The Watch of the Flame

Members of the Flame swear an oath of duty that prohibits political titles and land ownership. Its members renounce all past allegiances and birthrights keeping only their allegiance to the Clergy. Joining the watch provides absolution for past dishonorable acts and immunity from further punishment and judgement. Brothers of the flame are all equal but are given ranks to allow a better organization of the order. Watchmen cannot become Kings or Clan Fathers, they can in the other hand rise in the military to Grand Marshal, or become a Prophet of the Brathmordakin also rising to the ranks in the clergy.

The watch was created to allow devout dwedmar to embody their piety through the protection of the clergy and service to the faith, as well as to give a second chance to those who have wronged other dwed or those who have committed an act(s) of dishonor to find forgiveness in the eyes of the Brathmordakin. By joining the order all crimes or dishonorable act is washed away, but if one commits another dishonorable act after joining the order, said person would be sentenced to death. Breaking the vows of the order after taking them is also punishable by death.

The members of the order wear a white/silver armor to distinguish themselves from the other dwed, as well as to represent the new found purity of their soul.

Baldin Frostbeard looks up solemnly at the statue of Yemmekar in the Temple of the Brathmordakin in Kal'Omith.

“ I Baldin "Ironside" Frostbeard Grandaxe Prophet of the Brathmordakin and servant of Wyrvun, declare myself guilty of breaking a solemn oath. I pledged my loyalty to Clan Father Kerwyr  later self proclaimed king of the Frostbeards. I broke this oath and allowed his enemies to re-take Kal'Omith. It is an act I do not regret, but it is also an act that has tainted my honor. As a dwarf I cannot keep on living knowing that the Brathmordakin frown upon my honor. For this reason I decide to join the Watch of the Flame, so that through its service Yemmekar's fire can cleanse my tainted honor."

Baldin kneels in front of the statue and says the Oath of the Flame.

"A servant of the flame of Yemmekar is sworn to valor, so sworn to valor I shall,

His heart knows only virtue,  my heart will be virtuous,

His blade defends the Clergy, my blade will defend the Clergy,

His might upholds the faith, my might will uphold the faith,

His word speaks only truth, my words will speak truth,

His wrath undoes the evils of Khorvad, my wrath will undue the evils of Khorvad"

Baldin stands proud cleansed from his misdeeds, now a members of The Watch of the Flame sworn to serve the Brathmordakin and the clergy until he draws his last breath.
