A RESPONSE TO THE RISORGANIST RADICALISM

An Etching Depicting the Slaughter of Adunian Burghers, 1432

The history of the Adunian people has long been one of persecution, wrought with bloodshed and animosity toward those who follow our Harrenite culture and traditions.

For centuries, our race has been targeted by those who despise the very being of our people. Our life, liberty, and property have been upended by those who would seek to without fail throughout the ages. Indeed, even our very right to exist has been questioned throughout the long and illustrious history of humanity.

Thankfully, such animosity has been done away with in recent centuries. The historical tensions between brothers have been done away with. No longer do we fight each other on the streets, for we all live beneath the banner of One Country, One God, and One Emperor. We are all loyal Canonists who worship the same God. And we all bleed the same blood in service to our Emperor, with many Adunian soldiers putting their lives on the line through service in the ranks of the ISA and MOJ each and every day.

However, there are those who would seek to abandon the progress that we have achieved, those who hold nothing but frothing, and unjustified, hatred in their hearts toward our people.

They call themselves “Risorganists.”

In their recently published manifesto, they have espoused a number of mistruths and outright lies. They have claimed us to be under the influence of a “Curse of Deception.”

Yet, in truth, it is they who are the deceivers!

They cling to archaic stereotypes and the ignorance of others in the hopes of achieving their ends, feeding off of our society’s vices and the most irrational of our society’s fears. These radicals would hope to one day displace our existing institutions, meticulously engineered for the liberty of all by the Titans of State, in favor of the implementation of their own radical agenda.

The ideology which they tout is one that is based on nothing more than a thinly veiled hatred and barbarism. In their manifesto, they have claimed that our entire people have been “afflicted by Iblees to demonstrate an urge for deception,” a claim which is nothing more than an affront to every Adunian man, woman, and child.

We Adunians are also sons of Horen and Julia. Though they would have you believe otherwise, we are, in fact, loyal Canonists. At the beginning of every week, we attend mass and worship the same God alongside the rest of our Canonist brothers and sisters. To be specifically labeled as being  “afflicted by Iblees” by these most nefarious individuals is nothing more than an insult of the highest degree.

In the last war, nearly 65% of the Adunian population of Oren enlisted to fight against the pagan scourge.

We joined the ISA in droves to defend both Canonism and Orenian values as a whole, for this country is our home. Our sacred honor and allegiance to all that we valued demanded that we do so.

And yet, we did not see the good Cardinal Gawain himself enlist to fight in the war! Perhaps His Eminence was too busy donning the garments of a Renatian warlord to take notice?

For all the Risorganists' talk of support for the soldiers of our Empire, he has neglected to realize that scores of Adunians fought in the service of it during the last war. They would have the citizenship of these soldiers stripped, to treat their fellow sons of Horen as though they were naught but beast folk. Where is the support for those who shed their blood alongside their fellow Orenian brothers, that we might live free of the pagan tyranny?

A Painting of a House of Commons Session with Adunian John Stahl-Elendil as Majority Leader, 1788

Adunian statesmen, civil servants, and soldiers have labored for the betterment of our country for decades, in support of the dream envisioned by the great Titans of State. Those who would seek to oppress us would claim that we seek power, yet this is simply not so.

We have been without a home for centuries, a diaspora that has been scattered among the nations. It is a sad thing, to be without the warmth of a hearth or the companionship of one’s brothers. It is in Oren though that we have found our home, and it is to Oren and to the Crown that we express our undying allegiance.

As the Scroll of Virtue says in Verse 9 of the Canticle of Patience:

"So I am the Most High, and in pursuit of My Virtue, I bid my faithful this: You shall not raise a hand in wrath, nor in envy, nor in any kind of sin."

We beg of our Orenian brothers not to be deceived by these most venomous lies, propagated by the Neo-Renatians and spread by those with hatred in their hearts. Please, do not strip us of our home that we love.

His Excellency, the Vice-Chancellor, himself is an Adunian. He has already expressed outrage and disappointment to the Ministry that the Church would allow such sentiment against children of the Canonist flock.

We thus beseech our liege, His Imperial Majesty John VIII, to respond to the existence of this rhetoric by reaffirming the Crown’s commitment to protecting our rights within his domains. We also ask that he consider adding to his titles “Protector of the Adunians.”

Signed,

Anastasia O’Rourke, Countess of Halstaig, Head of House O’Rourke

Jonah Stahl-Elendil, Baron of Stahl-Elendil, Head of House Elendil

Keaghen Armas, Vice-Chancellor of the Empire, Head of Clan Armas

John Napier, President of the House of Commons, Head of Clan Napier

Elizabeth Wittenbach, Right-Bank House of Commons Representative

"One country, One god, One emperor." Remarks Akello Cenobia from his balcony within the county of Halstaig "In all my years of working for the empire, the Adunians, and along side the Adunians- I say the Risorganists are foolish. . . It is a mighty people and a mighty culture. . . Shame. . ." And with that the groundskeeper would close the his copy of the missive and return to the tending of the Halstaig Fields.

A woman of blue shifted her spectacles, sighing as she tossed the note into the fireplace of the tavern. "Curse of Deception? Perhaps these... Risorganists are more perceptive than one might believe."

A visitor wandered into the area, taking a seat across from the lady. He payed her little mind as he read as he read the manifesto, turning to the lass as he rapped his digits onto it. "Can you believe it? This is an outrage!"

The woman merely gave a shrug, shaking her head all the while. "The law will decide this." Closing her book before her, she arose from the seat, taking a stroll out into the rain.

Truly, it was raining somewhere.

Elizabeth Wittenbach, a businesswoman and grassroots Member of the House of Commons, simply continues to knit a dish towel at her residence in the country as she watches her daughter play with toys by the hearth.

She quietly prayed for an end to the political mayhem, wishing for nothing more than for a quick return to normalcy.

"Napier, the man who had relations with an orc on numerous occasions, why do they refuse to address the many offspring that resulted of this cursed and disgusting relationship, including the abomination that sits at the head of the House of Commons? Not exactly the good canonists that they tout, are they?" asked Father Basil.

"Couldn't have said it better myself." Remarks Woodes O'Rourke sitting idly in his chair within the Paddy's Pint as he continues to read this missive, while a cigar hangs from his mouth "The Adunian people have done many a things for the empire and I personally say to these Risorganists that their ideals are foolish nothing more, nothing less." This O'Rourke thereafter closes the missive as well as removing the cigar from his lip as a scowl goes across his face turning his attention back to waiting for patrons.

"But.. Napier is still a part of the House of Commons, mm.. ?", Tylos I frowns visibly as he whispers to the Vice-Chancellor Gawain regarding Risorgimentism, walking through the Imperial gardens, holding a rose with his gloved hand, "I beg you listen to me now, Vice-Chancellor. What we are going to do, is..", and so they continued talking until the sunset..

Deep within the Augustine John VIII sat sipping a mug of jasmine tea. He flipped to the last page of the letter.

“Theresa, dear, what do you make of this?”

During his daily ISA workout, the Ensign Cillian O'Rourke would be greeted by a fellow soldier handing him the missive from his Aunt. He gives small chuckle as he wipes the sweat from his brow, taking the missive in his metal hand so he could look over the blisters on his normal right hand, a result of his vigorous training. "They who claim we do nothing for Oren." he gives another chuckle, nodding his gratitude to his comrade. "You can sit back and call us devils. You do so from the safety we provide you.

He gingerly folds the missive up and sets it aside before dropping his hands to begin his pushups. As he worked absentmindedly, he thought back to the situation at hand. He closed his eyes as his body began to scream for him to quit. He let his mind fill with the images of all the Adunians this threatened, and forced his body to comply as he continued on.

"The Risorganists have many worthy political thoughts.

Enhanced representation of the Church within the state, the promotion of Imperial Cultural unity among them. I would be pleased to see more clergy in the ISA, the Imperial Ministries, and our House of Commons. For the word of GOD should be with us constantly. I would encourage any Clergy to seek me out in the Ministry of Civil Affairs, for I would be pleased to welcome a Chaplain into the ranks to serve the needs of our faithful citizens all. Specifically, so that we may baptize those orphans and new Citizens who are without the light of the Canonist faith upon arrival.

However, racial judgment against the descendant races is a relic of the old Empire, when lesser men felt threatened. Our Empire now is a beacon of civilization, always with areas to improve.

Judging individuals for their parents or the geographic location of their origins is something those from Haelun'Or delight in, and I had hoped would be relegated to the gates of the Silver State and be forgotten here in the Empire, that my family has called home.

Let it be said that an Imperial is judged by the merits of their actions, not by who their descendant parents may be.

On the matter of Napier, the point is fair to condemn the father for violating Church doctrine. History is right to judge him as a sinner. So too did each of the four sons sin, and so too are we all sinners - none can avoid the confessional. Let us not levy punishment against the son for the sins of the father. Let us judge President Napier for his own successes and failures as they may be.

Each Imperial judged for their Imperial merits alone. Speak and be heard, those who believe in Risorganism. For your work is a political theory worthy of publication, though I think you may find the anti-adunian bend rather infertile from the start.

"I would fervently support the policies of the Risorganists if they did away with their Harrenite policies.."

The Dowager commented to nobody in particular, perhaps at a political tea, at the local shops or simply as she scorned the local peasants on her morning stroll.

"No half-orc should be appointed to rule over the legislative body for the entire empire over any human, this is after all a human nation or did we revert to fill the void that the old Sutica once did?" asked Basil.
