The Offer

My name is Lord Raziel Amethil and I intend to take up two pupils to be taught alongside my son Cruan what it truly means to be Celianorian. I will take you on a journey to understand the voidal arts, learn at least one of them and make you acquainted with our past as a nation.

This includes teaching:

The Arcane Arts  once you are ready

Craftsmanship

What it means to truly be Celianorian

The History and Culture of Celia’nor

Though our focus will be on the study of magic, you will first need to understand what it means to be Celianorian.

The Expectations

I expect you to do the following: Explain to me why it should be you who will be taught, how you intend to use these skills for the greater good of our nation. Send me a proper letter in which you elaborate your intentions and ideas - the better your reply, the higher your chances.

I await your answer.

Siol would read over the missive and begin writing a letter. “Dear lord Raziel, I would love to be taken under your wing to help me learn more about the arcane arts as well as the history and culture of Celia’nor. If you choose to accept me I can promise my utmost attention and due diligence. Do be aware I already have started to learn some voidal arts, but I would love to learn another, and if possible, I would love to learn translocation. As you know I have read the history of Celia’nor and its leaders, which, while good, is not enough for me. I wish to learn of what it really means to be Celianorian, and how to properly be apart of Celia society. Yours truly, Siol.”

Ilyana exited her tower home and creaked the mailbox open. Rubbing her eyes and taking hold of the letter that lay unopened within. Later on she found herself writing a reply on a clean sheet of parchment;

Laurir Raziel,
Your offer to teach two select residents of Celia’nor is a gracious offer, one I wish to apply for. I have lived within the Principality for nearly a decade and through those years I have tried and failed at properly learning the history and true meaning of being a resident. Something I have always been taught to hold dear is the history of the society that I live amongst; under your guidance it is no doubt that this will be properly achieved should I be one of the two you select to mentor. Already as a fledgling magi I’ve sought to use the arcane arts to protect those dear to me and those I live with, along with my knowledge in medicine, which I believe is vital information to hold due to the conflict around Almaris.
I hope to be one you select for this offer, until then, travel well and GOD be with you.
- Ilyana.

One reply is sent out, tucked into the post by a small, thin, pale hand.

Spoiler

Laurir Raziel Amethil,

Hello! My name is Cresence. Many of my family members are mages, and I also seek that out. My maln lives in the capital, but I'm usually in Starpool at my uncle's house. I have my mothers grimoire- she was a mage, and she knew a lot about cities and cultures, like it was her job. I am still a kid, ten, almost eleven. I would like to make magic very useful, my glasses are magic, and they let me see color. I read a lot of books, I'm always at the library trying to learn. I read about history, magic, languages. I'm trying to learn that one human one, Auvergnian, and also Elven. My name's one of the Auvergnian names.

I bake, my maln does too, and I end up giving most of it to other people. I think my main goal is to help people, but I don't have enough experience for that yet. Would you like to talk in person? I don't think I'm good at writing. It might be easier. I hope this is a good reply for now.

Ahernan,
Cresence Onfroi-Amlugol Avila

Fae would look at the letter, her eyes sparkling with wonder as she grabbed a quill and some parchment and began penning a reply.
Dear Lord Raziel,
I have come across your missive and I am very pleased to see such a kind and educational offer such as yours.
I have been fascinated with the arcane arts ever since I was a small child and being able to learn a skill within the craft as well as delving into the history and culture of Celianor, is something I just cannot pass up.
I wish to learn the arcane arts so I can unravel the mysteries of magic, to be able to protect those I love and hopefully help bring peace to those in distress.

I wish to thank you for your time and courteous offer.

Kind Regards,
Faerie Adiler

An old and maddened elfess took a break from her extensive mourning schedule to shake her fist angrily at the town of Celianor from her palace room.

As the very same old and maddened elfess steps out of the gremlin cove the first time in this century she could find something: All types of food, clearly against the bad mood!

[The young Mali'aheral took up her quill, dipping it in the dark ink of her well, and watching it blossom onto the white parchment]

Raziel Amethil,

This is rare, and everyone intends to win so I will too.

I grew up most of my life in Celia'nor where the skies were deep and the streets cleaner than they should be, I was told from others that Celia'nor was rotten from the core, that we took in those who would darken our doorsteps with gore and the sounds of shattering bone.

"Power is will, wrong is debatable, right even more so"

I enjoyed the library there over all other interactions. The feeling of chrysalism when it rained, when you had every excuse to stay inside and the smell of petrichor wafting through the windows during late Sun's Smile. I learned about medicine and other cultures, above all the arcane interested me most. "Power is will" and the void was a manifestation of our concentration, it was high beauty, it was right there along with the word impossible. I'm hoping that these hidden truths in Celia'nor are only a fleeting shadow, if not then I'd like to help using the arcane.
Illusions can be used as medicine for those of us with broken minds, to help them remember where they were and hypnotize and coax those with wrong intentions. Voidal arts can be used alongside science to help further enhance our society and safeguard the city.

Those who believe that the void brings corruption have sight but lack ambition. Those who want it need sight, honor, truth, and will. They must not break.

I promise I will not break

A young man by the name of Nuvian Py'lrie reads the letter and decides to write back.

"Dearest Raziel,

You most likely do not know me, for I have kept to myself for the time I have been alive. Indeed, you have most likely received letters from all sorts of people. So, I suppose the question in your head is: "Why should I take this nobody in as a student?"

I think the key word there is potential. My mind is an unstocked shelf, and my eyes yet unopened to the way of the world. I am yet to truly understand myself and the land I live in, and so I must admit that I've little to offer and much to gain. However, I believe honesty is key, and perhaps you'd appreciate having something of a blank slate to teach.

To conclude, I believe that I would make a good student, even if I am perhaps something of a dark horse. Regardless of the outcome, I appreciate your time and thank you for reading.

Yours truly,

Nuvian."

[!] The pale 'aheral hums thoughtfully as she sets aside the missive, folding it neatly before tucking it away in her bookshelf. Perhaps sending a bird in response to such a missive would be beneficial.

She hopes and prays her bird won't be shot down again.

Laurir Raziel Amethil,

First and foremost, ahernan for  presenting such a great opportunity to the curious audience in Celia'nor. As such, you must've received a bountiful amount of letters before mine - but this does not deter me.

I have been living within the domain of Celia'nor for a hefty portion of my life, but despite this fact I have come to realize that I've never truly learnt Celia'nor's history, and neither do I know of our culture. There have been countless times where I've been questioned upon such matters but could only really muster the basics. This is knowledge I wish to learn only to spread and help teach Celia'nor's generations to come as well as curious travellers.

The arcane arts inspire me. To see that something as destructive as fire can be used for something as simple and wholesome as lighting a candle or creating a vast display of light in the form of fireworks is intriguing. The idea of there being a limitless mass of emptiness in which voidal mages draw their power is a concept I only wish to study further. I wish to spread the wonders of magic with the rest of Almaris and - should the day come - teach it to those similar to myself. I think you can assist me in my endeavor.

I will have you know that I have already began to meddle with the Voidal Arts. I hope this won't pose as too much of a problem should you decide to teach me.

Daisy would read the letter and jump up from her desk. She sat back down and continued to read the rest of it.

Dear Laurir Raziel Amethil,

It is Daisy writing you. I have read the letter you have given me and I must say. I am very interested.

As you know history and magic are two of my favorite things. I am inspired by both of them.

The history part of your teachings interest me because you can learn a lot from the history. Because most of the time History is to repeat itself.

As you also know I am greatly inspired by magic and would love to learn about the Arcane Arts and how to use it.

I am certain there are other people who have written you back for this too. But just know that I am always eager to learn and to read.

          Yours truly,

          Daisy
As she finished her letter she hoped she could convince Raziel to teach her.

She got up from her desk and sent the letter to Raziel
