Zarsies 6795 Share Posted September 19, 2020 Stray, forgettable parcels lay strewn about the human lands, notably around Kaedrin, Johnstown, Haense, Aldemar, and Helena. Some parchments are nailed to trees near byways, some litter ditches and beneath bridges, a minor few others seemingly discarded in alleys; the missives all read the same. Mortal Man mustn’t forget the power in its veins. Spurn the divine warlords who exploit our souls. Invoke the Widow: draw her Mark in your home. Dream of emancipation and She will guide ye. The symbol at the bottom of the bizarre message conjures peculiar meaning; to most it somehow conveys thoughts of people, their family, their race, fauna, or broadly life in general whereas others of esoteric study might recognize it as something more occult. Spoiler [[If your character draws the aforementioned symbol with the intent to “invoke the Widow” please leave a comment on this thread or message me on Discord. Callistus 988 Share Posted September 19, 2020 A Vicar that presided over the chapel of old Johnstown, a village abandoned by beasts and men, ensured that no remnant or trace of the hideous symbol might prevail from the wrath of fire. The migratory hordes of Aemesh find the greatest of affront in blasphemy, for riverside Johnstown is no true home to the Godless among men.

Gladuos 869 Share Posted September 19, 2020 An old Oyashiman man made one of his many excursions across Arcas in search of peculiar, interesting things. On such a journey he came across this missive particularly. The thoughts that came to his mind made him solemn and with a stone-like expression as opposed to his usual, boisterous chuckling. He took the missive with him on his journey home. In the recent years he’s neglected to pay his taxes and expects himself to be evicted soon. That is fine enough, he’s decided to go on a long trip to distant lands again. Always a foreigner, drifting far from home. Yet as he packs his bags in preparation to leave, the missive crosses his mind again. Overcome with curiosity, he goes into his basement. Using crude implements, he scrawls the image onto a stone table dimly lit with candles. He expects nothing to occur, but nonetheless steps back to observe. someome 2053 Share Posted September 20, 2020 A studious being receives the missive, and pulls his notes, realizing a similarity. Rather than placing it within his home, he exits the Grove and seeks an abandoned home in the wilderness. There, he writes the symbol on a doorway, lights the hearth. And waits. Security_ 2287 Share Posted September 20, 2020 An old Wick removes the missive from his favorite gutterpipe, scratching his head curiously as he read. Giving a small shrug, the hag went to his second quarters, etching the familiar symbol high up a stone wall before slathering it red with dried blood. Valannor 6405 Share Posted September 20, 2020 The Ghost of a Keeper would grunt upon retrieving the scrap of paper from its place on the tree, ripping it from the nail pinning it to the bark. Reading the message scrawled onto the parchment, a thought would come to her mind. Later, under the cover of darkness, the symbol would be carved into a hollow tree within the dark swamps, the phantom intent on invoking this “Widow” figure. Hephaestus 1326 Share Posted September 21, 2020 Sleeping Hawk rose unto his own feet, loincloth of hempen and scale draped across his shoulder, tomahawk gripped tightly in the other. Slowly so, the man hung the peculiar paper upon his wall of scrap, held together by the string of moss, similarly so with the remains of weak pelt, and vermin severed upon his ceiling, doorway only littered with beads a plenty. Ringing through, the wind blew at his wind chime softly, sending a familiar buzz through one ear, and coming out through the other. ”Twelve king fisher birds you shall have,” Humming a past the song of the bayous, the Hawk drew with moss, the symbol presented before himself, messily in his recent wake. He burned at the bundled white sage but once, embellishing his interpretation of the rune with fry, and intent to invoke the Widow washing upon him. ”Dive and swim in the ripples of your laugh.” And then, he waited. 1tzHyper 102 Share Posted September 22, 2020 The man, looking at the missive and symbol carves it upon the wall of his home before covering it in the fresh crimson red blood of a human he had only killed a few hours prior. He would look upon his work and smile, satisfied with the result before going to sit in his favourite chair and waits for the widow to appear
justDEWit 133 Share Posted September 22, 2020 After setting up camp in the woods, an adolescent human boy sat before the fire looking deeply at the message that was imprinted onto the paper in his hand. He casted the parchment into the fire, but not before he carved the intricacies of the Widow’s pattern crudely into the ground with his worn greatsword in an attempt to invoke her. He stood back, weapon in both hands, prepared and wary for her arrival. After setting up camp in the forest on the outskirts of some forlorn village, an adolescent boy sat before the fire as he stared deeply at the message on the paper held in his hand. He tried to interpret the meaning of such a thing, and then he thought it would be better to just take it literally. And that he did. “The power in its veins...” He carved the insignia into the dirt before him and the campfire crudely with his greatsword. Then, with the rugged edge of the weapon, he carved a light line into the palm of his hand, allowing his blood to seep into the crevices of the symbol. He placed his weapon between himself and it, the fire lighting the area around him as he sat cross-legged, hands on either of his knees. He closed his eyes and cleared his mind, meditating on the freedom of Man. He awaited the Widow.
