Lost in the Leaves

Recommended Posts

The air hung thick with the scent of pine and damp earth. As the morning sun hit the sodden ground of the Norland forest floor, wispy tendrils of fog lifted off the earth, momentarily shielding a misplaced satchel. Spilled medical supplies were scattered like entrails – bandages lay limp and damp, a cracked glass vial that once held a tincture now obscured by the natural fall of leaves.

Long weathered by cycles of moon and sun alike, the forest floor held a disturbed canvas of fallen foliage. It was churned into a muddy mess, with streaks marking where a boot heel may have been planted or even dragged, hinting at the tales of a violent struggle.

To an inquisitive eye, the Gylldene logo, stitched and prominently displayed on the side of the satchel, might reveal further clues.

As the sun rose, the once-obscured scene became prominent. Shadows slowly retreated, and the fog lifted, broadcasting the scene into full view for those who took the road to the Gilded Goldfish...

The Sea Captain's hands shook as he reached down, grabbing hold of the satchel he knew his wife never went anywhere without. His long ears twitched, his heart raced, and his voice cracked as he spoke.
"S-Sinner?"
He began to look about frantically, seeing the trail of what looked like feet being dragged he clenched his teeth as a violent burst of blue lightning erupted from his body. Anger, confusion, helplessness, he felt every emotion he could all at once but one stood out amongst the rest, an emotion he had not felt in a long time...Fear.

"SINNER! WHERE ARE YOU LOVE!"

He shouted into the woods, even though he knew he would not get a response. He took off into the woods, tracking ferrets at his side.

And for the first time in a long time, Vicnan was alone again, he was lost again.

As the calls of the Captain (@PanicZealot) echo through the dense trees, they fall on the ears of a figure, perched on a nearby branch, sturdy enough to support his light frame. Grimm waits for Vicnan to leave the scene, before dropping down to the dirt, glancing over the path while muttering to himself "Shoulda known something was wrong when she wasn't freaking out at me every day." he squats down and inspects the scene for something-anything to help find her. "Not letting her disappear like this." While he was infuriated by half the things she did, he couldn't deny that Sinner, Farian, and the Gylldenes were like family to him. He takes a deep breath, before uttering out in a shaky voice.

"I'm not losing any more family."
