Forum Moderator Update Log - June 2018

Team Roster

This month we say goodbye to Mitto, and welcome on a few new members to the team. Please welcome @Caranthir and @Vaynth (returning)! We say goodbye to FalconByte, Imibee, and Quavinir. The last two were brought on this month. The third Manager slot has also been filled, as I promised to the team last month. The lucky individual who was granted the role is none other than @Vaynth; who is being welcomed back to the Management from her last run as FM. I expect that she will do a fantastic job, as she possesses a few very outstanding traits. This all being said, here’s how the team looks this month:

Changes

There’s been a change in how the hierarchy of punishments go, though this purely depends on the severity of the situation and at the judgement of the moderator dealing with your case. For example:

• If you have no past offenses of any kind (points, warnings) then you’ll be warned via Discord, and it will be documented in the FM Chat. If behavior continues, then it will result in a verbal warning, then onto a warning point.

Besides this minor change, it’s been a fairly quiet month. Props to Vaynth for coming up with the idea.

 

Conclusion

I plan on keeping the team at around 14-15 FM’s at all times, to make sure that there are eyes on the forums in difficult timezones. With this, I’d like to encourage you to apply if you’re in an uncommon timezone such as Oceania (GMT+10-12). Even though the log this month isn’t much, I’m all open to suggestions or critiques on how the team is being ran - so be sure to leave any ideas that you have in a reply or through PM’s with myself or one of the above managers!

How can you warn someone on discord if they don't use it wouldn't it make sense to just message them on the forums like the FM team has always done.

To add onto this, what if the person only adds people they are friends with? Can't force someone to accept your friend request, even if you are the Forum Team Director. Just stick to PMs on the forums. ???

Pink always ? But good log Chorale, I must agree with Tox. Pming folk on the forums is a more useful approach than discord as I have found some new folk don’t use it and some veterans might not have it too.

Clarification. @Tox @Sky @TorkoalTom pinging you guys because it's a response what you mentioned. u.u Chorale meant to say that we will give verbal warnings rather than a profile one if someone breaks a minor rule but is usually rule abiding on the forums. This is typically over Forum PMs, though some might prefer to message a player over Discord if they have one that they actively use. It's definitely not our only form of communication. Basically the idea is that we reach out to people to let them know they broke a rule so they hopefully don't do it again in the future. All verbal warnings are documented in the staff discord for our reference.
