As she sat beside him, watching him carefully pen the letter, her only remaining palm came to rest upon his shoulder, her voice laden with the weariness that had overtaken her, "You have served them well, kochy," She uttered, her words heavy with sorrow, though a flicker of happiness touched her lips. Their grandchildren, their future, offered a moment of bittersweet comfort as she smiled softly toward him.
