Metamorphoses Elixir (Common | T2)

 

A newer alchemical marvel, discovered in the mid-second century of the Second Age, the Metamorphoses Elixir is a simple potion capable of spurring a broad range of changes to one’s physiology to reflect the opposite sex. While primarily used among those whose spirits are misaligned with their birth sex, it has found a place among alchemists utilizing their brews for freer expression, and rogue-types looking for a more fringe way to obscure their identity.

Ginseng (for Masculinizing Metamorphoses) or Red Clover (for Feminizing Metamorphoses)

Effects

When an individual is injected with a Metamorphoses Elixir, their body will take on a myriad of changes to reflect the opposite sex. The recipient must be conscious, willing, and relaxed for the Elixir to take effect.  If at any point the recipient becomes unwilling, such as due to changing their mind, the transformation will immediately revert itself and no further changes will occur. Then, over the course of [3] emotes, the recipient will begin to rapidly take on the effects of the administered Metamorphoses Elixir. The effects of the elixir will last for [1] OOC week. If another dose of Metamorphoses Elixir is administered before the duration runs out, it is refreshed to [1] OOC week from the latest injection. If the duration of the Metamorphoses Brew ends, all effects are entirely reversed.

 

Metamorphoses Elixir may have the following effects, regardless of the type administered:

• Infertility. So long as one is under the effects of Metamorphoses Elixir, they may not have biological children.
• In gender affirming cases, it may result in alleviation of depression, greater emotional control, and reduction or removal of symptoms caused by gender dysphoria.
• In non-gender affirming cases, such as when used as a disguise, Metamorphoses Elixir may result in depression, mood swings, and other symptoms of gender dysphoria.
• Reversal of gendered traits that had onset during puberty (such as facial hair, voice deepening, etc.). This does not always occur, according to OOC choice.
• Any other effects of real-world Masculinizing or Feminizing Hormone Replacement Therapy not listed here, which will onset during transformation as with all other effects.

 

Masculinizing Metamorphoses

“Masculinizing Metamorphoses,” or a Metamorphoses Elixir produced with ginseng as its herb may have the following effects:

• Thinner hair, and potentially male pattern baldness if the recipient is genetically predisposed to it and of an age for it to occur.
• Rougher, more oily skin.
• Thickening of body hair, including beginning to grow in typically masculine places such as the face, chest, arms and stomach.
• Voice deepening, as though it had deepened during puberty.
• Reduced fat, and increased muscle mass.
• More masculine fat distribution. The chest may become flat, and more weight will be deposited towards the waist and stomach.

 

Feminizing Metamorphoses

“Feminizing Metamorphoses,” or a Metamorphoses Elixir produced with red clover as its herb may have the following effects:

• Thicker hair, and potentially alleviation of male pattern baldness.
• Softer, less oily skin.
• Thinning and reduction of body hair, including ceasing to grow in typical masculine places such as the face, chest, arms and stomach.
• Increased fat, reduced muscle mass.
• More feminine fat distribution, with weight being deposited more in the hips, thighs, and chest.

 

Redlines:

• Metamorphoses Elixir only has an effect on endosex (non-intersex) descendants taking an elixir of the opposite sex. 
  • Effects on intersex individuals (individuals with a pre-existing mix of sex characteristics) are variable, according to player choice.
  • The physiology of non-descendants is too distinct from descendants, and Metamphorses Elixir has no effect on them.
  • Metamorphoses Elixir has no effect on descendants of the same target sex. An endosex male may not, for instance, administer a Masculinizing Metamorphoses for increased muscle mass. It would have no effect.
• Metamorphoses Elixir has no effect on primary sex characteristics.
• Recipients will always look fairly similar, like a close relative of themself. Their appearance will be as though they went through the opposite sex puberty. 
  • The effects of Metamorphoses Elixir always remain within natural boundaries.
  • If the effects wear off and are re-administered, the recipient will change in the same ways.
• Muscle mass changes provide no noticeable effect on strength, and will never provide any combat advantage.
• Metamorphoses Elixir, when administered to children in puberty, will not “fast forward” puberty, nor will effects that reverse puberty take more effect than any puberty they have already undergone. The effects will be proportional to their age, and they will develop according to the elixir they are affected by.
• Only willing individuals are affected by Metamorphoses Elixir. Otherwise, their heart rate and emotional state will cause the elixir to fail to take effect.
• The effects of Metamorphoses Elixir may not be reversed by any means prior to the full 1 OOC week duration.
• No permanent effects remain after the Metamorphoses Elixir wears off.
• Metamorphoses Elixir may be administered “off-screen” should a player be uncomfortable with needles or the transformation sequence, as long as a signed item for the potion is acquired and used.
• Player signed.

Looking through the lore, it is clear there is no existing method for gender-affirming care, sex changes, or similar to exist within the lore. There are already ways to  use alchemy to shape your flesh into strange shapes, change your skin and hair to whatever color you please, so the absence of anything for gender-affirming care feels a bit out of place. This is intentionally not just “fantasy HRT”. Both because porting over a real-world medicine is boring, and it would make things far more complex than necessary. (Because real-world medicine is complicated.) This potion also has, albeit very fringe, use cases for characters to use it for limited disguises, allowing it more versatility than “the trans potion”.

As with all lore pieces, players are responsible for how they use this potion, and all server rules apply. Anyone abusing Metamorphoses Elixir for low-quality, mean-spirited, or inappropriate RP, are still subject to server rules.

I will only support this if you have it titrate to effect. So, taking partial doses will only partially move you more towards being male or female (so you could even end up intersex), and if you overdose, you become like a Baki character or such.
