Rose Meets a God

She was so f*** nervous.

She wasn't told anything about the connection, mearly 'Wait in the Temple of Light'. And that's what she did for almost half the day, waiting for something to happen.

Suddenly, Kary approached her, and she new what was going to happen. She rose, and followed him up two flights of stairs, to a simple pool resting on the highest level of Sutica, the clocktower point.

Next, entered Gray, clad all in armor. Then, the Princess, then, Duncan. All of them got into a circle, and she herself stood nervously at the side of it, unsure if this would be either a new beginning or the end of herself.

"Do you, Rose, promise to uphold the Sutica way of life, to follow the Five Tenants, and do you understand if you break these oaths, your soul will be ripped in half, and you will suffer for your transgressions?" The Princess spoke, looking directly at her.

"I do." She spoke, nodding to Lily.

"Then step into the pool, and you will be judged by Tal'. If He deems you worthy, you will become one of us, Cleric, and War Cleric."

She looked at the pool, hitching up her robes and stepping inside the water. Since the building had no windows, the pool was icy cold, and she gasped and shivered from the water. While her body was getting used to the cold, Lily's eyes began to glow a pure silver light, and wisps of silver began to formulate in her hands for five minutes. After those five minutes where up, Lily suddenly lobbed the glowing silver light at Rose, and hit her dead center of the chest.

Rose couldn't even react, she felt herself falling into the pool, but not hitting the surface. Finding herself unable to move even an inch, she looked around, her eyes darting in panic, the memories of abuse circling in her brain. However, nobody seemed to move an inch, or even react. Left floating helpless, she wondered, maybe she wasn't worthy enough?

As if to answer her thought, her body began to grow uncomfortably hot. However no sweat formed on her, and she felt something peaceful latch onto her soul, a foreign entity. A greater power than even the wisest clerics could explain. At first, she tried to fight against it, her soul screamed because she didn't want it to figure out the abuse, the pain, the screams she uttered. The long hollowed nights she spent out alone, in the front porch of her Great-Great-Grandfathers house, shivering from the icy cold.

But however, she reluctantly agreed to allow the foreign power inside. She felt it shift through her memories, shift through her very soul. The abuse, the pain, the longing for a better future, a better life. Her eyes flickered to Kary, and an instant, both the entity and herself understood, the need to protect him, the Father.

Suddenly, she felt the scars, and burn marks from her ex-husbands abuse fade from her back. The scars simply faded into the pure white skin she held on her form. Next, it wrapped around her mind, and for an instant, the fear and nervousness faded, replaced by a sense of calm and peacefulness, that lead to a quiet lull in sleep. And finally, as her eyesight began to fade, it worked on her soul. It healed the years of abuse, and left her feeling stronger, more willing to overcome the years that she spent alone. She faintly saw another light, a silver light, much dimmer than the one above her, travel with the bright light to the heavens, before she passed out, and she knew no more.

She opened her eyes an hour later, however, it wasn't in panic in or the cold sweats, it was a peaceful dream. She sat up, finding herself swaddled in yellow covers, inside a foreign place. She patted herself, finding everything was still on her. She was puzzled, she remembered blacking out, but not getting here?  As soon she was about to rise and figure that out, Kary, Princess Lily, Duncan, and Gray all entered the room. For once, Kary had a smile on his normally grumpy old man face.

"Welcome to the Paragons, Rose."

She looked at him, stunned, which caused those within the room a little bit of a chuckle. Kary gestured her to follow, as they took her for the tour of the place. She still was a little bit dazed as she was heralded around, before finally calling it a night after the tour was over.

And for the first night, in many years, she slept without nightmares.
