ET: September Update

Some of you may have noticed, or may not have noticed, that the ET is going through some changes. That of leadership, builders, and actors alike while we push and strive to produce knowledgeable and well-based actors with a creative mindset and open to the general public. As we hope to be more connected with the general public as well as open on topics. With that in mind the only way we can be more interactive is if you all post your opinions and your ideas within the ET-Opinions. As I will be open to answering your questions and ideas.

To any of you who were interested or wanted to know what changes we have made within the group:

Those who have joined us, we would like to congratulate:

We would also like to congratulate those who have been promoted:

The ET-Management has agreed that the et should be more interactive with the community as well as the other groups that it coincides with, being the LT and MT. Ensuring that events are regulated well and given to all active regions favorable to the demands of the community. It is our wish that we make sure in these coming months to improve as a team, and to ensure that every person is kept up to date with impactful events. As of now we are working hard and making changes, as well as still providing for top-notch rp. We are always open to feedback, and questions and we hope you all have been enjoying yourself. Have a good day, and happy rping!

So does the ET still literally drive nation activity for certain areas because that's a really unhealthy thing to encourage. It was a problem I saw when I was last on the team and I hope this isn't a repeat of it. The ET should be a supplement to people's roleplay and engage in characters in meaningful ways that lead to character development. Not provide nations with activity that they fail to do so themselves. I'd prefer people who know what they're doing, doing events for whatever playerbase they wish instead of the ET being conscripted and messing up events they try to help in.

Also make sure the ET are trained, since I've been unbanned I've seen an absolute mess of ET's flying around unvanished and providing some really subpar events.

I'm happy to see that there's people who are still immensely passionate about providing events to people on the server, but I also have some constructive criticism to provide due to my own experience in regards to the Event Team. It is your job to shape the story of the server, not to do things purely for the enjoyment of players, but to also bring them new zones and areas to explore. Shaping the world should be your #1 priority, you have more interactive power in-game than much of the Lore Team and unlike them you are not withheld by as many boundaries with what you create. Lord of the Craft is a very old server now, it is on the verge of being six-years-old, many harbor ill will and think that the server is failing its players, the sad part is that they're right.

The Event Team has been broken for over two years now, it was never a perfect system and its still archaic when compared to how much other staff on other servers have improved. I see the same ideas recycled over and over again, I see less and less of the creativity and impetus that drove players in the past. There is no perfect way to fix this. You're going to have to be stern with your members, it's good to have a positive relationship with your workers, but they are not your friends. If you allow people to walk all over you because of friendship, you are failing at your job. You are their boss, you can be friendly and polite, but you being the boss is what comes first and foremost. When in a position of power, always assume someone beneath you will do their best to get away with things, if you don't nip the problem in the bud you'll suffer the consequences. Your team won't be able to function without a strong hand to guide them, perhaps you can be that hand this time that we've been missing.

In your hands now are the keys that others pine for. You're the one who the players will look to for entertainment. While not every event can be enjoyable, the scope of the story is far more important than any singular entity or antagonist. You make or break the server, so do your members, so do right by the players and do right by your team. Do not settle for less than perfect, encourage competition and see if you can flourish where others have failed in the muck and rot of LoTC's political atmosphere. Good luck!
