The Shells, in a way, form one big whole even though they are physically disconnected on the material plane. Destroying a Shell can be comparable to losing an arm. The whole truly contains the soul, not each body, even though the Soul can only have one Prioritized Shell at one time.

This may not be fully understood by characters in rp, I say to those who are afraid that this contains too much science fiction for LOTC.

So when you first make this structure does your original body die, or is there some other way the soul gets into the 'machine' of sorts?

The Soul cannot distinguish between the Original and the Shell unless the Shell is severely mutated. Each of the Shells pull on the Soul all of the time, just a little bit, because the whole is naturally trying to reach an equilibrium and spread the soul out evenly amongst its physically separated parts. However, this can't happen because the Shell Pool isn't actually strong enough to tear the soul apart. Because of these two points, the Shell Pool is created.

But what prevents the soul stream from taking hold of the soul? I love the lore, it just needs some clarification on this aspect.

There is no direct manipulation upon the soul with any sorta magic or otherwise. The alchemist is just abusing an anomaly where the soul fails to distinguish between the original body and a cloned shell so from the perspective of the soul all available bodies are its body so the soul itself just moves to a new body of its own accord. The soul only has the ability to inhabit a single body at a time, but if one of the available bodies were to die, or the currently inhabited body were to die, the soul does not perceive it as death, rather it perceives it as injury. So the soul never admits death, because from its perspective death did not happen, then of its own accord it inhabits one of the already existing bodies because it perceives those as apart of its self. The soul will constantly resist the pull of the soul stream and instead be pulled to the clone bodies until all clone bodies are dead, because the soul does not think death happened and thus acts upon that.

The shell pool is just a theoretical thing to give explanation to the soul thinking that every clone is apart of its self and how it moves between different clones because of that. Its not a literal space, rather a theoretical space to explain a relationship that ignores any physical space.

Does this make sense?

Yes, I heavily suggest you also add an explanation of this onto the post. Just needs to be clarified so more lore wouldn't abuse an undefined means to do who knows what.

I'll see if I can get Vezzin to add a redline saying the alchemist does not directly manipulate the soul, just abused an anomaly.

I'll also see If I can get her to splice in a more clear cut thing.

What attracts the soul to the Shell rather than the soul stream?

I forgot to post after taking some time to read through it the other day. Once you get past all the convoluted pseudo-science, you'll see this is a pretty interesting method for revival. My only qualm would be to ensure it's obvious if you're making a 'klone' for someone else that you require their OOC consent as it does have a PK clause. Unless it did have this somewhere and I didn't see it, apologies if that's the case as there was a lot to read. Haha +1

Okay okay very well written. Personally I really like the mechanic of rolling for certain outcomes and the d100 table of mutations really appeals to my D&D side. This is also great for balancing and RP variety which I think is very important for dynamic RP.

Some comments I have:

1) any way it can be shorter? You're proud of your writing (and you should be!) but I started skimming halfway through as there is way too little vital information in way too many words.

2) the symbol costs seems a bit on the low side.

3) from the wiki page you provided on cerebospinal fluid:

"The modern rediscovery of CSF is now credited to Emanuel Swedenborg. In a manuscript written between 1741 and 1744, unpublished in his lifetime,"

How do you reckon the performing of brain surgery on a living subject sits with the techlock?

EDIT: almost forgot but try to find some common ground with the homunculi lore as you explore a very similar end product and field of study. Consistency and cohesion in the picture of lore are important.

It takes an application to be cloned, even if you aren't actually learning how to make a clone.

Stick a needle into into their spine and pray you don't make a quadriplegic.

      Stein's Final Moments
Alone, that was the feeling he felt, as he laid on the table in the surgical room in the Hohkmat clinic. Fear made itself  known as well, as he was recently cured from vampirism in that very room. The fear only grew as the restraints seemed to get tighter and the room spinning. Two others made there way in, separate, and at different times. They were once friends, family even if it came down to it. But his actions caused them to forget him as someone good. Hour's passed by as Stein, now called Almer, laid there on the surgical table, waiting for his fate to be decided. The door creaked open and his restraints came loose, allowing himself to sit up. His fate had been decided, the only thing he could do, was make it painless. The choices were simple, die a painful death, or be put to sleep, feeling nothing. The decision was simple, as he took the Nightsap juice given to him.

Before drinking, memories of his life flashed in his mind, memories of his childhood on his farm with his family, that he had forgotten so long ago. Now taking a drink of the juice, memories of his time in Reinmar, the friends he made that grew into a family outside of his original home on the farm. And as he slowly drifted away, his memories were of his new friends, now wishing him dead. The last image that made it's way to his mind was everyone he knew, gathered together. Almost like a final farewell, even though he did not deserve it. As his death drew near a tear rolled down his face, before his heart stopped, his limbs and body turning cold, and his image, slowly fading away, into the darkness, as he drew his very last breath.

      --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
      OOC NOTE:
Finally, after almost three months of playing as Stein/Njal/Almer, I have finally made the decision to pk him. This wasn't the ending I wanted for him, however this is the ending I am giving him. I am taking this time to thank everyone that was a part of his life, these past three months on the server have been a blast. Stein and myself have made a lot of friends that I hope to keep and play along side them with other characters I make. So for those reading this thank you and to anyone that knows, give a salute as "The Stone Fortress" has finally fallen.

I will now take the time to thank those that have impacted Stein's life greatly @FunkehMelon @melonth @ickyNuN @confusedjester @Rocky_Wolf @SmothBM  @Irishmanmichael  and of course many more that I am sadly too lazy to actually search up and apologize for it. However though not everyone that has impacted Stein's life will be on here, I have not forgotten you and will never forget you. So thank you all for the fun three months, and I will see you all in my next lives <3!
