[Clan Shrogo] The Lunar Eclipse

Recommended Posts

Prologue

It was a day just like any other. Rae’Shrogo, one of the Hobgobbas, asked him to go on a sacrifice hunt. Znotglot, ever the devout worshipper of Luara, agreed after Znitgit, his cousin, instructed him to go along with her, smiling and heading off, weapons in hand. They decided to go to the dwarves - they’d never sacrificed a dwarf before, and Znotglot would never get the opportunity to. When they arrived, they were accosted by a guard. Before they could flee, 5 guardians of Urguan had surrounded them. When the fighting began, they left Rae alone, chasing Znotglot into the hills, where he stumbled over a pothole in the cobbles of the road and fell, his fall followed up by the boot of a dwarf.

The Rescue Attempt

He didn’t know what had happened. He was clueless. He awoke in a room, homely and filled with tables surrounded by low stools, hogtied and uncomfortable. His chainmail was gone, his flanged mace was gone, his buckler was gone. His yellow rock idol of the moon had cracked. The moon shone through the small window into the dwarven tower yet. He was hopeful. He waited, trying to convince his captor to free him, speaking to him with a variety of clever schemes. He was fed by the kind captor, given water, checked on, and just as he was certain that he had cracked the dwarf’s mind, he heard the shouts of “Waaagh!” “Lop Luara!” and even “Weeeagh!” He never thought he’d be glad to hear the shrill scream of the Weeaghs, and yet, here he was, shouting “Lop Luara!” as a songbird might respond to its mate. The defense was ready, expecting the Orcish raid and the Dwarves outmatched the Orcish rescuers with a cunning plan. Clangs of metal on metal ensued. Cries of pain emitted. Dwarves and Orcs fell in the orcs’ attempt to save their wayward Gobbgoth. Horrified, Znotglot sat within, bound and tied up, his hope diminished as he heard the dying cries of Orcs and the ensuing shout of “Aruu! Aruu!”, as well as some Dwarvish he didn’t understand. He regretted his decisions. He knew what had happened. He knew that his brethren had been defeated. He knew he would soon see Luara.

To the Moon

He was carried downstairs with a Gorkil he didn’t know. The dwarves began to debate their method of execution, who would get the honor of executing their captives. He cursed the Raguk he had seen fighting with the dwarves, he cursed the Dwarves for their victory and he cursed Aztran for causing the loss of the raid. At length, a human mercenary stepped forward, stabbing Znotglot in the chest in the name of his house. The Goblin’s last words, uttered only to himself, were for Luara’s preservation, for Luara’s blessing and, as he bled out, he was decapitated by the mercenary, his head to be mounted somewhere as a trophy to their victory. He was the first and 2nd to last orc to die in the war between Krugmar and Urguan. When his soul approached the gates of the Stargush’Stro, he was comforted, knowing that he might see his brethren and possibly Luara again.

The “Gobbgoth” was dead. Long live the Gobbgoth! Lop Luara!

Utak Ireheart, Grand Marshal of the Dwarven legion, sits next to the head of the fallen citizen of Krugmar. A bloody axe rests at his feet, glinstering in the moonlight. Utak picks up the head and puts it on his lap, looking it straight in the eyes as he’d mumble: “ah was once on o’ yehrz, fren o’ Krugmar, fren’ o Murak.. now ah a’ve foreva forsaken our relatiunship, lads o’ Krug.”

Znotglot’Shrogo’s dead, lifeless eyes stare back, unable to prevent his head’s manhandling, merely being forced to comply with Utak’s unwanted advances. It can be noted that Znotglot’s face is eerily similar to Znitgit’s, almost identical.

Argnos Frostbeard, would have remembered talking to the lad, feeling that he atleast gave him somewhat of a decent end.
