TwiSama 331 Share Posted October 3, 2021 ꧁The Kanavainua꧂ Eagle in spirit of those we've lost and keep with us ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ --------------------------- The Kanavainua seed is made us of those who believe in being free spirited amongst the waters of the lands. Those of the seed are strong believers of the Thunderbird Nemglan and praise her for their safety whilst at sea, if it is salmon hunting or hunting a whale. Some around the seed were old members, related to, or known the Tahorran seed when it was still known. Many traditions from the seed is still used today to respect those once known and keeping the traditions alive. Ilmyumier The tattoo worn by those of the seed represent the sea bearers. When looked closely, the art upon the member would represent the oceans tides. Much detail is put into the tattoo, and if wanted, any upcoming member can add something original to it to make it their own, if it were a small fish design or an eagle, each tattoo will be unique to that person, or they may keep the original design. Canoe Making As from old Tahorran traditions, cedar wood is use to make the canoes when it comes to river fishing or going joyriding down waterfalls. These boats can be carved into for various designs to tell stories or to interpret the person as a whole. Totem Poles The totem poles of the Kanavainua are a way for those of the seed to praise the Thunderbird. These poles take time to craft and paint, typically taking months to make. They are typically used for offerings to Nemglan or just a way to pray to her when wanted. Legends Spoiler For the storiesNative American Indian Eagle Legends, Meaning and Symbolism from the Myths of Many Tribes (native-languages.org) During some peaceful nights, those that have been apart of the seed for a long time, know of the legends told by past chieftains. Usually told around a fire, these stories tell how the Thunderbird is a strong mani, capable of being a great warrior, as many members are within the seed. Bone Weapons Bone weapons are typically owned by members of the Kanavainua seed. They are typically made from whale bones, but can also be made from other animals they kill from hunts. These weapons are designed to the persons liking to show their unique character. Trials The trials to becoming a Kanavainua member depends on the person. Every new initiate will receive different trials based on their personalities, trying to bring out the best in each and everyone of them. But, the last trial is the same for everyone of them. Initiates will have to go on a whale hunt, from there, they will use the bones from the whale to make their own bone weapon unique to them.
