I didn’t like the line of thinking behind your raid rules and I know we’ll see more of the same.

My personal view going into wars is to remove as much red tape as possible. We will see where it goes.

CB’s should probably be changed, but their complete removal is a pretty bad idea

In all seriousness, it’d be good to have some interesting offensive wars. I like the sound of not having to have people constantly tip-toe around CB’s, but the system will obviously be abused unless it is fine tuned. Raids are already a tool to murder activity in smaller free-builds, so why should we de-regulate now conflict rules are a total mess to start.

We should remove every single CB and every single regulation on Raiding as well. If gangs of warriors aren’t allowed to rampage everywhere and commit mass slaughter with minimal reasoning and roleplay behind it then I will be disappointed. Just look at the ACTUAL middle ages, for example. Any place that wasn’t cleanly controlled by one order or another was just a mess or rampaging barbarians 100% of the time. Anyone who didn’t have a weapon was just toast, and LOTC should try to represent this.

 

By turning LOTC into a mosh-pit of non-stop raids and wars, we’d also attract more PvPers and other goons from Faction Servers who want to throw around a 3 word emote every so often. This would greatly benefit the server’s activity by deleting smaller communities and groups that do not enjoy constant conflict and strife and by attracting very fine PvP community members who care about roleplay over pixels obviously.

 

Furthermore, I believe we should implement some kind of region plugin that allows the region to be conquered and held by PvP raiders if they are able to kill enough of the defenders, since this is what would happen in the actual middle ages. This would deregulate the server further and add more dynamic RP as you are forced out of your settlement because some goons thought it would be funny.

 

Anyways, that’s just my ideas. Of course, I may be a bit biased on this topic, but I think my imput still matters

I’m all for removing CBs and making war difficult in different ways.

The majority of LotC’s complex history has been built on the eat or be eaten mindset. It’s a cutthroat environment, but it works. If a nation wants to attack you, I think they should. That being said, the circumstances ought to make sense. A few examples of this: if you defeat another nation, they cannot come back as the same players in a different guild to continue the harassment. If a nation wants to attack you, their logistical route should make sense (not from one side of the continent to the other). We saw this oddity with orcs and snow elves building raiding camps right on the Dominion’s border, despite being cut off from any supply routes (et cetera).

 

CBs don’t really make sense from an IC perspective, so they choke and bury roleplay. Restrict warfare in other logical ways so that it curbs excess slaughter without compromising the integrity of roleplay.

when isn’t a staff member accused of bias. I could say whoever made the Reiver wiki page is biased because they have more ‘lore’ then the Dominion has pages of info on ours lol
