How much to buy the server?

Tythus realizes that if he sells the server it will collapse. While it would almost certainly benefit him to sell it, he cares a little too much about the server to sell it.

You'd be better off investing the money you'd spend buying LoTC trying to build your own roleplaying server.

Nobody can measure it, its too high. If you start selling lotc merch you could count sales and calculate it from there *wink wink* *I would buy so much merch*

if you are being serious and aren't willing to pay 15k+ (in pounds) then i doubt it would even be considered...

Dont mine me just dropping in on this here meme scene.

Anyway don't be ridiculous. Tythus as "owner" is the most democratic, player-run server you will get.

Tythus is extremely hands-off. He lets admins  promote who they want to promote, lets staff make decisions at will and I don't think he has ever overridden or blocked an admin council. He rarely weighs in on server matters and I don't think he even exercises his """"power"""" as owner.

Tythus takes care of the box, the bills and the hosts. Everything else is completely left up to the playerbase.

Tythus understands that once upon a time the admins, in full, entrusted him with physical control of the server not to have, but to look after on behalf of all of us. As such, it isnt really his to sell. And he's kept that task up amazingly well and amazingly honorably. You should be thankful someone takes care of all these gritty messy server matters practically for free while players have full creative control with amazing uptime and tech support.

I don't trust anyone, no matter how many promises they make or buzzwords about "democracy" and "voice of the players", they throw out, to be a fairer owner than Tythus

According to this graph 20k is a generous position at which to bargain, from the high ground way of course.
