Pronouncement of the Hereditary Princeps of Ebonwood

The Melphestaus family is pleased to announce the birth of the hereditary princeps, his serene highness, Nicholas Melphestaus. Born to father, Minuvas & Morgana. A great deal was debated amongst the family regarding the upbringing and the future of Nicholas, whether the child shall have a more ancestral Elven education or one that focuses on an elite Imperial upbringing. These matters have been settled, and internal arrangements made within the family that resolved this matter and more. The child shall not inherit his Imperial titles until coming of fifty years of age and is directed to serve and learn from both the crowns of men and elf as is custom for the family.  May the friendship of Malin and Horen flourish wherever the child goes.

ARTICLE I: ON ARRANGEMENTS FOR THE HEIR

 

1. Nicholas shall for the first fifty years of his life receive an Imperial upbringing with an education that focuses on the arts, history, sciences, Canonism, the importance of the State and the enshrined rights of the Nenzing. The sizable collection of Imperial works, preserved from his Father’s time in Imperial State service as a senior official, shall be unsealed to request special literature as necessary to aid in his education. In addition, he shall not only aspire an education on the importance of the state but shall endeavor to learn from the Haensemen the individual qualities of men - their hardy endurance for the sword. He shall be encouraged to learn from the petty realms of men their distaste for Nobility and Kings.

 

2. Nicholas must for the first century of his life ward himself to service within one of the three recognized lines to the Imperial Crown; Alstion, Sigismund or Novellen and their States. He shall be obligated to serve no single State or nation forthwith; but he may not serve under any nation that is not led by a descendant of the Imperial line.

 

3. Nicholas shall be baptized in the Canonist faith and take up the family patron saint of St. Pius of Sutica, but shall be taught Malinism and offered the opportunity to convert without rebuke upon his fiftieth birthday if he chooses. He shall be protected from the temptations of the Arcane and spiritualism until he is an adult of fifty years, capable of understanding such consequences of these choices.

 

ARTICLE II: EXTENUATING MATTERS OF THE HOUSE

 

1. The titles of Imperial Prince, Princeps of the Ebonwood, Duke of Ravenmour, Viscount of Mirame and Warden of the Pale of Aldemar shall be placed into abeyance until Nicholas reaches fifty years of age. Should he violate the terms of his upbringing, he shall forfeit his inheritance.

 

2. Nicholas must for the first century of his life ward himself to service within one of the three recognized lines to the Imperial Crown; Alstion, Sigismund or Novellen and their States. He shall be obligated to serve no single State or nation forthwith; but he may not serve under any nation that is not led by a descendant of the Imperial line.

 

3. Nicholas shall study within the Elven realms and is to take on mentorship from across the Melphestaus family.

 

4. Upon signature of this document, Maelgar rescinds his status as Patriarch of House Melphestaus. An election of the new family head shall occur within two saints weeks/elven weeks. He shall retire, and serve as an advisor to members of the Household.
