Elvira Naromis was many things bundled into one - but all flowed perfectly in hand with each other

Many know her as an Aengulic Magic User, an Ascended and a former Clerical leader to be precise. A devoted follower of Aeriel and Tahariae with necessary goals and mindsets. Her views that of good but also of understanding. She did hold a particular dislike to the darkness but she did understand them. For within the darkest heart, there is always a reason for why a person fell to such choice.

Of course, to those who were against the Aengudaemons, she was deemed a heretic and a fool. A person who has given up her own soul for power, though her intentions were the direct opposite. Scorned and harmed for many times by these people, one would expect her to fight back and be furious. Yet, Elvira did not oppose or show hatred towards them, she merely accepted such as their beliefs and carried on her way. For hatred only breeds more hatred and covers the eyes from seeing the potential of others.

To others, she was a leader of honour. There was no honour in killing every single foe she met, nor did she ever desire to underestimate them. She knew there was no shame in running, if it means living to see another day. In each comrade, she saw potential in even the most feeble and helped them achieve it. In each foe, she saw a worthy opponent and took arms against them with hidden respect. For a leader must not only hold honour to all they meet and face, but also patience and be the guide of those who follow them and those that need help when needed.

Yet, deep down, Elvira has always been a researcher and an Alchemist at heart. Ever since Athera, she had trained and honed her abilities to theorise and discover solutions when necessary. Whenever it be creating new potions, theorising why something was occurring, or merely lending assistance to another. Her former Alchemy teacher, Daniel Nodal, always told her:

“An Alchemist is not simply just a brewer of potions that already exist, but someone who discovers new solutions and regents, and create new remedies. Go beyond what many expect your role to take and do good for the world while you still live.”

His words sticked firmly to heart and have since become a part of her morale and codes. Using her skills as an Aengudaemonic follower, a leader, and a researcher, the woman sought to find explanations and new ways to aid many. Perhaps make breakthroughs and stop world destroying events from occurring.

Which was why Elvira was now sat at her desk in her new workshop, reading over multiple textbooks and pamphlets regarding the mysterious purple trees. The Sage of Ruin did not deny it - she was utmost curious about these trees just like any other person. Many would be regarding this unique phenomenon on waters and trees that could heal away the most fatal of wounds faster than any Aengulic healer, even as far as to remove the darkest of curses. She knew that many had already bathed in the waters, she could easily tell by the near fully purple colour of their eyes. A truly strange sight if she must say. If she wanted to, she could easily state these trees to be the sacred ‘All-cure’ or the ‘Fountain of Healing’. Yet she didn’t as she knew one thing.

Healing never comes without a price.

To Alchemists, brewing a powerful healing potion would mean having to venture out and seek out the necessary regents, many of which being deadly to gather. Even if such regents were gathered, brewing the potion would take a precious amount of time and consideration, and even one false move could completely ruin the potion. By then, they would have to start all over, more time wasted. She had been an alchemist for nearly over a hundred years now, and she knew of how much time and effort being an Alchemist would take.

To Aengulic Healers, the ability to heal away the wounds depended on the magic. Ascended take the very wounds onto their own body and suffer the pain themselves, making themselves vulnerable to attackers as the wound heals slowly.Clerics face full fatigue and sometimes even place themselves in comas should they decide to go over their limits, Elvira had done such before and it was certainly a price to pay. She recalled the times when her opponents took advantage of her after she took broken limbs from an innocent, and had since taught all students to be utmost careful.

To Mundane healers, they had to depend on their skills and their quick thinking. The stress bearing down on their shoulders as many would have to work in conditions that would make things worse - whenever it be a crowded room or in the middle of the battlefield. One mistake would cost them permanent damage to their patient… or their patient’s life. The price of potentially losing your patient to mistakes that could be easily avoided. Elvira had faced such price before, having been unable to save another person... remembering the life fading from their eyes still shook the woman, but made her all the more determined to do better.

And now there were trees and waters that could heal the mortal body of the worse wounds, curses, and scars. To Elvira, something was clearly off with how these trees simply formed and are offering their abilities without any price to those who have successfully bathed within the waters, minus the fact of purple eyes. While the darkness and those who were deemed wrong were killed by the waters, there was certainly more to the price than this. The eyes, in fact, were the big giveaway there was a price focused on those afflicted. Many have realised it too and have since been trying to ensure no others bathed in the water, which was good though it did not stop everyone. Elvira held a deep feeling it was one that all who bathed in the pool will face, and it was not going to be good. For the moment the person bathed in the pool, equivalent exchange happened: the giving of something valuable in order to receive something of the exact same value. In this case, the people afflicted gave these trees the chance to bestow the price on them in exchange of healing them from their wounds. That Elvira knew, though she did not know what exactly the price was for bathing in these trees. Yet she held a feeling that in the near future, such price will be fully revealed. However, she was determined to figure it out before such could occur.

Thus the woman made it her resolve - figure out more about these trees and the healing energy. She was an Ascended, though it was not just the darkness she fought against, it was forces beyond mortal that would seek to cause harm to the descendants that she fought against. Thankfully with the information she had, the sage held a deep feeling as to what exactly these trees are, the energy is, and how it could tie in with another large issue going on. Though it would take up all of her skills to come up with some theories, as well as relying on others to get such information for her to work with.

Taking her quill in hand, Elvira took her piece of parchment and she began to write, detailing down everything she knew of the trees so far, of the Vaeyl Order, of spirits, of any Aengudaemons she could speculate was involved, and so forth. She understood there would be those who would scorn her, believing her theories and her ideas to be too extreme and like a fairy tale. She would not blame them, especially those who seek to deny what the world is and play ignorance.

Yet in a world where Aengudaemons had clashed, where magic is flaring in the hands of many, and many strange phenomenons have occurred before within the many realms before,

It'd be quite hard to state something such as this as a mere fairy tale.

((So I got bored and decided to write out a roleplay post for Elvira, where she'll be writing a book that'll detail down information on Smaw's purple tree event and including IC theories, definitions, and ideas that were gained in character - especially one big theory that I came up with that connects this event with the Vaeyl Order eventline. Your characters are free to send any ideas or information to Elvira, as it would help her out. Plus, this is a nice project of mine I'm looking forward to doing - and I've got all of the major posts on this eventline pinned and ready to use))
