AN OATH BROKEN, A PEOPLE FORGOTTEN

In the capital city of Providence, the Imperial State Army had a captive they had seen before. Now, however, the Army had seized her sister as well. Commanding officers of the Elysium military, the Rangers. The foolish Norlanders had allowed their soldiers to fall asleep at the gates. After a tactical withdrawal from their raid with minimal losses, the two pagans found the gallows. If only their King had protected his own people from the war he had brought on them. Instead, he sent them drowsy and drunk, and incapable of defending them.

It was clear that our minor casualties were soldiers, bred for war. Ready to die. The soldiers the Army had captured, however, despised conflict. They pleaded for their lives, and for their King to end the war he had unjustly brought upon their people. So desperate for warriors, even, that they shoved weapons into the hands of young Elysian women and children. In keeping with their Canonist mercy, as they had done before, the Imperial State Army offered to let any children or women leave the battlefield.

However, when King Sven's people had finally awoken to rescue the captured combatants, they rescued only the Paragon of the Red Faith, showing their affection for their false God in place of saving the suffering people of Elysium.

In order to purify her of her broken promise to denounce the King of Norland, Cardinal Gawain had offered the blessings of God upon one of them, baptizing them in the holy waters of Gamesh, so she may die in the light of God, and seek penance from the purifying fire of Owyn. The Nordling remained blessed by the will of God but not forgiven for her crimes against the flock of the mother church. Upon the orders of the Archchancellor, with the approval of the Cardinal, the Pagans had left our world to answer for the crimes committed against the Canonist people.

We hope the next time the King begins a war he cannot win, he recalls the abuse he gave the people of Elysium. Let us hope, for the sake of the people of Elysium, his soldiers are awake next time. To the People of Elysium, we hear your plea.

All Glory to God.

Joseph d'Azor frowns as he watches the first pagan hang upon the gallows, with a tear from his eye he turned to the next criminal awaiting their turn for the Emperors Justice "My friend, this fate need not be your peoples in the future, why do the folk of Elysium willingly die for a King that cares nothing for them? Why does the King of Norland send young elysian boys to die in foreign wars?" With a tilt of his head and an exhalation he tilts his head. "May GOD save you, and I pray your comrades see the truth of their enslavement as cannon-fodder in King Svens illegal war of aggression." The ranger was lead up to the gallows and the trapdoor would drop...

Archchancellor d'Azor stood before the ranks of the victorious men and women that stood bravely against the Pagans upon the eve. He would sign the Lorianne upon thanking the Cardinal for his aid.

"Soldiers, let the noose drop!" He would shout!

And with that another Pagan fell, with the blood placed to the King of Norland's hands.

"Has he not made his people suffer enough?!" He would shout once more to the masses. As they echoed the courtyard with there outcry -- and support against the unjust ruler.

Philip Michael Pruvia smiles as he hears the news. "Kill the bad men and women! They bought the bad fellows who tried to kill me and Joseph!"

Aylin de Astrea frowned, somewhat confused by the language of the missive. Did they wish Elysium's liberation or damnation? Nor did she know how one could so comfortably and loftily speak of such lies of bidding women and young children leave, as she had buried friends in both categories.
If anything, the Badawi and former Orenian prayed for the civilians of Providence. That they, too, wouldn't be swayed by such lies.

Captain Ruthern watched the hangings, observing the pagans last moments. “Its a shame really, even in their own city they aren’t safe.”

"Kill every Nordling and burn down Elysium! Water that stupid godforsaken tree while you're all at it!" Cardinal Gawain screeched from his Cathedral.

"I HATE ALL NORDLINGS!!!"

Vykk looks around at the rally that had saved him, knowing full well that if he wanted, he could have easily defeated the feeble Orenian army "What are they talkin' about, I was the only person they captured and I was rescued..."

"Why did it have to be you two that had to be captured?"

Corporal Ezekiel Moores turned away at the sound of the Ranger's neck snapping. He buried his face into his palms, letting out a muffled scream.

He looked back up, staring at the limp body before him. His eyes were dejected. Hollow. Ezekiel Moores was no longer the man he once was.

"Dulce et decorum est, pro patria mori."

He utters, with a tinge of bitter-sweet under his breath.

“When they start to lie and change history, we know we’ve won.” Captain Ruthern comments as he observes the aftermath of the hanging.

Vykk looks around wondering where that voice came from inside his clan home. "By the Father, they really do have demon magic."
