To borrow your term and yap a bit more, another big issue is that so many encounters just end in death. Rarely have I seen instances of characters being given legitimate chances to grow. It's just 'grr darkspawn kill them!'. This is sort of the point I was trying to make though, me and Madone ultimately ended in a 'worse' position when it came to not killing darkspawn. Look, yes, it's all to build a narrative, but when 4/5 of the guys you spare take the complete piss out of it and abuse it, it just gets disheartening. 

 

It's happened a few times where people are like "well villorik you spared XYZ and then they turned out to be evil again. who knew". Obviously, my character looking stupid isn't important and there has been some good RP with some darkspawn, but like I said it can just be frustrating.

Thats exactly the issue I faced too - sparing them makes no sense irp. Even ooc deals for capture were broken which kinda annoyed me... several times...

Pin pricking and stuff like that is just cheap BS honestly, and since to my knowledge siliti is shelved (there is no greater form to be working up to currently to justify keeping corcitura so vulnerable imo) it only makes sense to give corcitura’s some more buffs rather than allowing the community to inevitably stagnate/die off with the sheer amount of risk, poor rp, and metagaming far outweighing the fun you can have with it. Yes, being a darkspawn shouldn’t be a walk in the park, but it should also be fun. Corcitura’s really don’t have much going other than a longer lifespan and blood magic buffs, I see no harm in making them a bit more fun and giving them a bit more leeway (some meta safeguards like Naz have, or some ability to help them get through testing with a cool down or some strain of some kind would be ideal as well). There’s no fun in “be cured or die” when its from some low effort slash and salt rp. When I played as someone who’d actively try and find/test darkspawn I had way more fun actually investigating individual who seemed suspicious (not just judging based off character aesthetic) and it felt twice as much rewarding when the test was conducted than I did walking up to randoms. That’s how it should be instead of brainless palm slashing and finger poking. This isn’t to discourage random testing either, I enjoy it when there’s plenty of RP reasoning to back it rather than at whim of course, and I think this amendment just adds weight to the decision rather than it being an easy default cure all. 

 

The fear of being outed is still there, that doesn’t change and it won’t ever magically go away, good corcitura players are still going to be discreet so who cares, and they still aren’t as strong as other darkspawn and will still need to seek ways to survive. Not like this amendment gives us a pass to be careless. All the back and forth regarding this amendment doesn’t make sense to me.

 

TLDR; I genuinely don’t see the issue regardless of what side you take. Having to launch actual investigations into people instead of just randomly going up to whoever and decided to give them a little cut sounds like it’d generate some decent RP and avoid OOC messes. Plus it’d make more sense to want to refuse. A slash and a prick is inconvenient, but who wants to get wounded enough to need stitches, especially if you're innocent? 🤷‍♂️

This wont stop Corc testing and would just cause people to give deeper wounds. This change has been requested numerous times as well; it is generally denied because when CAs [or FAs in this instance] start nerfing detection methods its a slippery slope.
