The Archchancellor stepped out of the courtroom following the grim event that had just occurred. The defendant in the case instead of attempting to prove his innocence saw it fit to take his own life by brutally bashing his head against a table. A shame he thought, that the young mans soul would be doomed to eternal damnation for their cowardice crime- to commit suicide. He would look over to his Director of Civil Affairs- Josephine Augusta . . .

“No Crow I know would be so craven as to throw away their own life as such- a gift from God.”

He recalls the events that had taken place leading up to this trial. An attempt on his life by two assailants wielding crossbows with the help of a third to lure him into a compromising location. It had all happened so fast but even though he escaped with his life he still took an arrow in the process. He remembered their faces, pale skin, black hair, fair eyes-  Highlanders.

“The young Carrion had a good chance at the start, all we had was circumstantial evidence that put them in association with the assassins and the attempted plot. But when the same killers returned to the city, hostage in tow, and demanded that we release ‘Their man’ any chance at innocence was stolen away. How tragic.”

Drasus once more rubbed tenderly at the wound left by the crossbow bolt, thankful of the quick action by Senior Corporal Julian Ein Sark of the Imperial State Army in administering first aid.

"Niet true Carrion would take himself out like that. A Carrion fights to the bitter end." Sir Erik Othaman scoffed as he spit upon the corpse of Ilya in the Imperial Morgue.

"Vy are a disgrace to the namesake of Emperor Tobias."
