William Rubens leading his Levy, ca 1660

William Rubens rode through the gates of Cyrilsburg and following behind him were his bannermen; a few mounted soldiers, crossbowmen and a plentiful amount of pikemen.
Not only were the bannermen of House Rubens present but so too were men from the Rams Brigade, the military force of White Peak.
A few servants to House Rubens also accompanied William, however they were armed with nothing but stacks of fliers.

The fliers would read;

ISSUED BY THE HOUSE OF RUBENS
15th of the Grand Harvest 1660

An announcement to the citizens of Curon.

I am sure that it is by now a well known fact that Leila and I have left Curon, or as the usurper would have you believe ‘committed treason.’ I have come to you with the intention to address such malicious accusations and to direct your attention to where it should be focused - the administration of Curon and the current state of Cyrilsburg.
It should also be noted that House Rubens have never sworn fealty to the Crown of Curon and have always been a vassal under the Crown of Marna and County of Götha.

‘The Rubens have abandoned Curon.’

This I find to be the most heinous of accusations. Our departure from Curon is nothing but the result of injustice amongst the administration and the incompetence that Cyrilsburg stinks of.
Prior to my sisters retirement from her position of mayor, multiple attempts on her life had been made. Despite requests for aid the Curon military refused to provide assistance in preventing these attacks, resulting in further incidents such as the Hartcold massacre.
Infact the administration of Curon has now been found responsible for orchestrating these assassinations. Veres Draskovits, who is the secretary of Curon attempted an assassination on my sister not even a month after she publicly denounced the leadership of Curon. It is evident that Veres is complicit in the attempt as both he and the assailant involved fled together to Cyrilsburg, aiding one another in their escape.

And yet now we also see the seed of greed that has sprouted and grown for far too long under the neglectful eye of Linette. Whom always rampant corruption, the ascension of Veres Draskovits, an incompetent and incapable leader that is only ruled by his own greed and paranoia.

We did not abandon Curon, Curon abandoned us.

‘Under the reign of Linette, Curon has experienced an economic boom and increase in military prowess.’

In what sense of these words is this true? Curons economic predicament remains the same and their military is dwarfed by even vassals of neighbouring nations and the notorious Reivers banditing group, who harass Cyrilsburg with ease and are only driven away when Curon cries to members of the Northern Atlas Alliance to come save them. It is evident that Curons military situation has not improved by how little men they provide to fight against Norland.

And along with a  lack of men willing, and capable of fighting, it has  lead to the death of many more than just noblemen and the higher echelons of Curon, but the common citizenry. Curon has behaved as nothing more than a financial and martial burden to Renatus since the very start of this war, and is far too weak to defend it self independently, as is proven by the many incursions by hostile forces.

Truthfully, the only thing that has seen an upturn in Curon for the past few years and months has been Linettes ego.

Through deep deliberation and many weeks of debate, suffering and death, we reconsidered our position in Curon after the vile treatment we had received from the interior, and exterior forces that lurked within its walls. We wished for a stable and secure future for all the denizens of Curon, but the Princess, Arch-Chancellor, Deputy Mayor and Marshal all stood in the way of progress. And in an effort to protect our family from the repercussions brought on by the incompetence of these people, we chose to leave, rather than die a worthless death.

Our prospects, our future and our lives now reside under the watchful eye of Renatus and its vassals, to create something better from the lessons learned of Curon.

Ave Rubens, Ave Renatus

Count Eimar var Burgundar, Count of Götha, Baron of Geatea, Royal Knight and Protector of the Southlands

Siegfried laughed at the dispicable, shamefull state Curon has plumited in. He tapped his chin with his right hand as he read over the page. He turned to his squire who was helping around and spoke in a condescending tone.

"Wyn, zhis is vhat I told zyoo about. Zhis is vhat vill happen wizzout proper discipline und order. Ze Rubens made ze right decision leavink zhat self-appointed tyrant.. Zhis is vhy zyoo leave ze rulink zu ze men vho know how zu properly deal wiz it und nicht in ze hands of ein delusional hellion!"

The man let out a 'humpf' before standing up from his chair.

A Dominion officer chuckled upon receiving one of the missives. "Hm, curious. But you have to factor in that the latest Elven day, Curon brought the numbers to the war, with a solid three troops."

Emelie Rubens rode alongside her husband, dressed in a gown of black and gold. She tightened her hands about the bridle she grasped, wincing as she lifted her eyes to the rooftops. There were monsters nesting, breathing still with their arrows sharpened. She bit her lip as she suppressed her quiet melancholy, allowing her gaze to glaze over the host of soldiers that flanked her mount. "My husband is right." She spoke, recognizing the familiar faces peering from behind curtains in their homes. The streets were always scarce in Cyrilsburg. She remembered times when she was young... an age when the streets were lively. "Curon will forever be my ancestral home, and yet it has fallen. Linette," she paused, casting her eyes to the palace standing forlorn on the mountain, "we need to fix this. For the sake of your husband, my brother, for the sake of your children... don't let our home be destroyed. The government needs to be culled of the weasels and the snakes. The guard force needs to be filled with competent soldiers. The streets need to be washed of the undead and the black-hearted. GOD Save Curon."

The pale-faced countess paused, drawing her shoulders back and speaking then to the men that surrounded her. "Ave Rubens," she called, "Ave Renatus."

Wyn would nod in agreement of what Herr Siegfried told him.  "Yes Herr Siegfried those are no men indeed. Curon will Always be the shithole Of Atlas there is possibly more crime there then on the roads." He would chuckle. "Cant wait to meet the Rubens mein Herr."

(( don't cha love it when people drag ooc into RP. ))

Linette passed the leaflet aside, "Leila Rubens was the most incompetent leader Curon has ever seen. She consistently came to me crying because she did not know what to do as Mayor, and because her brother here was harsh to her. She has done nothing but cause issues for Curon, including plotting against the Nation once she was removed.

I am merely disappointed that she wishes to cry to her brother each time she does not get her way."

Just now, Semihilyus said:

So you judge a man with tales you heard ? How mature... i invite you to Cyrilsburg to speak with you personally, miss.To clarify our position and aims to you.

Mother Judith shakes her head, "Well goodness! It is not gossip, but the truths spoken by good Prior Constantine himself. You dare accuse him of lying?"

The man would let out a sigh and roll his eyes before saying "That rank of yours means nothing, it's pitiful because these citizens used to be under you guys. What did you think of them when they were alongside you? As far as I'm concerned, you held them back from marvelous things with cyrilsburgs tyrant ways. I Mean literally you along with the rest of your quote on quote military disgust me. If you so much as wish to illuminate any of the white peak people, including me. I will hang your head at the ass of a horse so you can smell the suit from your death that we can smell when the winds blow from cyrilsburg to white peak, to Gotha! My lord eimar is incapable of dying to the likes of you, he has taken down orcs with balls bigger than you. You are no match for the rams legion and certainly no match for lady Aldyth. She will take her beastly weapons and kill you!
