It started with Light.

He never recognized it for what it was, ignorant of the blessings bestowed upon himself - he had family, friends, purpose…

The Light dimmed.

Of course it lingered, even as he turned his back towards it. He wanted more, needed more… and so, he lost everything.

Darkness.

It seduced him, preyed upon him in his weakness moment, and he couldn’t fight back. He embraced the dark, it’s cold embrace twisting his soul.

The Light became the False Light

His enemies were of the Light, they took everything from him in its name - Vengeance was Justice, and Justice was Salvation.

He was not enough for Darkness

And so it took his wife, his children, his friends, and his Honor. They would devote eternity to its service - what choice did they have? The False Light continued to taunt them for its warmth was everywhere in this realm.

Why?

Why are we still at this? Who are we after again? Those who once wronged us are gone, did they really wrong us?

Doubt

The beauty of the dark quickly fades when exposed for what it truly is, yet those who live in its shadow can never truly escape, a spiteful remorse filling their cursed souls with wretchedness.

Is that the Light?

The head of Aonghus Seragon had sat in that paladin’s sack for nearly a year, cursing the holy knights existence to no avail. Yet, when Light in its truest form touched him, the Darkness abandoned him without a second thought.

It ended with Light

The Light did not judge him, the Light forgave him, despite his sin, despite his hatred for it. His Soul was cleansed of its taint. He was saved, yet he still felt guilty for those he left behind in Darkness. Was it fair to be saved when he cursed them to such? But the Light did not deal in fairness, it dealt in goodness, and it was goodness that guided Aonghus to eternal bliss. As he passed into the Seven Skies, he only hoped that the Light may find those he cared for - Ailsa, Aurelion, Liadain, and the others.

Spoiler

Aonghus Seragon Cwn’Therin is PK'd, thank you to everyone who played a part in this character's journey.

Not a huge fan of PK posts, though felt it was necessary here. Thus, it was quickly put together.

A figure of the cold north would not know, but still in that dimly lit sanctuary of his, that place of respite. He pondered, upon the past, of the old mountain tops of that once fertile landscape. He remembered his time as Lord  of the Adunic people, as King of the Harren'hil. Of his noble duty that he had long since forsaken. Aurelion Marsyr sat in silence, and though he knew not how, he knew that another had departed. Something within that Soulless being stirring. That the prodigal son of his, the one he had entrusted with who he considered a daughter, no longer lingered upon the realm. The one who he had entrusted that adunic task, long gone and forsaken.

How many years had passed, decades frozen in that state of life and death, forced to languish forevermore while all those he had raised. . .slowly departed into realms far more peaceful. "This. . .is my curse. . .I'm sorry for failing you, my son." So did the Marsyr sit, silence befalling the old hunter, as he merely waited. How many years, how many more decades, perhaps even centuries would it be. . .until he once more joined them.

It has been my absolute honor and pleasure helping develop this character with you, I still remember the good times of when he was just a squire and became the head of the knights. The revival of old adunic traditions, and all the great times we had as the Yen Droch Rhodi.

I'm excited to see where you go from here

34 minutes ago, Wizzar said:

Ailsa

A creature would stir, dirt and grime leaving her skeletal form as she rose to her feet, rusted armor creaking. In the absence of Aonghus, a rage would beset the woman, taking the place of grief. Her soul too twisted by foul magic to properly process the loss of the once-great knight. Any reminder of life before death now gone.

Forever lost to the same false light he had brought her into when dragging her soul from the afterlife.
