The Rurikguard

Norlandic Coat of Arms

 

The Rurikguard was founded by Javier Ruric in 1622, meant to replace the prior military organization, which was known as the Ashguard. Originally tasked with the purpose of defeating House Romstun, who Norland was at war with during Javier’s reign, the Rurikguard found purpose being the overall military.

The Military was not the largest military force in Norlands history, but was filled with the most elite.

The large fraction of Norlands army tended to be simple farmers and blacksmiths, just proving to be a simple militia force

 

The Rurikguard’s goal is to protect Norland’s people, property, and well being to ensure of Norlands future . The Rurikguard is led by the Marshal, a military commander selected by proving himself time and time again on the battlefield. The Rurikguard are sworn to the House Ruric, the current royal family of the Kingdom of Norland.

-Command Branch-

Marshal

Leads all Regiments of the Rurikguard, in times of war

Tasked with upholding the law of Norland, as well as keeping the guards unified and disciplined.

 

Huskarl

The Huskarl they will be given their own small regiment consisting of no more than 6-8 soldiers. Huskarl’s can only lead trainings under the supervision of the marshal or the King himself, they will continue to do so until said otherwise by the current King of Norland

Huskarl’s are tasked with keeping their man-at-arms, footmen, and initiates in line on the training site, and on the field.

 

Ashknight

A Member of the Guard may be given the title Ashknight, achieving this title is one of the most highest honors within the kingdom, having shown strength, and quick thinking during the time of Battle, The Knight would be tasked with protecting the Royal family at all costs.

Man-At-Arms

Having proved himself time and time again, a Man at Arms has survived many battles and lived to tell the tale.

 

Footmen

A trained recruit, they are typically given more respect then the initiate, and will be tasked with the same missions as an initiate, though are higher regarded.

 

Initiate

A Fresh recruit to the guardsmen, The Initiate is an inexperienced fighter whom has yet to prove him/herself loyal to the Crown of Norland.
