Elsillumiran -- The Weeping Blades, 2A

Preamble: Elsillumiran, colloquially dubbed the Weeping Blades, are the militant body of the Silver State of Haelun’or, which operate from within the resplendent city of Karinah’siol. Born of the reformation of its predecessor, the soldierly-company of the Weeping Blades is composed of the loyal retainers of Larihei and those few high elves yet willing to spill blood in the defense of their home. Skilled peacekeepers and combatants, Elsillumiran are masters of their island domain, having become one with its landscape and the blades and bows they raise against their enemies. Under direct control of the Okarir’tir, they are the strong right-arm of the state, entasked with the safekeeping of the city and the onerous duty of upholding its laws.

Section I: Basic Training & Induction

Elsillumiran, funded and maintained by and for the Silver State, is not a force to be reckoned with. A collective of high elves and willing non-mali under the command of the Okarir’tir, they are forever expected to endure rigorous training that shall mould them into efficient, ethical soldiers and citizens of the Silver State. To climb the rank and file of Elsillumiran, one must first display the discipline necessary to complete the difficult trials that await -- upon completion of said trials, the individual shall be inducted as an oathed soldier of Elsillumiran.

Unoathed sillumiran must work for their uniform, and as initiates, will go through the most basic of training. The initial training will mould their character, instill unto them the respect demanded from soldiers of the Silver State, and strengthen their skills and qualities, that they might become assets in the line of defense of Haelun’or and the flock of Larihei.

This training regime will include: expeditions to continental lands, mock skirmishes, monster-hunting, swordplay, archery training, navigation and cartographical lectures, and lessons on the history and culture of high elven purity.

When the time comes that a captain believes an unoathed sillumir has satisfied their training, they will be granted ceremonial audience with the Okarir’tir so that they might swear themselves unto the Silver State and to the fair city they intend to serve.

To ascend to the rank and file of the officer corps, a sillumir must be referred by an actively serving captain, who will direct the aspiring officer to the Okarir’tir for specialized training and induction.

Section II: Oath of Service

“I, _________, do solemnly swear by the grace of Larihei and elmaehr’sae hiylun’ehya, that I shall bear the weight of the mantle of high elvendom and safeguard the legacy of Larihei against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I shall have faith in and allegiance to the same; that I will never falter in my duties and obligations as elsillumir; that I will give my life in exchange for this purity and serenity; and that I will obey the command of the Okarir’tir and the captain appointed to me, so that order and justice will forever follow in the wake of Elsillumiran; this I swear and shall hold to my heart. That which is demanded of me shall be done, from now until the day of my release from this oath.”

Section III: Customs and Courtesies

Elsillumiran are expected to maintain a certain standard of excellence during their service to the Silver State. In observation of this, the decorum of the sillumirn is strictly drilled. The customs and courtesies displayed in the presence of a superior exemplify gratitude and grant merit to the efficiency and character of the elite company of peacekeepers. This entails rigid professionality, both during and outside of service. Failure to obey the outlined decorum will result in punishment befitting the facetious and immature -- thus, the culture, customs and courtesies expected from the sillumirn are thoroughly instilled unto them through training and routine.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Forms of Address: All sillumiran are to address their peers by their appropriate title and are expected to show the same respect to one another in and outside of service. Words of enmity, disrespect, or insubordination are in grave error; even the most senior sillumir shall receive severe punishment.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

  • “Karin/Ker’ayla, honored captain/councilor” suffices as an appropriate addressal of a commanding officer or silver councilor.
  • “Karin/Ker’ayla, Arelyn” does not suffice as an appropriate addressal. One must be certain to address an officer or councilor by their rank, so as to show respect and acknowledge their authority.
  • “Karin/Ker’ayla, sillumir/Trainee” suffices as an appropriate addressal for any rank beneath the authority of a sillumirn captain.
  • “Mar’karin/ker’ayla, Laurir (surname)” suffices as an appropriate addressal of Eldari councilors and courtiers. When addressing the patriarchs and matriarchs of Haelun'or's families, the intensifier mar- is always added.
  • When entering the presence of a superior officer (or councilor), Elsillumiran must always salute by firmly placing their right hand onto the chest or heart as a fist.
  • When departing the presence of a superior officer (but not councilor), Elsillumiran must always recite “Lye viran adont ito”, which translates from the elven tongue to, “We wait with vigilance.”

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Uniform Address:

Uniforms will be provided to each sillumir, issued by rank. Each variant of the sillumir uniform bears a differently colored pin upon their cape to signify the rank they bear. Uniforms must be worn at all times -- both while performing one's duty and when representing Elsillumiran in any capacity.

Initiates (Trainees) [Unoathed -- Trainees] - Sillumir initiates, also called trainees, are members of Elsillumiran who have joined fresh off the boat. They are unoathed and have yet to be provided the suitable uniform of a sillumir. Trainees are expected to live within Karinah’siol for two weeks and undergo training on military law, authority, and the cultures of both Haelun’or and the Silver State. During their training, many skills and qualities will be drawn out from the recruits, before they are oathed as true sillumir. Initiates do not have any power outside of training unless specifically granted to them by a superior, limited to the singular task they are commanded to fulfill.
