  1. 1. What would you like to see happen to our Bird/Messenger system?

    • Remove it and replace it with nothing. Force people to RP messengers themselves and carry letters between players.

    • Remove it and replace it with a rule based system involving GM approved aviary structures.

Good points and reasonable, I don't disagree. What I disagree with however is the 'silent alarm'. Unless somethings said in rp like '/s "There's stuff going down guards, help!' there's literally zero warning and all of a sudden you're surrounded by a gaggle of guards from nowhere which is completely unrealistic. I don't think RP should be confined, and let's face it you're a perfect example of someone even if they made a rule you wouldn't follow it, to just ingame(no offense you quite literally said it multiple times, not trying to jab). Skype warnings or hails for guards IMHO is okay to an extent.

Adding a rule where you have to be logged in the city is a GREAT idea, however how can you enforce that @zaezae?

What I think they're trying to eliminate is the: "DUNAMIS IN PETRUS!!11!!" attitude where people silently rally in skype chats whenever a single person murders a guard. IE, if I were to waltz into Adelsburgh on my character and lure a guard into a dark alley to kill him there's a chance he will call for help in a skype chat. I've done it before back in Vailor and still use skype to plan RP when I shouldn't be doing it, I admit it.. We've all done it to some degree so there's no shame to saying it.

The first step to solving a problem is admitting that it's a problem, the metagamers need to admit that they have a problem and that that problem is skype rallying/skype RP before we can do anything about it. We can't fix an addiction if people can't admit that it's an addiction, they don't want to metagame but because it's easier to metasquad 6 someone, people will do it.

I don't blame the community for the sheer amount of metagaming that has been occurring but the staff for not dealing with it by introducing systems in which to communicate in RP without the use of OOC and metagaming. That is not to say the staff is to blame, both sides are.. It's just the staff has had the power to do something about it and we haven't. After all, what can I do to stop other people from metagaming? I don't have a ban hammer and I can't BR them without being ridiculed or called a snitch so who's at fault for that? Me or the staff/community?

I don't think all too many people would sleep through a raid on their village/city/home.

That's why I had also said "out of town, or working on something elsewhere"

And I dunno man, I slept through a neighbor getting robbed. Some people are heavy sleepers.

Right, well I don't think it's healthy to demand that since I'm not online other people get to declare where my character is.

Also a robbery isn't the same as a horde banging at city gates, screaming their intent, shooting arrows into a city and killing screaming people. So to say my character can't be where I left them to rest. Like... What do you think the roleplay will be like for people's characters?

"Where were you Orc'Uruk? Why didn't you come help us when we were being attacked just 20 feet from your home? Weren't you right there?"

"Well Sir Officer'Orcington, I suppose I'm just a heavy sleeper" *shrug "I suppose I'm just unreliable and unfit to be a soldier and fit to help serve the War Nation..."

Like.... Piss off. Don't Dictate where my character is. Don't tell me that I can't OOCly be alerted to things that should affect my character and the things they would do.

No one is declaring or dictating where your character is, chill. It'd be just like it is irl when you can't get ahold of someone. You guess based on the time of day and just assume until you hear from them again.

If someone asked you in rp "hey where were you half hour ago? you missed a raid" then you could come up with your own decision of what actually was going on at the time just like you would if you had been out of the house and thus unable to get online.

You.

For putting others opinion of yourself above your mineman rights.

Go report someone for metagaming over skype and watch how the GM team responds. Watch them decline your ban report while the entire community makes fun of you for reporting them and then we'll see who's laughing.

If another player broke the rules and directly impacted my enjoyment of the server for the benefit of their own, I would take no issue in player reporting them even if I was ridiculed by the community. It is your own responsibility to stick up for yourself in game, even if you are afraid of any potential backlash. Call a GM and if they aren't willing to help then you out on a legitimate issue then escalate it.

Ok, I'll escalate the issue when nothing happens and watch as I get banned for doing such just so I can prove you wrong.

Is something along this line still allowed? Notifying an order or something going on, like the pillar example, through a set of owls that were RPly given by a druid and have an RP belfry in the keep

Tbh, that isn't an issue in my opinion so long as the person went through the proper RP to do that. IE, count how many members are in the order and emote sending an owl/bird to each one before sending the message on discord/skype. That way if a city is being attacked a guard has to RP sending birds so the raiders have a chance to stop him.

Which I did. In my personal opinion, keep the system as if with a few added rules. Make it bannable to not properly RP a bird. They can still be sent and all that, just actually have to RP it. With all these plugins and ****, they will be broken 100% of the time. We just saw our own coder saying they don't want to do it. And if we remove it outright? Messengers would pretty much never be used and we'd practically just be expanding the problem than fixing it.

If you're worried about being banned for reporting another players rulebreaking then you should record/screenshot all your interactions with the GM team for evidence to protect yourself in the future. If you are particularly discriminated against by the GM team then use the anonymous staff reports. Systems are in place to prevent a corrupt GM team, you just have to utilise them if the issue arises.

GRR GRR NO OTHER OPTION FOR NUMBER 1

I should be allowed to send letters through skype or discord or w/e when someone is offline or it is otherwise appropriate to do so.

GRR GRR OPTION 3 NEEDS AN OTHER OPTION

Skype RP should be allowed for issues that pop up like OOC availability issues (Can't use LOTC from my phone, but I can use discord) and RPing things that have an OOC issue that prevents me from RPing it on the server (In progress marts or lore, doing RP involving its creation/development then canonizing what happened once the lore has been passed.)

Banning them? Let's not ban people for that, a warning for first offences and possible villainy blacklists for further offences should be used. Bans are last resorts and should never be used unless needed, we can't enforce rules through fear.
