I can't wait to share with you all. I see huge potential in the AT, and I hope to bring that out. I am excited to work with my team, the staff of other teams, and of course the community on bringing player retention to light and improving it the best we can. This will be my main priority, as well as encouraging more in-game new player assistance, and amending the inner-workings of how the team is run. In the spoilers below it shows our three new additions to the team, as well as our five departures within the month and my words to them. Additions Spoiler Chosen for his clear desire to assist new players, LordCommander was added earlier in the month. He has certainly proven himself since, surpassing quota in flying colors when he didn’t even have to make quota his first month. He has only been improving his working techniques since, and is now one of the main AT in charge of making the New Players Discord thrive as it used to. We have high hopes for him. Dev was an addition with the other two we brought on this month, highly recommended by management. He is such a pleasure to have on the team. I can tell he’s always putting his utmost effort into making sure the new players are assisted properly, and we can’t wait to see how he does throughout his time on the team. Harrison is a re-addition that we gladly accepted back onto the AT due to his vast experience working on the AT in the past as a manager. He has always shown to be an efficient and capable member of staff, and we look forward to having him around once again. Departures Spoiler I would like to personally thank Lego for his amazing contributions to this Application Team, and for always being supportive and helpful even when we didn’t have the same views. Before his departure, he showed me the ropes on how to maintain our important spreadsheets, and shared some of his long time ideas with me. I hope to put all of his advice to good use. Without Lego’s dedication, we wouldn’t have all of these fancy statistics and graphs to add to these update logs every month. While he is no longer our Director, he is welcome in our chat and always considered a part of the team. Much like our previous Director, Leslie has been a committed member of the Application Team since 2015. During that time she has done loads of managerial work that included training newcomers, working on various projects to address player retention, giving interviews, and assigning members to their managers every month. I wish her the best of luck on future endeavors. Rella101- Rella was truly a pleasure having as a member on the AT, and cared so much about helping new players and coming up with projects. She’s the sole creator of the New Player Discord, which she allowed Cordial to take the reins of upon resigning. She had to leave for personal reasons, though perhaps she will return one day.TrinTea- A good friend of mine, and also an awesome person to have around on the team. Trinity is always such a positive and friendly person, and was wonderful when it came to reaching out to new players. She became busy with various things happening in her real life, and inevitably decided to step down.Parion- This was his second run on the team. While still a “new” and thriving member who had been added just this past month, real life got in the way and he had to quit prematurely. He’s always been both consistent and thorough when reviewing applications, and even when not on a staff team he was constantly on the lookout for new players in-game. During his first tenure, he taught me just about everything I know now. Can’t put into words how much I appreciate him. Team Data Not including management, the team currently has 10 members. A few have been hiatus during various points of the month, rendering them unable to hit quota. The team quota remained at 5% even after the departures, though it should have been higher due to the new members not being required to hit quota. It gave them plenty of room to practice with reviewing applications anyways. In the near very future we will be taking on a few new members, as well as promoting one of our current AT to work alongside Coolio in the position of manager. Starting July 1st,2017, managers will be required to review white-list applications. This will keep them from getting rusty on our regulations when training new team members, and give them incentive to help out if they see a large pile up of applications or one that has been sitting around for awhile without being claimed. Their quota will be only half of what a normal team member’s is. Figure d. Percentage of applications completed by application team members. Total applications, n = 143. Quota noted by red dashed line (5%). As routinely, new members and managers were not required to hit quota. The members with the most contributions to applications this month were Imi and LordCommander. I thank them for their hard work, time, and devotion to helping wandering souls become whitelisted members of the LoTC community. Cordial(though he came very close) and Jlyoko did not meet quota due to being on hiatus. z3m0s became very busy recently, unable to put his full attention into reviewing applications. Everyone’s situations have been explained, and are excused for this month. The members not specifically mentioned are either a new member, a manager, someone who’s resigned, or have reasonably passed quota. Projects Coolio will be taking on the race guide project that Leslie had been working on, as well as continuing with his video project. The reason his ongoing project has been progressing slowly is because he was searching for a video editor to assist him with completing this project. He should be back on track soon enough. I’ve finished my project for last month, which was bringing the Tailor’s Guild back together. The only issue I’ve run into has been late mina payments to skinners due to a variety of obstacles presented to me. Nonetheless, it has been running rather smoothly and I hope this will continue in the long run. If you would like to join or read up on the details, click the hyperlink here. The New Players Discord activity has sadly died down quite a bit.. With the amazing help of LordCommander and Cordial, we will be working on making it an active hub for wandering souls and new players alike once again. Player Retention This is a topic the entire community is certainly interested in, and one I linger on quite frequently. Of course the server would be nothing without its players, and everyone is concerned for its well being. I do not yet have any data at hand to show the correlation between when a new player was first accepted and how often they’ve played, but I will soon be making an effort to put together my own variation of player retention reports. Just wanted to let everyone this will be in store as soon as I get the time to throw it together. Edit-- Behold!.. SquirtGun has compiled the list of the accepted applicants from the month of May, and put them together into her own player form of retention report. I've linked the thread below. Once again, I would just like to voice how appreciate I am that she went out of her way to do this. It's beyond helpful. Next month I will do my best to recreate this system so that we may compare retention between months.

He set them up in a way that they're automatically linked to the AT documents when people submit applications for their quota. I made small changes to customize them to look how I liked (such as the values showing), but otherwise they're practically just copy/pasted.
