A faded banner

A withered old southeron paced the streets of the major cities. An air of magic and uncertainty surrounded him. He flipped through the bag at his side, retrieving scraps of old cloth. "Who stands now ta' remember this?" He had asked himself, scratching at his chin as his eyes wandered the streets. "A name that was tarnished n' then left ta' die."

The man sighed, pinning the cloth to a noticeboard with a quick brush of the hand. It glimmered in the moonlight, holding the look of an enchantment. If the banner were to be removed, another would warp in from the void to take its place. "Gods guide me." The Archon murmured, gazing then to the stars. "I 'ope yar' right 'bout this mon."

Upon the boards of each city, was a faded and battered banner, and inscribed below each, small text.

To those that remember; stay vigilant.

At one board a near feral looking mali'ker approaches the cloth and, deciding she wants the shiny, tears it down. As she admires the banner another warps into place causing her to recoil in shock.

Shock turns quickly to curiosity though as she goes to rip this one down as well, and the one that appears after that, and after that. Her fascinating game only ending when a guard chases her away, banners fluttering off the bundle in her arms as she runs.

An elf faded from time like the banner scrawled upon the parchment contemplatively observed the southeron place these notes to those who were old enough to remember. Eventually as he departed back to the recesses of wherever he came from, the mali uttered

"The cycles continues, the observer is right."

A passing High Elf spares the sigil a glance before strolling on, reminiscent of an era passed.
