Ramon 3966 Popular Post Share Posted September 26, 2023 THE MIRACLE AT REINMARREGARDING CALLIOPE VON ALSTREIM As penned by the PRINCE OF SUTICAOn this 12th day of Sigismund’s End of 1943 To His Holiness the High Pontiff, Sixtus V, and the Curia of the Holy Mother Church, May the blessings of divine grace and unfaltering peace that flow from the Lord God be ever before you, and the Communion of Saints in the Seven Skies ever intercede on your behalves.I have written this writ to you in the hopes of attaining recognition for one of our Lord’s most devoted servants in life, namely Calliope Renata von Alstreim, of whose miracle-working capacities His Holiness and the Curia of the Holy Mother Church have no doubt heard before as of the Merryweather Miracles notice previously released by His Grace, the Bishop of Buron. And though I can speak not for the legitimacy of this alleged miracle, I can offer testimony as to a perceived miracle I, and a good number of my ever loyal houseguard, were witness to following a prayer to her just a Saint’s Day prior during an attack of undead.Though perhaps it be wise, first and foremost, to recount to His Holiness and the Curia of the Holy Mother Church the story of her life, for though it is generally known among our kin that the reposed nun served the Mother Church faithfully all her life, and seemingly continues to serve the Canonist flock now that she dwells in the Seven Skies, most of her contemporaries, such as the three successive High Pontiffs under which she served from Tylos II to the most righteous High Pontiff Pontian IV, have long since passed on to the Seven Skies themselves. SISTER CALLIOPE RENATA OF MERRYWEATHER (1846 - 1914) Born to Ulrich Lothar von Alstreim and Nikita of Merryweather in the year 1846, Calliope Renata von Alstreim, more commonly known and referred to in life as the Merryweather Maiden or Maiden of Merryweather, was a devoted nun of the Church of the Canon who joined the Sisterhood of the Mother Church in the former lands of the Principality of Savoy. There, in service to the King of Kings and His Prophet Horen, she was instrumental in the protection of the Southern churches and reliquaries that remained in the southern mainland, which at the time had come under threat of pagan Vistulians, who, having taken over the Daelish Isles, sought to occupy the former Canonist lands of Freimark, Merryweather, Lvinsk and Niseep under the guise of having been asked to protect them by the last Princess of Savoy, whilst having the true intention of pillaging these territories until nothing Canonist remained. This much she did by petitioning the Holy Mother Church and the Canonist Monarchs to come to the aid of these former territories, which they did, which in time resulted in the signing of the Pact of the Southern Winds in 1874, which ensured Canonist pilgrims free travel, and Hyspians that had sought to return to the south during this time, but previously come under threat of raids and threats of genocide, safe settlement in their desired territory.Following this major success, which she dedicated to the Lord God first and foremost, the Sister Calliope went on to serve the Holy Mother Church more directly, aiding in the designing and construction of a multitude of churches throughout Canondom, such as the former Chapel of Saint Edmond in Haute-Epine, and the Chapel of Saint Ottomar of Merryweather by Corwinsburg. In a similar sense, she designed a monument to the Nauzican Martyrs of Haverlock, torn down last continent and carefully recreated upon our arrival to Aevos, and thus visible in front of Whitespire to this day, dedicated to the by our Holy Mother Church deemed Venerable Nauzican martyrs that died in battle fighting against the Orenian Empire, which at the time of this battle and their death was ruled by rulers that were Anathematized. Though these were not her only contributions to Canondom, for she was an active participant in the fight against Darkspawn (in stark contrast to most nuns, who have often been found out to be Darkspawn themselves!), partaking in frequent vampire testing around Canondom, as well as the Serheim Crusade that went on from 1890 to 1895, during which the Sister was given special dispensation to wear plate to fight Frost Witches and Vampires by Pontian IV. She continued in such a calling even after the Crusade, until her eventual retirement later on in life as she grew old, whereafter she took it upon herself to maintain the Chapel of Saint Ottomar at Corwinsburg, continuing to live by strict monastic rule until her repose in 1914. Having thus recounted her virtuous life to Your Holiness and the Curia both, I see it fit to address the miracle that has brought this petition into being, and stress that, if the Curia has any questions regarding this, I would be more than willing to be summoned for testimony. As previously stated in this petition, just last Saint’s Day, the Duchy of Reinmar faced an attack by a band of undead men calling themselves the Order of Dead Men. Presumably led by the Necromancer jester Funnybone (the only one we were specifically able to recognize), these undead men slew what they could of our cattle after sacking our barn and left their corpses at our gate before setting the land around Sankt Johannsburg ablaze. And though they were defeated after a brief scuffle after Canonist forces sallied out of the gate, it seemed in the aftermath that the damage done to the surrounding lands, specifically the barn from which the undead had clearly taken the slaughtered animals, was as good as irreversible. Then, as the dust of battle settled, I remembered the Merryweather Miracles and the reposed Sister Calliope came to mind, and I swiftly made for the recently consecrated chapel within the keep to pray to her, asking for her intercession. From that moment forth, I felt a sudden calmness and feeling of warmth come over me, and I was met with a vision of the reposed nun, who assured me that my prayer had been heard and that the damage done to the surrounding lands would be reversed. And sure enough, after the vision disappeared and I had taken a moment to gather myself and thanked God before heading back outside, asking some of my houseguard to come with me, and relaying word to them of what I had seen, all the damage that had been done had disappeared, and the previously burned barn stood anew. For this reason I have chosen to petition Your Holiness and the good Curia of the Holy Mother Church to formally recognize the reposed Sister Calliope as being in the Fourth Sky among those deemed Righteous in Virtue, so that she might be beatified, for as it is written:"But see, the Lord provides: where the virtuous are cast out of this world, He gathers them in the Skies.” (Gospel 5:41-42) GOTT MIT UNS,His Princely Grace, Manfred Johann Barclay, Prince of Sutica, Duke of Reinmar, Count of Freimark and Kretzen, Baron of Madvon and Freising, Lord of Sankt Johannsburg, High Chief of the Reinmaren and High Seneschal of Hanseti-Ruska

Olox_ 3433 Share Posted September 26, 2023 "Without aunt Calliope I wouldn't be the person I am now. She taught me how to pray and frequently brought me to the Chapel at Corwinsburg, prior to my departure for Salvus. Shame she is no longer with us, she could teach a few what it means to be a good Canonist..." Heinrich II Lothar said to himself after reading the document issued by Manfred Spoiler OOC: A few memories I have in the form of screenshots taken during Calliope's life - will always miss her :`)
Irishmanmichael 179 Share Posted September 26, 2023 “Thank you Lord GOTT for hearing our call and allow your faithful servant Sister Calliope to come wash away the foulness of battle.” The Hauptmann of Reinmar, spoke after quickly departing the jubilation after the battle to go pray in thanks for the miracle of Sister Calliope.

Werew0lf 12072 Share Posted September 26, 2023 The Pontifical Chamberlain, Bishop Stanislaw, looked over at the missive. He offered a faint smile, and prepared to bring it forth to the Curia. "A miracle."
