Archbishop 1784 Share Posted September 4, 2018 Night was drawing close as the glow of the moon began to pass through the gaps in the canopy of the Dominion’s center city. Marcus entered through the open gates with nothing more than a cross clutched in his hands. The cities square was full of life and populace, as good as place as any to preach to those fallen from the light and into the darkness of the defiler. However this proved to be his undoing. Marcus entered the square and began citing a passage from the Canon to the disbelievers, all in hope of bringing the lost back onto the right path.“Lo and attend, for I am the Lord God, and I am in the foremost part of heaven. Though the spring flower withereth and the fruit of the tree falleth to the ground, My Word lasts into the eve of the world, and the fruit of virtue cannot rot.”The citizenry and guard began to form in the square, jeering and threatening the priest for his preaching. A particular guard, who appeared to have the most authority present, urged for peace from those who began to grow more aggressive by the minute as he merely spoke the canon. “I am the Lord God without peer, and I poured the brine into the sea and the sweet water into the rivers, and I created the fire of the desert and the soft breeze that cools it. And as I have created for thee the struggles of earth, so do I create the struggles of the spirit. And as I have created the struggles of the earth and spirit, so too do I bring forth their remedies.”“That is illegal here!” shouted one guard.“The aspects have blessed this land not god.” said another“I promise to cut you in half!” proclaimed another guard, strangely winking after each threat and comment.“In half?” replied Marcus, perplexed to this guards aggressive attitude towards a man merely speaking, for those who did not want to listen could merely ignore or leave? “I will not silence the word of GOD due unto your petty threats, if I halted my preaching because of threats by heretics and pagans, what kind of priest would I be? I do not cower from the lingering darkness.” Proclaimed Marcus as a nearby man charged forward, blade in hand. Marcus lowered himself to sit upon the stones of the square, quietly uttering a prayer. His prayer interrupted by aggressive threats and demands by many present. He felt a blade held tightly against his neck, with his eyes shut tight and his hands clutched around an aurum cross, he continued in his prayer having already been encircled and surrounded. Suddenly, before his prayer could be complete, the guards blade slashed into his exposed neck. His limp form would slump to the ground, an aurum cross falling from his grasp. And so Walter Moore, ex-Luccienist and Vice-Chancellor of the Church of Canon had perished, for preaching the word of GOD, a martyr. WuHanXianShi14 0 Share Posted September 4, 2018 Quote “The aspects have blessed this land not god.” "Ah good, I've taught them well." Mused a priest, who also wondered what a Canonist Clergyman was expecting, walking openly into territory that his own order had declared war and evil intent on. "I think people seem not to understand that they can be treated as a guest in our lands, or they can be part of an organization out to destroy us, but they can't be both. I think this human knew this but wanted to die a pointless death to become a martyr and stir up some screamers. Ah well, in but a few years no one will remember his name and we'll still be here in one form or another."
Chimp 528 Share Posted September 4, 2018 "To murder an unarmed man in cloth, and then they wonder why everyone wants them purged.. We don't kill every elf that passes through our land but maybe we should, infact we definitely should after this." Would say a man sitting in the crowd. Ajax 335 Share Posted September 4, 2018 Ser Magnus dons his holy garb once more, remembering the life which Marcus lived "Brave sons of Horen, we remember today the death of a brave man, a holy man, and a just man. Marcus WILL be remembered, O most holy friends, and we shall show what you do to peaceful men of the cloth"
Chase 3793 Share Posted September 4, 2018 "It's almost as if he broke the laws of our lands and got punished." Comments the Praetor upon receiving the report. "To make him out a Martyr, would to be giving false words to a man who got what is deserved." Mumbled the 'Ker to himself.
Guest Share Posted September 4, 2018 The Black Reiter mercenary Consus Valentinian Vallberg honed his dirk against a whetstone with an audible cough, his features seeming placid at the news. "So, you're tellin' me that they wandered a land of heathens insulting their damned pagan gods and one of 'em got killed? That's not martyrdom, that's stupidity. If they wanted to truly kill in the name of the Faith they'd stop whining and painting themselves as dying for a righteous cause. Real men don't die for a cause, they fight it and win it." Cato lofted his shoulders in a gentle shrug before setting more tinder into the fire ablaze. Vrakai was quieter than usual, the men mustered had sallied off to a variety of different causes in return for coin. A small detail of Highway's Men lurked close by along with their banners, dormant since their doomed campaign at Hanseti-Ruska had come to an end. "Brother," Consus began with a tired tone of voice, heavy emphasis on the word. "Perhaps it's time a true force fought for the Church, an unstoppable one that ain't gonna cower before heathenry and the vices of foreigners. The Empire of Man ought to be conquerin' the parts of the world that matter. Not some backwater of useless states, filled to the brim with pagans." And with that the sharpening had come to an end. In place of that was a firm resolve. There would be much to discuss.
