Sons of Nagg Warband Post

After landing upon the shores of Almaris almost fifty years ago in a shipwreck, Fishbref - initially of Clan Lak - undertook the process of reforming his crew. Freebooting and trading in slaves was in his blood, and as such a significant source of livelihood for the good Captain. As soon as his feet touched Krugmarian soil he spread word among the various criminal circles within Almaris of his activities, but ultimately drew much of his crew from within Krugmar. Together they stole a small ship from the Orenian dockyard and once again took to the high seas in pursuit of riches. It was within an abandoned tin mine, near what is now the Lordship of Du Loc, where these treasures were squirrelled away and largely forgotten about. The hills, in time, reclaimed the mine, testament to the fickle nature of man’s industry, and not a soul stepped foot in it for nearly fifty years.

The Rex Kor’garr recognised the talents of Fishbref, and he was soon elevated to the prestigious position of Targoth alongside his compatriot Hu-Din. Freebooting became a thing of the past, although Fishbref remained a lively patron of the slave trade as he found faith in the Raguk Pantheon - particularly the patron Spirit, Leyd - and was converted by his Wargoth, Grishluk. Soon, the tides of war came once more to Krugmar and such activities were finally dispensed as uruks, slaves and auxiliaries alike were forced to bear arms against the encroaching dwed hordes, led by Grand King Levian’Tol Grandaxe. Fishbref and Hu-Din found much success, beating back dwed raiding parties many a time, including the Rustler mercenaries who had been employed to do the King’s dirty work. In one battle, Fishbref famously claimed the beard of Grand Marshal Bakir Ireheart. Nevertheless, as Kor’garr’s reign stagnated, a new political force took hold of the levers of power - Skatchnaak’Izig and his ilk. They thought it wise to cease the hostilities with the dwed despite the initial success of the Krughai, contrary to the protests of both Targoths. For their service they were duly rewarded with being whitewashed - the worst fate an uruk could behold; worse even than death.

With this news, fearing arrest and a dishonourable death, both Targoths took to hiding and eventually parted ways. Hu-Din disappeared into the jungle; Fishbref thought it more fitting to take to the desert. The desert had been the home of the uruks for many years, and had always been a great font of spiritual health. The silence, but for the winds and shifting sands, proved a tested remedy for afflictions of the soul, and a medium for Spiritual connection. Meanwhile, many miles away in that old tin mine, someone stirred. They daubed it with murals, now since faded with time, built pyres and shrines, before stealing off - their destination known only to Providence.

Upon his return, Fishbref rallied his brethren - loyal soldiers who had fought valiantly under him - and returned to his old hideout. They heeded his call, for the war's end was untimely, and the deed dealt unto Fishbref by the Rex a grave injustice. This motley company was joined by shamans, unhappy with the spiritual state of Krugmar, and uruks who yearned for a return to the culture of their forefathers. What they were to find in this old tin mine would prove to be far beyond simple mundanities…

Why can you not accomplish the niche of this lair’s roleplay in an existing settlement or nation? (We expect a substantial answer for this, not just ‘I don’t like them’).

Targoth Fishbref was expelled from Krugmar and whitewashed following the end of the Ork-Dwarf hostilities to appease Urguan following the accession of Skaatchank’Izig to the Orkish Rexdom. Whilst banishing both he and his fellow Targoth, Hu-Din, Skaatchnak also outlawed slavery and similar such staple practices of Orkish culture.

Recently, there have been murmurings of a wish to return to slavery and other outlawed practices from the common-folk, but none have taken the initiative to challenge the Rex on this issue, nor is Fishbref in any position to do so due to his legal status as a whitewash. He also yearns for the return of his dying Clan to its glory days - and has decided that a separation from the Uzg would facilitate this, as it did in times gone by; although the Raguks were once known as the Vanguard, they have historically been unafraid to bear their teeth and rebel from Krugmar when its direction has not pleased them. He hopes to draw uruks from across Krugmarian society - old and diaspora Raguks, clanless and clan uruks alike, as well as descendants involved as auxiliaries - to aid him in this recovery.

What does this lair add to the greater world around them?:

A genuine bandit / slaver / illicit organization HQ which will provide a greater depth of mundane villainy roleplay than the stale and beaten horse of “halt, minas or die'' banditry common to the roads; enriching some of the vast, open and empty space of Almaris; invoking a sense of danger and mystique through hexing and the general torment inflicted by crazed witchdoctors, and something authentically player-run for other groups to engage in and investigate or do battle with. Provide an antagonistic group to the current status quo in Krugmar.

In addition to the activities of slavery and forced labour, the site is intended to contribute to an ongoing Clan Raguk revival as a secluded location where the Clan can operate in relative secrecy. Other activities will include religious ceremonies and shamanism / haruspex micro-events to reveal to the playerbase fragments of Clan history and lore, as well as engaging in the mundane (craftsmanship-driven and non-magical religious) rp of the Clan. It is hoped that this lair will provide kindling for a full-scale Raguk revival, due in the coming months.

Most importantly, the lair is intended to be a meeting ground for the convergence of important shamans - of which the warband and Clan together have many - uruks as zealous as Fishbref who is himself a staunch adherent to the Raguk cult, and culturally significant figures such as the Yellers who are quasi-shamanistic body of priests, each representing a Spirit of the Raguk Pantheon. With the moral direction Skatchnaak’Izig has taken Krugmar in, these elements of Krugmar yearn for a place where they can practice now frowned upon activities separately both politically and geographically from Krugmar.
