let's talk nexus

so uh

Let's talk nexus, guys. I haven't participated in a warclaim for a very long time, and I was on the losing side for the Santegia v. Oren that I decided to participate in because why not

But one thing I've noticed is that there are a lot of things that really make me scratch my head, primarily diamond armor and enchants

Anyone else remember Anthos/Asulonian/Fringe warclaims? Remember when everyone primarily wore chain, iron, or leather? but how now it's diamond, iron, and occasionally leather for the archers? Remember when things were pretty balanced, and battles were somewhat dependent on who had the better strategy/tactics due to being more balanced rather than grinding off to the side continuously for hours so that when you went into the warclaim you could just demolish with mechanical items? the difference between warclaims now and warclaims back then is immense, and not in a good way imo

i recall Orcs Among the Grain, Siege of Malinor, and other warclaims where only 1-2 people (nobility, primarily) had diamond/carbarum armor, and everyone else was chain and iron and leather. battles could last for a very long time (2-3 hours) and I enjoyed myself during them, despite the moderate lag.

uh what else

potions. alchemists fire should be used primarily for rp, and not as a mechanical item to be used in warclaims, potions of stoneskin and other stuff are ridic

i liked when, if you sustained enough damage in a warclaim back in asulon/anthos you had to pull back, eat some food, heal yourself up and get your bearings before heading back out

my thoughts are all strewn about and not really organized but you guys can also talk about what you dont like about nexus and """""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""maybe""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""" a techie will see this and think "hm maybe some changes should be made"

honestly i just miss anthos/asulon warclaims if you couldnt tell already

what about you all

EDIT: the only enchants that i think are acceptable would be sharpness and protection, and that's literally it, and only on the first level. im not sure about bows. i was thinking that velocity be removed and only power I bows are the "good" bows, or that velocity stays and any enchant on bows are removed.

I think this is a long dead horse at this point. Nexus has been cancer for roleplay and has taken all of the fun from pvp.

First it's the bows which are overpowered

Then stoneskins

Now diamond.

Just remove it without delay. There is no reason to wait.

people have kept saying this over and over. I'm not entirely certain the tech team wants to change.

All Nexus decides in PVP is who will win a faster fight. In Vanilla Minecraft, fights especially larger one can go on for a good time allowing actual strategy within the battle since people are able to sustain so much damage, fall back regen, and then fight again. Crafting on the other hand is quite bland and simply boring. You take the time to gather items and press a button and wait minutes to days for the crafting to be done, rather than a simple vanilla crafting recipe. Most of the time when you are trying to craft something in your profession you might have to lean on another person's profession to even get that item, compared to someone being all around.

I also was banned due to a glitched nexus weapon that I didn't even know I had (if devs can't make a balance with a system they introduced then why continue if it has so much collateral damage) :/

Nexus determines the fight. I might be misunderstanding but you can't honestly be saying:

"Well, they were going to win ANYWAY, but having 50 diamond sets, loads of potions and god weapons just made it faster, it didn't determine anything."

i want it gone too but would fights really be that much longer w/o nexus? the average footman is using a weapon barely better than a vanilla one with twice the health of vanilla. battles were a lot longer in anthos and asulon but i thought that was mainly because the battlefields were so much bigger(they were in-world) and people kept coming back from death

I think its an inherently flawed system when we complain that RP is dead in cities while simultaneously perpetuating a system where the only way to win wars and prevent your city from being destroyed or taken from you is to spend hours on hours grinding instead of RPing.

I ******* hate nexus almost as much as I hate grinding. On that note there is nothing less engaging than pressing a button and waiting three hours. If the staff want to make things craftable then reward good rp with crafting. I remember pre nexus there were **** tons of amazing black smith rpers, phaedrus is an excellent example. Now we have tons of aengulic + tier smiths who's chars can't differentiate between an Anvil and an ASO.

>people kept coming back from death

this didnt happen very often, in the sense that around 10% or less of a side MIGHT return despite the rule just to OOCly watch, and then die or merely do nothing. if they did engage in combat again, they were typically banned iirc

>battlefields were so much bigger

yeah, much better than a congested, 100-125 x 100-125 battlefield in my opinion. and sure battles lasted longer because of that too

maybe not so much in asulon or anthos, because getting back was a *****, but in the fringe tons of people would return, with many returning multiple times.

yeah but the reason we moved into wc worlds in the first place was because the lag was becoming insane.

that's fair.

siege of malinor lag was ridiculous but im still suspicious of the admins because they didnt restart until after the battle and if they did so before the lag would NOT have been that bad and they REFUSED to restart the server even though we asked them to many times

of course most admins at that time were p. much biased, having played elves and holding leadership positions for years

alright this is a rant for another time but i agree with you on that, the lag was always pretty bad.

The lag at this siege was also p. damn YUGE as well

Stats are crazy, nor is this a MMORPG, so having logic it gives something is stupid as I'm not playing Runescape here. It'd be nice and simple if people didn't have items that disbalance the true art of PVP, making something here on the server less than it could be. Simple iron armor, bows, would make for a more scaled PVP match and overall people would fill more fulfilled in their actions, beside memes grinding away as if this is some PVP factions server is all I'm gonna say.

Yeah but it's not even comparable to that Fringe WC that froze for 10 minutes and then crashed the server and even people's clients. Or the siege of Barrowyck where people literally had 8 minutes ping before the two sides even confronted.
